Warm hospitality and service. Ridgewood restaurant meal. Was off reed the regular menu and had to ask for the restaurant menu. Spicy broth with beans and sausage made a delicious “soup” to enjoy after eating the mussels. Hot rolls. We tried two pasta specials. The pasta was superb. Carmela is a gracious owner/hostess. We will try her stuffed artichokes next time!
We’ve been to Pearl before & loved it but we both thought this may have been the best meal we’ve ever had there!
Excellent service. Our waiter was charming and very attentive to dietary restrictions.
Some of the best grilled octopus we have ever had, also the handmade pasta is always amazing.
The restaurant overcharged us by $60. They claimed it was a “calculation error,” but we knew it was intentional because $60 is too fixed of a number for a dinner bill. Also, based on what we ordered, $60 was so off-base that I knew the check was immediately wrong upon first glance. The restaurant merely said sorry and did not even offer anything. It was a terrible experience and I highly recommend that no one go or trust this venue. Always check your bills.
We had a wonderful, relaxing and delicious dinner on New Year’s Day evening. Very attentive staff and great food. This was our second time at Pearl and we enjoyed just as much as the first. Love that it’s a BYOB!!!
Service was great and food was delicious as usual.
Service was amazing- food was delicious! It was our first time but we will be back!
The staff were welcoming, but we weren’t impressed by the menu, and the food was mediocre at best, and inedible at worst—my meatballs were dried out, overcooked, and I couldn’t eat them. It was a birthday dinner so I didn’t want to complain or send it back.
The service here was excellent. The stuffed artichoke appetizer was fantastic but pricey. The grilled branzino was on the dry side and the fish portion small. Normally in places where I order branzino you get the whole fish, or the whole fish less the head and tail. At this restaurant I received just half the fish (one side of the fish) less the head and tail—-just a filet. It appeared to me to be a 4 or 5 ounce serving, pretty modest considering the in the $30’s price. The limoncello dessert was tasty but again the portion small for a $10 price tag. Other dishes seemed ok portion-wise and others in our party thought the food was very good. The real standout here, though, was the service so I would return and try again just on that basis.
After hundreds of reviews on open table this is my first negative review and the second time I’ve ever written anything.
We had half of an extremely dry meatball and a few pieces of the artichoke and were so disgusted we asked for the check(which took some time). The fact that you could see how disappointed and frustrated we were and gave us our check after explaining our issues was insulting. To follow it with a very insincere apology as we left was just icing on the cake.
If Stella/no.12 are closed- go to Cafe 37 or anywhere else. You can get far better meatballs all over town, geez, the parkwood deli meatballs our son likes are gourmet compared to this place.
Was a pleasant experience except for the parking. Don't think I will be returning because parking is miserable
Great family restaurant! Max and his team do an incredible job serving their customers delicious food!
My favorites are the Bronzino, octopus and beet salad appetizers. BYOB too. Don’t forget the strawberry zabaglione! So delicious and unique- you won’t find that anywhere else!
Highly recommend if you are looking for quality food and courteous service. They also do a great job with private parties!
This restaurant is incredible! From superb service to the quality of the food, Pearl Restaurant is our new favorite authentic Italian restaurant!
We had a very nice meal. The food was well plated beautifully. My friends and husband liked their dishes very much. My dish of branzino was very skimpy at any price. The vegetables were small portions also.
We sat for quite a while and they did not rush us out
It was great on all counts. The food was delicious and creative. The service excellent. The atmosphere was perfect. We were delighted by our experience at Pearl and will certainly return.
Family owned and it shows. Friendly and comfortable vibe. At least two generations of the family are out interacting with the diners. Italian food well executed by people who live Italian food.
Great little restaurant. Great food! Great staff!!!
Great byob in ridgewood. Parking is difficult as always but the food choices were interesting and well presented.
Relaxing, enjoyable, delicious. Great friendly service. Only little complaint was music was a bit louder than we like.
Very good food and very good service. I will definitely go back.
I had the beet salad appetizer and pumpkin ravioli entree, my husband had the octopus and the ossobucco. My dishes we just “meh” at best, my spouse complained his octopus was tuff and the osobucco was fatty. All around a meh experience
The food especially pasta was extremely fresh. Staff was very attentive. Great options on menu. We could have chosen several. We will be going back to see Nonna! Lovely lady.
My husband and I came here to celebrate our one year anniversary. We had a small reception at Pearl after our elopement last year, and the owner, Max, remembered us and sent us a dessert. The food was amazing as always. Some of our fellow diners were complaining that the service was a little slow because they were very busy, but it was a nice opportunity to relax, enjoy the moment and not rush through our meal. Pearl is a hidden gem in Ridgewood and we'll keep coming back as long as it's open.
Food is overpriced and service was terrible!
The owners are very accommodating and sweet.
Really below par Italian Food. I’ve had better dishes at pizza parlors, which in hind sight, we should have went to. My “homemade” pasta was over cooked and gummy and my wife’s chicken was bland. We had melon and prosciutto which looked rookie made. Could you spare the prosciutto? The service is so slow we had to track down the one waiter multiple times. I do nor recommend - you’d be better served at your local pizzeria.
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The potato-leek soup was amazing and the Bibb lettuce salad was refreshing. The table was split on the monkfish – one person thought it was great, but another felt that the tastes didn't quite mesh. Everyone loved the flat iron steak. S
Everything about Pearl Restaurant was excellent - food, service, ambience. Noise level would have been fine except for a very loud group of women (6) who were seated next to me & my friend. However, it didn't take away from an wonderful meal & service.
we have been there twice in a month. the food was very good, presentation was
pleasant to the eye, very tasty. the home made gnocchi were not heavy
but light and cream sauce delightful. one is able to eat either inside or on a pleasant
night outside. we will go again and again.
I love family run restaurants and this one was one of the best family run restaurants I have been too in New Jersey. They care a lot about their ingredients and for how good the food was it was a great price. I have not had pasta that fresh since I was in Italy. Everyone is so friendly and inviting it is my new favorite restaurant in the north jersey area
Food was good! Place needs a make over! No ambience.. $$$
This was our first visit to Pearl Restaurant and we were extremely pleased with the experience. The food was amazing, the service courtly, and the ambiance cozy. Would definitely return.
A absolutely love Pearl! Authentic Italian cuisine and Massimo and Lena are wonderful hosts. Brought the grandchildren and they were treated like family. The food is always fabulous....you will never have a bad meal here.
A pleasant surprise. I had been there a few years ago, and the meal was good, not great, and the menu was limited. The menu is much expansive now, and the food was excellent. I would go back again in a heartbeat!
The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside the decor is pleasant. The staff was very courteous and attentive. The food selections were a bit limited in the entree selection, but we all enjoyed our dinners.
