Truly incredible service and everyone was extremely attentive and welcoming. We had a special time on Saturday night and did not want the evening to end. Thank you Perbacco !
As always excellent food and service, was not our fist time here, very happy with our choice, had a lovely dinner, we especially love coming here for pasta :)
It was a pretty busy night. We were greeted and seated right away per our reservations. Our waiter came to table right away and offers us to order drinks but we needed time to decide. I noticed he was slammed with other tables so I spoke with host explaining we have show tickets and would like to order quickly. The waiter, Joseph Underwood, was awesome. Within minutes he was at the table. Super friendly, answered questions - my husband was trying to decide between the Violerra (Zacapa rum based and The Monk with green chartreuse) and took our entire order at once. Cocktails came fast, so good - went with the Violetta. Then our two appetizers arrived- The octopus which is warm and the Vitello Tonnato, room temp/cold dish. Both were fresh, full of flavor and we enjoyed both. They don't split dishes but provided us individual plates and extra serving utensils. I liked having the octopus first then the Vitello. Then we shared the large portion of the Tajarin pasta. Again, very flavorful and a big serving. We both enjoyed. Our final dish we shared was the Duck. Was delicious. Comes with frise salad. The duck alone can be a bit salty, but combine with the salad items the combo was remarkable. Both my husband and I like to eat and the portions were perfect to keep us satisfied, too full for dessert. The wine by the glass was nice. Really enjoyed having Joseph as our waiter. Will be back again. Convenient valet parking in front. We made the show no problem - the pace of the meal was perfect.
Perbacco has a very welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel at once that you are in for a very special dinner. The tables are set to allow dinners to have a conversation without having to speak loudly. The food is classic Italian and matched by great wines in every price range.
The wait staff could not be more knowledgable or gracious .
We always love coming back!
Consistent, and well presented. We enjoy their food.
The food was not great, I ordered a pasta that was very oily. The portion was very small for the price. We waited an hour and a half for our food. The dessert which was some type of chocolate gelato was terrible. Overall, not a good food experience.
The food was fantastic and I would definitely recommend the menu. It was noisy so having a business lunch was a little challenging. Service was good but slow. Quality of food made up for any negatives.
Great food. Best Pasta you’ll ever taste. Very noisy. Tight tables. Wine list is good but pricey
I say I’d recommend to a friend even though I doubt I’ll return because of the noise factor. Like other places I might return and eat at the bar - as the food is quite good - so I could actually hear myself and my partner speaking to one another. Or eat as soon as they open up in the early evening. I had to take a break and go outside for several minutes for some sanity before going back to desert. It’s such a shame what’s going on with these restaurants these days and the loudness factor. Instead of 5 stars - because of that - it gets 3.
We hadn't been to Perbacco in a few years however we are very glad to have visited for my wife's birthday as the dinner experience was perfect. We'll certainly not wait very long before returning.
always return to Perbacco. it was exceedingly noisy the night we were there, and my duck dish which I usually order was quite tough. the dessert of the week also was not up to par...it is one of our favorite restaurants, and would go again, as I think this was just an off night.
Waiter lacked interactive skills and wine pours were supposed to be 6 ounces, I received about 4 if I was lucky!
Had a terrific dinner with friends. We ate upstairs, which is usually quieter because the tables are spread out (downstairs booths are adjacent to the bar, and the bar scene can often be quite loud). Service was slow - but we didn't mind because we were enjoying a nice evening with our friends. Drinks were good, and we shared appetizers including a great frito misto and an octopus dish. We all opted for the house made pastas and they were perfectly cooked with delicious sauces.
The food was outstanding. Our server was exceptional. They made my girlfriend's night with a birthday card and a personalized dessert. It was a great evening!
Authentic Italian food; a great selection of Piedmont wines; and attentive and knowledgeable service. Out next to-go place in SF.
For a truly wonderful dining experience Perbacco is the the place to go...you may even have the pleasure of meeting Humberto.
Got the Prix menu: Delicious!
I had been to Perbacco once before, my husband several times. We chose it for our midweek, 25th anniversary dinner. We had the duck and pork as well as a few sides. All were delicious. I have a food allergy and the server was well educated on the menu and was able to tell me what to avoid, which was nice. Had recommended wines and they were very good matches for our main. Thanks, Perbacco!
Excellent. Excellent. Excellent!!!!
Love sitting in the banquettes by the bar & observing the comings and goings. Umberto is so often there greeting customers. Great cocktails, wonderful salad of baby gems with a tarragon & blue cheese dressing, excellent pasta dishes. Lovely choice of wines by the glass and hazelnut meringue to finish the evening. What's not to love about this place?
Perbacco is our special occasion go-to restaurant of choice. Always good service, great menu, excellent range of wines. What separates it from other restaurants is Perbacco's attention to details ... food served hot, wine at the right temperature, perfect pacing of courses and genuinely friendly staff.
Classic ambience, creative and diverse menu...simply, best of the best.
Great for the occasion
I have been to this restaurant many times but not in the past two years. The quality of the food has declined. I can’t say anything the three of us ordered was great and some dishes, the duck salad specifically, were bad. You can find much better restaurants in SF.
I had been to Perbacco a dozen times before but always after 8. This time dinner was at 6 for a myriad of reasons. The food was outstanding as usual. The menu was a bit shorter than normal, but not enough to make a difference. The service as always was excellent. However, eating this early is something that I will not do again. The noise level was so high that a cross table conversation was not really possible. It was not the fault of the restaurant, but rather the high customer volume and the high volume customers. I will be back, but later in the day
Always great food and service. I ordered the quail and it was cooked perfectly. The baby carrots for side dish was overcooked with too much oil...albeit the carrots were sweet. My husband ordered halibut and it too was excellent...Perbacco is consistently good. Love the service and ambiance except the fact that we could not hear our conversations with our 2 friends.
Great space upstairs for a quieter meal. Amazing service and quality food.
Another memorable dinner at Perbacco, lovely to see Italian co-owner Umberto working tonight with his lovely American Yankee Angelina wife Leslie by his side - - kinda like George & Gracie nowadays! Cute couple.
One or 2 negatives...NONE of the too many to count “ food runners” & probably NONE of the kitchen chefs seemed to speak English well or natively, co-Owner Swedish Head Chef Staffan seemed not around, nor was 2nd in command Canadian Kelsey. A sight to be seen. Usted hablas Espanol ? Hola Senor! Couldn’t find one Italian or American Yankee in those jobs tonight. Sad & bad. Things are changing FAST in SF’s finest & fancy & MOST EXPENSIVE restaurants. Like being at McDonalds. It happened in SoCal long ago, now here in SF. More workers & cheaper workers & more profits now the key to success in the restaurant biz. Just like in the construction & janitorial fields it seems. Times are changing...
Here’s to gourmet Italian food in the SF FiDi!
What a beautiful place to dine! Visiting the city for a birthday weekend and I had noted on the reservation that we are celebrating a birthday and when we got seated there was a lovely handwritten birthday card! That's lovely! And our server was so great and even when we had ordered the amazing panna cotta... they also sent a beautiful plate with merengue cookies and plate decorated w happy birthday written in chocolate. Such a great first time experience and cannot wait to come back! Ideal for a date...a nice dinner or just have desserts :) hats off to the staff and chef.
The food and service were excellent. I totally enjoyed the papardelle and roasted carrots ( so delicious). Wait staff was attentive without being "on you". Very warm and polite. Wine list is superb, including by the glass choices. Tables are a bit tight. A bit difficult to speak softly.
Great food, superior service, nice wine list and moderately priced. One of my go-to regulars.
One of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city. Brought 2 colleagues and they loved it.
Always love this place. Excellent pasta and service
The food was OUTSTANDING! A last minute reservation because our original choice was full but I'm so glad we went here. Our party of 4 ordered different dishes and we all got to try each other's dish and loved everything equally. It has been a long time where I found that I enjoyed everything served at a restaurant.
We all thought the food was very good, had an enjoyable experience overall. Sophisticated, comfortable interior. Somewhat loud, but no louder than any modern restaurant. Will definitely return!
Birthday and vacation- excellent meal and service!
Excellent server!! Great food!
Always so good!
Wonderful ambiance, lovely food and wine, great service. All you can ask for
