Yes, the food was great...but the service was what made it an experience. Daniel and Adam are AMAZING! I enjoyed everything they put in front of me - ranging from poke to beans to burgers to dessert and more! Innovative takes on food....special, personalized service. EVERYONE SHOULD GO HERE!
Delicious dinner and the cocktails were top notch. Try the Ramble On! Our waiter was attentive and the ambiance downstairs was nice. One small complaint - the music was uneven. Mostly classics at a nice volume, but then the volume would occasionally surge unexpectedly to an uncomfortable volume to hear one another.
Great low key environment and friendly wait staff. Loved the food.
Excellent service and a comfortable evening of talking with good food. It isn't a foodie place but somewhere to go with friends and enjoy a dinner and an evening of conversation.
Food sounded better on the menu. Had the fried chicken Benedict. Came to the table at room temp, eggs were overcooked, chicken overcooked, and barely and sauce. Wouldn’t go back.
Enjoyable, reasonable for SF, just amused when they seated us and the rest of the older, uncool folks downstairs. It's much more hip and sophisticated upstairs. Probably louder too, so perhaps they were just doing us a favor.
Great location for a meal before a show! Nice variety in the menu! Great bar!
Food was good. We felt a bit forgotten by our waiter / which made our overall impression not worth the money.
Delicious food in brick warehouse style building....wonderful
Fun place. Lively and loud. Food was good. Service was on the slow side. We would have ordered dessert but didn't have time due to lack of attention from waiter. We had to finally flag down someone to bring us the check after sitting and waiting for a bit after finishing our meal.
Food and service here were excellent. I thought $17 for a glass of white wine was pretty excessive, however. My biggest complaint was the deafening noise level - mostly due to the pounding trance music. Folks next to us had to shout to hear each other so the noise level was quite high. I had a pounding headache by the time we left.
Food was very expensive.
The ambiance and service were great. Unfortunately the food was only okay (I found my pizza bordering inedible), especially compared to the price. Drinks were better than the food, but you can find better food and drinks at a similar price point in a lot of restaurants in the area (and throughout sf).
Great service. Great food. Great ambiance. We were celebrating a birthday and each of us ordered something different, everything was great. Our server was fantastic- she went out of her way for our entire meal to ensure we had the best possible experience. Would recommend to anyone.
So good! A little pricey for the portion sizes, but delicious and aesthetically pleasing!
Good food, good vibe. Tuna tar tar was delicious as was the chorizo pizza.
We came in for my birthday yesterday and the waiter made the evening as lackluster as possible -- had no greeting, no "have you been here before?" or "are we celebrating" even though the reservation specified it was a birthday. Just "do you know what you want?" followed by long gaps in service and waiting 20 min for drink orders. As others have mentioned, the tables right by the front door are freezing cold with every burst of wind that comes from patrons entering and exiting. For a $95/person dinner, I like to think that servers have built up to this price point by working on their customer service; Instead, I actually felt like I was ruining his night just by checking in on us. Food was good but the service (and outdated interiors) made the night a let down.
Went for Brunch , seated downstairs , fine for a hotel breakfast , but we were looking for more of an experience. Our waitress was nice but beyond clueless.
Great service and very cool ambience. Food was also very good and the wines were excelent.
My two friends and I came here for a girls night out dinner before a show. We were looking for a place to eat a nice meal and The Rambler did not disappoint. All our meals were delicious. And our server was so helpful and friendly. Five stars. Recommend and would definitely return!
The food was tasty. The service was nice. I would go back.
Cena de navidad con familia
Location was good for our annual trip to Union Square. Food was just ok. Comments from others included: Steel cut oatmeal was very good , Chicken-and waffles was ok. Something in the dish was very Spicey and it was not a balanced taste. Fries- below average, sausage and omelet were tasteless. Employees were nice and the atmosphere was cozy .
We came here between the 2 Harry Potter plays. Service was excellent and the food was really tasty as well. We ate downstairs and it is a chic little gem in the hotel.
I had made a reservation at least a week before our desired date. When we arrived, the restaurant was almost empty, but the hostess seated us at a four-top right by the front door which was freezing. I asked her for another table. She said we would have to wait 15 minutes. I explained to her that I was very upset because we had a reservation, and obviously there was room in the restaurant. She just turned away and left the table. About 10 minutes later she came back and moved us to a better table with no apology and no comment. The waiter was inattentive and, though there were only 4 to 6 other diners in the restaurant and maybe another 4 to 5 people at the bar, it took us 15 minutes to get our drinks. The food was mediocre at best. Almost every dish had garlic powder added to it. This is not fine dining! The chef Was lounging around and appeared to have learned these recipes by rote. There were no substitutions or changes allowed. There was no “cheffing” at all. This was such a disappointment on a special occasion. We will never go back.
We went for brunch. Neither the coffee or the food was hot enough.
Outstanding, all the way around!
It's so great to see the old Postrio location redone as Rambler which delivered great service, drinks, appetizers, & mains!
Greeted/seated promptly. Server appeared about five minutes later and I asked for help deciding between two items; he said “both are good; I like (unrelated menu item”). I chose the mushroom omelet which was delicious and well-presented. A food runner and busser brought and cleared my plate but my next interaction with the server was approximately 45 minutes later - he seemed to be the only server taking care of ten or so tables. There were plenty of other staff on site, all pleasant, but no one seemed aware that service was incredibly slow (I heard the two nearest tables commenting that they needed to get his attention to close out and the father/daughter who were seated next to me waited about ten minutes before being greeted). I left my wallet on the table with my credit card pulled out for a half hour before I was brought my check. Great food and nice people go a long way in my book, but next time I’d choose a $3.50 breakfast bagel at nearby Daniel’s Coffee before a $17 omelet, no matter how tasty.
First time here. Picked it because it was on OpenTable. The ambiance was busy, loud and fun. Maybe a little loud for the older set but we were going to a show after and the mood was perfect.
The pizza and seafood were excellent, but someone in our party ordered the short ribs, which were phenomenal! Our server, Nem (?) was awesome!
Highly recommended overall!
Beautiful place, great food and amazing atmosphere. The brunch was delicious!
Tables upstairs are right next to one another. Would have preferred to sit down stairs but was not given the option. You can hear the other tables conversation. The staff appears to be international and Millennial. The dining atmosphere is casual to the max. Baseball hats on backwards shorts and loud contemporary music are the norm. This was our second time and we brought guests. The food was good and bloody Mary's and champagne were good and our server was congenial. It was very difficult to converse over the adjacent table conversation and loud music. If you just want good food and don't care about conversation or decorum. Try the Rambler.
Very good food at good prices for the Union Square area. On the night we were there, we were seated near the bar. The noise was very loud, making it almost impossible to have a conversation.
We were there on Friday evening pre-show. It was over the Holidays and the main restaurant was booked for a private event. This means we were seated in the bar. So it was crowded and noisy and the service was a bit inconsistent. Only 1 bartender and there was a wait for drinks. Our server did her best and she was very pleasant. The foos was good.I would like to give Rambler another try when there are more options.
Had a wonderful time. Service was great. Thanks
great service and perfect for a date night, good list of wines & cocktails
Great spot with a robust menu and good wine list. Small place so booking is advisable. Friendly professional staff and reasonable price points! Pizzas made in wood fired oven are awesome!
I picked this restaurant for us after the tree lighting at Union Square based on the menu and reviews. Did not disappoint! Great ambiance - we were seated in the basement portion of the restaurant so it was cozy and felt like a little family room - the food was fantastic. Ordered the mac n cheese fried Chinese green beans for appetizer...so good!! 2 of my girls ordered the burger for dinner, 1 ordered a pizza and I got the short rib. Short rib was outstanding. Burgers were thick and tasty. Pizza was delicious. Because our dinner was a little slower to come out they comped my second cocktail and our dessert, which was a large slice of chocolate ganache cake and delicious. It’s a bit pricey but the splurge was worth it for us (and living in the Bay Area I’m used to it to some degree). We will come again - a great find in the hotel zeppelin on post street.
Thank you so much for the feedback! We hope you'll visit us again soon.
food was what ruined it for us. nothing stood out and would not recommend. standard dishes that could have been served at a diner. no thanks.
