Chicken Parm was fatty and spaghetti was undercooked.
Very good except pasta with scallops special was more like pasta with shrimp with small pieces of cut up scallops.
Food was very good with many choices. Outside space is decent enough though could have used candles to keep the gnats away...

They overbooked the place and the staff was running around like chickens with their heads cut off. We had an 8:15 res and about 8:30 I asked the hostess if she knew about how long it would be. She replied , “ your guess is as good as mine”
We had a great experience. 6:30 reservations - got seated right away. So many wonderful menu choices to choose from. We’re happy to hear Polpo is open year round so we can go back frequently to try out some other options.
Our server Valery was excellent. Food was delicious.
Good food but not worth the price. A simple fish special with no sides was $49. The clams appetizer had 4 shells without any clams and it was $18.
Great wait staff who did an heroic job under short-staffed conditions.

No service for one hour after being seated. The bill had a 20% tip added which could not be deducted.
Open Table did not highlight that this is a BYOB place. We couldn’t even drown our sorrows.

We made a reservation online and all went as planned. We were a party of 12 though and they would not put more than 2 tables together. So unfortunately we were separated and four people were put at a table next to the other 8 . That was my only complaint. The service was great and the food was excellent. We ate indoors as they were calling for rain that day.
Ordered at 6:20. Appetizers came out 6:30. Main coarse came at 7:40! Server was awful. Worst we ever experienced in Avalon or Stone Harbor. All tables around us-who came in well after we did-were finished dining before we were served. Waiter never acknowledged. I had to seek him out. Then he said meals would be right out. They came 1/2 hour later. Food really good but will advise to all-go elsewhere! Service is that bad!!
Food was marginal, brought out the wrong meal for one of us, service was spread thin and did not bring items asked for, and one meal had minimal crab meat in it and they had the nerve to charge 43 dollars for the dish. Incredibly poor experience.

Good food, service was quick once seated, but had to wait 45 minutes from the time of our reservation to be seated. Seemed to be a reoccurring problem as people were all waiting around to be seated for quite some time. It seems like the restaurant does not put a cap on their reservations.
AC was broken. Crazy hot inside. No one would fix the issue or even tell us what the issue was. Food and wait staff were great, but ownership/Managment was terrible.
The restaurant was painfully understaffed and let way too many reservations be booked given the situation. We waited two hours for our food. I felt terrible for the 1 waiter and bus boy they had — they were working very hard and still very friendly despite everything.
The waitress was fantastic even with all the tables she did have. Got there they seated us right away. Specials were delicious
I gave this restaurant a second try after not even being seated last year. Polpo can be so much better than it is. The potential is there. The food is good. The restaurant is just not run well. You can’t blame the pandemic and staff shortages for the shortcomings on this one. You are just not getting a dining experience you are getting fed and that’s about it. You can tell the wait staff is overworked and fatigued. There is no hi I’m _____ and I’ll be your server. It was are you ready to order. Oh good evening to you too. Yes I am absolutely ready to order with 3 children after being seated at 830 for my 800 pm reservation. The hostess is extremely rude. Train these people. If you want to be a restaurant that people keep coming to make it a friendly and warm experience for your patrons. I was asked do you need something by the hostess when I went to check in. Most restaurants you walk in and are greeted. Good evening, welcome to Polpo would be a nice start to your dining experience. The owners need to train their staff to make it a dining experience that people want to visit again and again. The food is good. It’s not great. The overall experience ruins the meal. Sorry to be bluntly honest on this one but hopefully Polpo will get the message to make it better for others. I will suggest the burrata appetizer if you happen to get seated for your reservation. The gnocchi carbonara was also very good and worth ordering. Nobody asked if we wanted dessert or coffee and honestly I don’t know if they serve dessert or coffee since it was sadly not presented as an option.

Wow! The food was soooo good. We ordered the mussels in white sauce, Caesar salad, penne a la vodka and the linguini Pescatora. I wish I took a photo of everything but we ate it all so quick before the food is delish. Our service was amazing too. Red was our server and was an absolute delight. Will be back!
