the pasta is what keeps us coming...absolutely delicious!
Superb food and service!!!
Food was superb. Our waiter, Ricky, made the entire experience very special. Highly recommend!
Perbacco is always terrific. Might be the best Italian restaurant on the west coast, certainly in Northern California!
The food just hasn't been good every time I have gone...
Service was very slow. I felt as we were the forgotten table. One of our individuals did not get her drink until about 45 min to get the drink. They did not take our order until 1 hour after we were sitting there. However, once we started to receive service, everything went wonderful. Food, and drinks were excellent! I am chalking the server issue as a one time thing.
It wasn’t bad but not great either. There are WAY better Italian restaurants. Sorry. Not enough to come back for. Good food. Decent service. Nice ambiance but nothing special.
Outstanding food and service. A really excellent menu is somewhat like being in a lifeboat with too many people -- some really tough decisions have to be made, and you know the casualties would be winners if they survived the selection process.
Excellent Italian food. Umberto the owner is all over the place making sure all are happy. When I found out he was once the owner of Chianti in LA, one of my all time favorites, it all made sense. . Very nice and Fair priced wine list. Very good service. Try the superb Vitello tonnato. Very pleasant ambience and noise level under control. A new favorite in San Fran.
Amazing service! We never waited for a thing - water and wine glasses always full and food arrived promptly. While the service was attentive it wasn't smothering which was perfect. We were celebrating a birthday and they made us feel very special - card, people wishing happy birthday, and a great table.
My only complaint is other diners clearly weren't dressed for a nice restaurant. A t-shirt and jeans?!?! Bit annoying when I'm dressed up sitting next to someone who is dressed for a fast food restaurant. This isn't the restaurants fault - they clearly state business casual on their website.
Great food and service
Arrived early and sat at bar for a tasty drink before dinner. At dinner the waiter was warm and friendly while helping us each choose our dinner. Food was excellent and we were very pleased with the entire evening.
We had a lovely time, our server was perfect!
Great place for a business meal, as it's an elegant setting with great food but not overly loud.
I think Perbacco is one of the best restaurants in the City, period. The food is delicious, inventive and beautifully prepared and served, and for the area and what you're getting, very reasonably priced. The service is outstanding - professional waitstaff and support servers who ensure that every detail is looked after, but not in a fussy, intrusive way. The decor is also cool, and warmly inviting, but not fussy. We had a perfect dining experience on Saturday when, on a whim, we decided to check if they had availability last minute. Surprisingly they did - typically this place requires advanced reservations (for good reason).
We were greeted warmly by the reception staff, and shown to our table almost immediately, even though we were a tad early for our reservation. The waiter came right over, introduced himself, and gave us space to pick drinks. He came back, then again with drinks, and I had some menu questions which he answered in a leisurely way, not rushed at all (which I really appreciate). Also, he knew the menu throughout, and made excellent wine recommendations for pairings by the glass.
Our food was all so goooooooood! We had two appetizers - a veal with a tuna sauce, and a stone fruit salad that was heavenly. Very complex layers of flavors, textures and surprisingly excellent stone fruit (where are they getting such good produce?) - but accessible, not overly "foodie" and pretentious as so many places can be these days. I had perfectly cooked house-made pappardelle noodles with a ragu that was mouthwatering; and my husband had a piece of halibut that made me swoon, on top of some veggies and a sauce. For dessert, we ended up sharing three flavors of their gelato and sorbet across two orders (they made us a special blend) - the caramel, chocolate and fruit. These are memorable - and I would just eat those if it weren't unseemly! They come with paired little cookies....pure indulgence and so worth the calories!
Just go! Worth every moment and $!
Special occasion place for sure. Quiet, classy, excellent customer service, and the food was delicious. Calamari appetizer, beef cheeks and quail were all superb! Nice dinner out!
Great birthday dinner
We enjoyed our experience here. Great food, attentive service, thoughtful wine pairings.
I believe service & great company, attributed to our wonderful meal at Perbacco. Don't get me wrong, everything we had was perfect for the moment. Our server did an outstanding job of recommending the favorites and how sharing ideally worked for our group (thank you Ricky). Our kaleidoscope of eating options was a diners retreat with Beef Cheeks, Quail, Pasta, and cheese and desserts to follow. Due to the overwhelming service, we couldn’t help but share our dessert with diners sitting next to our, which they fully enjoyed, as well. We will definitely return, though we do wish we could receive service like this, at all eating establishments!
The service was perfect: just the right amount of attention - not to much and not ignored. The food was very good, if a little pricey. We were seated in a more open-space so it was very easy for us to communicate.
Excellent dinner and service. We go here regularly and they never disappoint.
Everything was superb!
Good Italian restaurant, nice service. Menu items are typical and not super different. Will want to try a couple more other pasta dishes to make sure next time
We eat here often, casual personal week day and weekend meals and business lunch and dinners with clients. We usually love the wine and the food . However this time the pasta was oily and our waiter was condescending. We will not be returning.
Great food and staff
Food and service were great as always.
Great experience love the atmosphere and food. It’s a must visit when in town.
I gave a slightly lower mark for ambience only because the section we were sitting in was rather warm. When we got up to leave we realized the rest is the restaurant was cool. Word to the wise. More importantly - great food, nice wine, lovely service. Nice selection of dishes, if a bit meat-heavy.
Beautiful dishes and our server was incredibly attentive with exceptional recommendations in food and wine.
Great Fatoush salads (our favorite), exceptional service. It was a rare, warm SF day and we ate outside - huge crowd but the service was still excellent. We have tried other menu items and are always impressed with the quality and creativity.
The host was accommodating. Food was very good with an excellent wine selection. Service was a little slow but good and friendly staff. Will return to dine
Nice place, but nothing special. Service was mediocre. Food not bad, but nothing to rave about. Hard to believe this is a place to look to going to for great food, or anything else. Wine list was great. But, that is all.
We were seated right next to a huge column which was uncomfortable and really put a damper on the whole experience especially since the reservation was made months in advance for the visit.
Service was inattentive...waited for a long time for water refill, when it was an 82 day!
They went the extra mile for our anniversary and even presented us with a cake and a congratulations card : )
Good service, really busy on weekday nights, little gem salad was good, beef cheek was mushy, good papparadelle.
Truly incredible service and everyone was extremely attentive and welcoming. We had a special time on Saturday night and did not want the evening to end. Thank you Perbacco !
The food was delicious and our server was great. It was our first time there and were given the choice
of booth or table. We selected booth and were seated in the bar area. We did not know that the table
choice would have been better in the main dining room as soon, four customers coming in recognized four other customers who were leaving the restaurant. They were quite happy to see each other and proceded
to stand very close to our table laughing and talking. They were quite loud and remained there talking for
about five minutes.
As always excellent food and service, was not our fist time here, very happy with our choice, had a lovely dinner, we especially love coming here for pasta :)
It was a pretty busy night. We were greeted and seated right away per our reservations. Our waiter came to table right away and offers us to order drinks but we needed time to decide. I noticed he was slammed with other tables so I spoke with host explaining we have show tickets and would like to order quickly. The waiter, Joseph Underwood, was awesome. Within minutes he was at the table. Super friendly, answered questions - my husband was trying to decide between the Violerra (Zacapa rum based and The Monk with green chartreuse) and took our entire order at once. Cocktails came fast, so good - went with the Violetta. Then our two appetizers arrived- The octopus which is warm and the Vitello Tonnato, room temp/cold dish. Both were fresh, full of flavor and we enjoyed both. They don't split dishes but provided us individual plates and extra serving utensils. I liked having the octopus first then the Vitello. Then we shared the large portion of the Tajarin pasta. Again, very flavorful and a big serving. We both enjoyed. Our final dish we shared was the Duck. Was delicious. Comes with frise salad. The duck alone can be a bit salty, but combine with the salad items the combo was remarkable. Both my husband and I like to eat and the portions were perfect to keep us satisfied, too full for dessert. The wine by the glass was nice. Really enjoyed having Joseph as our waiter. Will be back again. Convenient valet parking in front. We made the show no problem - the pace of the meal was perfect.
