Delicious, elegant and as casual or as dressed up as you’d like. We will return!
We came for their website’s presentation of their vegan menu. Any honest vegan will tell you that eating out is almost impossible and patently disappointing, and let me say it this way: if you are plant-based and kind of stuck for options in Lewes, you can make Raas work. But it’s extremely (over the top) expensive for very small portions, and the menu for vegans looks attractive enough but is a mystery to its host and servers. So, you know, the risk level is somewhat high. It’s a fancy place for thoughtless, wealthy American eaters, which is to say thoughtless consumers of anything meat/dairy. Vegans can probably make it work if they are willing to spend exceptional amounts of money on small portions of unclearly articulated vegan Indian/Asian options. I appreciated the restaurant’s efforts; the restaurant — which is clearly committed to positioning itself as “high end” — simply needs to just go further with it dedication/commitment to its plant-based menu. The server probably should not have to go back to the kitchen to ask what vegetables are in the vegetable korma, for example. (Turned out to be bell pepper and onion…which I think makes the point).
My husband and I love this restaurant. It has so many choices to please everyone in the family. Never ever experienced distasteful food at Raas.
Have eaten here once a month or so since their opening. Food is always very good if a bit pricey. Last night tried the whole fish for the first time. The Pomfret was described as the smallest of the fish available at around one pound. Waiter suggested two orders for two people. We ordered one and another dish. No mention of cost and I obviously mistakenly did not inquire. Bill came, $75.00 for an approximately one pound fish, (which yielded somewhere in the area of 6 oz of meat, four small potato halfs, some snap peas and a carrot. Fish was dropped off unceremoniously with 2 scar marks to work from in the body. No effort or offer to cut apart and seve at the table (for a $75.00, 1 pound whole fish) as would be customary at most better restaurants. After we were finished waiter pointed out the amount if meat left on the bones and at that point proceeded to remove it from the bone, again, after we were pretty much done. Insult to injury, the fish was just o.k., not local but a cold water fish usually found off the waters of Europe etc. A bit similar to either Fluke/Flounder or Rockfish each of which are local and could be fresh from the sea same day (both of which run in the $20.00 a pond range at the local seafood markets. After check was dropped another waiter offered to pick it up for me but noticed me starting at the bill. They asked if I needed more time and I replied "just really take back by the price of the fish" . No reply, took the check and crickets. Our waiter returned with the C.C. and receipt, also crickets. To sum up, diner beware, if the price is not there ask unless your comfortable paying more for an entre at this establishment than you would next door at Heirloom the critically uncontested best restaurant in the entire state. For me the days of a $250.00 meal for 2 of Indian cuisine in Lewes Delaware definitely came to an end for the foreseeable future last night.
Best Indian food we have had including restaurants we have frequented in NYC. All ingredients are fresh and food is outstanding. The entire staff at Raas is extremely nice and accommodating. David is the best! The mixed cocktails are superb. The only downside is fighting the traffic to get to Lewes from the Rehoboth area!
The food at Raas is fabulous!
Chef always comes out to greet us and make sure we enjoyed our food and the wait staff is knowledgeable about all items on the menu, as well they are very attentive.
I am handicapped and right away the staff was attentive and helpful. The food was fantastic—fresh, authentic, and delicious! I highly recommend and can’t wait to go back!
My table's choice for BEST in Dining in the entire Lewes/Rehoboth area. Best service, best chefs, best staff, and one very strong recommendation for the traditional house-made cheesecake. Raas has found and employed the best of all available restaurant representatives, in front and in the cooking area, and they do not do anything less than the BEST.
Always our favorite spot in Lewes!
The food was amazing, the drinks delicious. Our waiter, David, made excellent suggestions and was very knowledgeable!! They were understaffed but did a great job!! Would definitely recommend
Food was amazing and server was very nice and friendly. Decor was really pretty. It's pricey but well worth it.
Raas never disappoints. The tempura prawns are a must. Prices are high, and selecting several small and large plates to share, and cocktails easily added up to several hundred for four. We’ve been here several times, so we know what to expect. We obviously think it’s worth it! Chef Gi Gi often comes out to visit his guests. His passion is evident.
Absolutely delicious pan-Asian culinary experience. Menu hosts a great variety of dishes for veggie and meat lovers.
Outstanding food. Great service.
This place keeps getting better! Food and service were spot on, and Chef GG is a credit to the area - friendly and outgoing, genuinely glad to share with each and every diner. The menu has grown, but the depth of the food and flavor is fresh and outstanding. Cannot wait to try more of the new offerings.
Our server, Dave, was gracious and unobtrusive. He made our dining experience memorable. We look forward to requesting him on a future visit.
A fabulous restaurant in the cozy town of Lewes. Delicious food and the space has seating @ the kitchen bar. Our server was amazing. Can’t wait to dine here again!
Amazing experience. Everyone went out of their way and the food was delicious. Highly recommended.
The best Indian food we ever experienced! Intriguing menu right down to the Indian inspired cocktails. Like Mango Lassi? By all means, try a Drunken Laasi. Service was top shelf. We WILL be back!
Loved everything - super staff, amazing food & cocktails
Opportunity to share one of our favorite local places with friends from out of town - as always the food was very good & the service was excellent- so lucky to have this restaurant as an option in our area - our friends were impressed & we all enjoyed our dining experience!
Great food but no longer has the Pan Asian menu
Wonderful, knowledgeable and attentive service. Our water helped us decide what to order, and assured us it would not be too spicy. The flavors were wonderful, and all the dishes in our party of 4 were outstanding. The wine suggested also perfect. Try the basil cardamom ice cream!
Very nice atmosphere and server Brian was amazing as always and owner was friendly and engaged as usual too. Food is amazing and plenty of choices for everyone but do NOT skip the Naan bread since that is so delish! Love coming here for Indian food and for those who are not a big fan of Indian, there is the Pan Asian menu too!
Clean quiet and romantic ...The food was amazing ...definitely a must try
Not our first time at this wonderful restaurant. Food is always inventive and well prepared, service is attentive and casual. Sit outside on the deck and enjoy the scenery!
Food is amazing. Service is fantastic. Great location and atmosphere. Variety of items on the menu and staff is knowledgeable of menu. Presentation and playing is lovely and adds to the enjoyment of the dining experience.
A wonderful addition to the Lewes restaurant scene. The best craft cocktails we've had in a long time and delicious, authentic Indian food. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Mushroom, Scallion & Green Pea Masala, and a whole Branzino in an orange-ginger sauce. All was super tasty. The service and ambiance were excellent. Chef and owner Gyanendra Gupta stopped by the table to make sure all was ok—there's a lot of care in what they do at Raas!
Had friends in from NY. Treated them to a special experience. The lamb shank I had was amazing as were the other 3 meals. Best meal I’ve had yet in my 6 years as a seasonal resident at the Delaware beach. Exceptional service, ambiance, and food. Will be back many more times. Kudos to GG and his staff!!!
Raas, not just an enjoyable authentic Indian/Pan Asian meal, an enjoyable experience! I recommend Raas 100%. We shared several small plates, and two entrees. Each dish was prepared perfectly, with a beautiful presentation-even the garnish was tasty. Brian, our server, was most pleasant and proficient. The hospitality was remarkable. Make a reservation and anticipate a great night out!
Great choice in Lewes for new cuisine. Fantastic service, respectful and warm. Relaxed but with class.
Delicious as always!
The food never disappoints. The service did. A glass of wine was accidentally spilled and broken against our table and hit the floor. Our waiter got two staff people that cleaned up the mess. We had to request to change our table because it was scattered with glass chards. We were reseated. At no time during this did our waiter ask how we were. The remainder of our meal was uneventful. We were presented with the check and saw that we were charged for five meals - we were a party of three. We couldn’t locate our waiter - so we flagged down a manager (?). We pointed out the problem and he took the bill and had it corrected.
Great food, server with great personality and spot-on recommendations. 3rd visit; WILL
be back !
This place is beautifully refined and geared to your best dinner experience. When I mentioned that we might want to move to a different table because of the A/C vent on the floor right near my chair, the owner/manager happily closed the vent and also placed a book over it. Voila! Food was very very good. Our waiter David went out of his way to please us. He asked if this was a special occasion, and I answered that we were celebrating our birthdays which are one day apart. At meal's end he brought us a big slice of chocolate cake with a lit candle! So sweet. We will be back.
Took my dad here for Father’s Day and had the most outstanding restaurant experience! The food and drinks were absolutely wonderful and our waiter was even better. He walked us through the menu and pointed out suggestions based on our preferences and his suggestions were delicious. Every time we finished something the next course was brought out immediately. Will definitely be back and everybody should go here!
Food was great just wish there was more of it
Some of the best vegetarian food around
Dinner was great. Prices really increased from last year. Ridiculously small pour of wine foe$15.
Go see server Noni, she will show you an enjoyable adventure in Indian cuisine. As Noni says, "you're not her to eat, you're are here to dine." And we did just that! Noni's suggestions of garlic Naan bread and Indian-spiced eggplant began the absolutely memorable culinary evening. The party in our mouth continued as we dined from the small plates menu on tandoori shrimp, Indian spiced eggplant, mouthwatering scallops, and crispy on the outside, and juicy on inside, no-filler crab cakes. Raas Restaurant is truly an Indian Culinary Classic!
