Present Company

We have been to Present Company quite a few times and it's always very good. Food is always outstanding and the kitchen is always consistent: good presentation, food served at the correct temperature, cooked to perfection.

One somewhat minor annoyance on our most recent visit. This past Saturday night there was one table in our dining area that was very loud and I am disappointed that the staff did not address the situation. Several tables around us were visibly upset, as were we.

We will definitely revisit Present Company again in the future -- hopefully for a more quiet evening out.

Always an amazing meal. I love food, and Present Company is my favorite restaurant.

While the food was good and unique for this area, the service was so horrible that it completely overshadowed the enjoyment of the food. We had a reservation and our table was ready, but the hostess walked away and we were left waiting for quite awhile until another hostess sat us. Then it took forever for a waitress to appear. The service the entire night was so abrupt that it felt like the waitstaff was on rollerblades whizzing by and throwing our plates on the table and moving on. No one ever asked if we needed drink refills or how our food was. Then they came and threw the dessert menu at us. I have never had an experience like that.
We had been big fans of The Mill at 2T which occupied the space and we were glad they kept the same decor. Unfortunately- they did not come close to retaining the same level of service.
Despite liking the food, we would never go back. It was actually an uncomfortable experience which went beyond inattentive and rushed- we felt like we were eating on an assembly line.

Just go. It's that good.

The food is beyond good with a focus on seasonal and such great flavors. You are full when you leave but you have to eat everything it’s that good. Only problem is that even though I love the style, the door lets in a lot of cold air and some of the chairs are metal so I had to have my coat on my shoulders and was cold almost the whole time.

Winter menu absolutely delicious. We are regulars and definitely one of the best menus we have had. Artichokes, rabbit, lamb shank all fantastic. Returning very soon

We sat at the kitchen bar for the first time and watched Jeff and his team. Fascinating and also fun to see how a well-run kitchen operates. The food is very innovative: onion lasagne was delicious. My husband had the octopus and was very pleased. I ordered panna cotta for dessert, not really knowing what it is. Not sure I would get it again but I note that I ate every bite. Present Company is becoming a favorite destination for us.

Everything was so yummy! The service was great. I love a meal that takes time to eat and enjoy- it’s an experience, not a rushed meal.

The food was incredible! The staff was friendly and the chef was close by and personable. I would recommend the prix fixe tasting menu so you can sample a little of everything. You will not be disappointed!

At the beginning, we were seated for 10 minutes before our waitress came over to offer drinks and help with the menu. However once she did, everything was wonderful. Great menu, great tasting dishes, good service, friendly staff. Cant wait to return :)

I think we hit an off night. Food wasn’t very hot when it reached us and portions are much smaller then we remember. All new wait staff and not as friendly as previous staff. For the amount of money we spent, I don’t think we’ll be back for awhile. Sad to say because this has been my favorite for some time.

Another perfect meal at the Present Company. The onion lasagna and the tuscan salad were shared as appetizers by my husband and I. For our main course we had the grilled swordfish and a seafood medley that I can’t find on the website right now. We had the chestnut cake for dessert.

Present Company was fabulous. Ambiance was great. Staff knowledgeable and friendly. Food was incredible. Will definitely be back!

We've been to Present Company several times and it never disappoints! The food is always absolutely wonderful, the courses are timed perfectly by the wait staff, all in a relaxed ambiance. This is definitely are go to place when looking for a fine dining experience.

Music is way to loud. This could be a nice romantic seething but choice of music ( like try dinner music?) and volume are bad. We even asked to tone done music to no avail.

Our first time here. We had to wait thirty minutes to be seated for our 7:00 reservation for four which unfortunately is particularly hard here since there is no comfortable place to wait. That said, they could not have been more gracious and apologetic even though it was obviously beyond their control. When we were seated we each had the three course fix price dinners and did not have a great deal of duplicate courses in our party so can say definitively that all of plates we had were outstanding. Each were carefully prepared and plated with portion sizes are perfect for their small plate format. The wine list is solid, although limited but their small footprint. Looking forward to going back.

Suggest that you view the menu on line to get an understanding of what will be offered to make sure it meets your needs. The food is excellent, the service anticipates your needs and responds before you need to ask. If anything is less than perfect, they will be aware of it and make it right. This is one of the top restaurants in CT.

Present Company is a charming little restaurant in a renovated mill building in the village of Tarriffville on the south end of Granby, CT. The menu is a'la carte with about several meat, fish and pasta entrees to choose. We choose the wild boar ragu with house-made pasta, and it was delicious. For dessert, we both had vanilla panna-cotta with roasted peaches that was also very tasty. An unexpected bonus was a 50 pct discount on a bottle of wine - Thursdays only. Our waitress needs a little more experience in presenting wine and keeping our breadbasket full.

Wonderful restaurant. I recommend seating at the bar so you can watch the chef cook. Food is great

I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant for some years and enjoyed some excellent dinners. However,my experience this time was extremely disagreeable. There was a large party that were so drunk and loud that a dive bar would have ushered them out. There was no effort to quiet them down. They slowed down service and ruined the evening. To add insult to injury, we were overcharged on the bill. I have never had such an unpleasant dining experience. This has soured me totally and I do not plan to patronize this establishment in the future

Food was excellent. Far too noisy though. Hard to be heard above the noise

We have now dined here twice and we have really enjoyed this small quaint restaurant. We like the 3 course options and enjoy the different farm-to-table take on the choices. We would definitely recommend this spot for a quiet date night or special occasion.

Always a great experience, we came in late in the evening and were treated amazingly!
