Also ich bin fast sprachlos und kann es nicht in Worte fassen, welch ein Geschmack diese dry-age Rinder-Filet durch den am Knochen gegrillten Prozess der Zubereitung entfaltet. Jeder, der schon mal ein dry-age Steak gegessen hat, vermag zu beurteilen, welch eine Geschmackentfaltung entsteht, das aber als „Frauensteak“ bei Steakkennern verpönte Filet hat heute eine Stufe erreicht, die durch den Knochen und Fettreste an der Außenseite eine neue Dimension nie gekannten Ausmaßes im Geschmack entfaltet. Es ist nicht gut, es ist nicht sehr gut, es ist das von mir bisher als einzigartig und exzellent bezeichneteste Rinderfilet aller Zeiten beschrieben. Fast untergegangen sind dabei die raffiniert mit schwarzen geraspelten Trüffeln versehenden dünnen krossen Fritten, die eine neue Interpretation einer so trivalen Beilage aufwertet. Also volle Punktzahl. Fast zur Nebensache degradierte sich dabei der offene rote Burgunder, der aber geschmackvoll rund und ohne aufdringlich zu wirken. 😊😋👍
Overall, this was a great experience. When I first walked in, the gentleman waited for me to speak to him, which was thr only area of improvement. He as well as all of the staff were accommodating. Our food was amazing and the ambiance was incredible. What I thought was very nice was them calling to confirm my reservation, and letting me know they were checking Covid vaccination status. I recommend this place to anyone.

Our first time dining at Rare was phenomenal. Wonderful wine selection and an excellent limited menu, which I very much appreciate. We had a beautiful table upstairs, in a booth by the window. Our server was amazing, she providing A class service.
The tuna tartare for an appetizer was delicious and bright. The Caesar salad was fresh, creamy, and plentiful.
For mains I ordered the Branzino and it was a wonderful dish, the fish was fresh and pair wonderfully with the Cakebread Sauvignon Blac. My husband got the 6oz Wagyu filet and he was in heaven.
We will definitely keep Rare on our list of places to return.
Birthday dinner, while pricey it was a lovely experience and I’d happily go again. Service was outstanding from literally everyone
The host Ernesto was pretty good and our server, Grace gave us outstanding customer service. We arrived at 5pm and only one other family was there so it was pretty quiet and it was almost as if we had the restaurant to ourselves. We ordered the bread but due to the pandemic, they are no longer serving the garlic parmesean bread and it is now just bread with butter so that was sad bc I love their bread pre-pandemic. Then I ordered their special for the evening which was oyster Rockefeller and that was so delicious. We were given complimentary shrimp cocktail because we were there celebrating our 10 yr wedding anniversary. Then we ordered the awesome Tomahawk bc that's what I go there for and it is so good everytime I order it. We had the butter and red wine beef jus on the side. To accompany our main dish, we ordered the broccolini and patatas bravas. To finish us off, we ordered the creme brulee. Thanks for another wonderful dinner! Of course, we'll be back!

Dined at Rare for NYE with my date. The host/hostess were quite friendly and offered to take my umbrella as it was raining. We were led upstairs to our table. We were brought water by a different person and our server finally came to the table 15 minutes later. We ordered a bottle of wine and appetizers. We then ordered our entrees. My date ordered the Filet and I ordered the bone in Strip. We both ordered our steaks to be cooked Medium. When they brought out our steaks, her Filet was cooked properly at a Medium temperature with a pink center. However, my steak came out somewhere between Medium Well and Well Done, there was little pink if any visible on the outside nor in the middle. I told the server and he went to get a plate and took it away. A manager (I think) offered was there anything he could do and I said just cook me a new steak properly. He didn’t offer any comp or anything else. I had to wait over 15 minutes for a new steak which was still not a Medium temp but seeing where this was going, I ate a few bites and ended up boxing the rest. Again, I didn’t ask for any discount or anything extra, but I figured with the level of restaurant I thought this was and for the amount I was paying, I believed it was common courtesy. I was wrong. I’m not sure I’ll visit Rare again.

Rare Steakhouse was very good once they finally acknowledged we were there. It took them quite a while to bring out a coke and take our order. They were not busy, so I am not sure why the delay. Once they got started, though, it was all good. We started with the Wisconsin Cheese Board, two kinds of cheese, they did not tell us what kind, some fruit, beets, onion, honey, and pickles. My husband then had the filet; he said it was delicious. I had a Ceasars salad and roasted mushrooms. Both were outstanding. Customer service was just ok. I expected more for that restaurant. They allowed a couple to bring in their full-size St. Bernard. He just layed by the table, but I can't imagine this is ok with the heath depth. No, he was not a service dog.
I arrived 15 minutes before the reservation and grabbed a seat in the bar while waiting for the birthday boy. There was a wide assortment of house cocktails and wines by the glass, but very limited beer choices. I got a classic vodka martini. A very generous pour. Once the birthday boy arrived, we were able to move to a table without closing out the bar tab, which was very convenient. Didn't realize coat check was at the host station. The host kindly collected outer gear and took them to the rack. It was mid-week at 7p. Lively, but not crowded. Several families with children, which was surprising. Birthday boy went with seafood (which there were surprisingly several options).The pork chop was excellent, seared on the outside and juicy inside. The mashed potatoes were standard, but the grilled asparagus with pickled (hot & sour?) peppers were stand-out. Didn't have room for dessert, so we took the slice of cake home. The service was friendly and efficient. The booth was comfortable and roomy. An extra star for giving the gay couple the center booth. As traditional as it seems, Rare isn't stuffy. I'll definitely be back to try the ribeye or porterhouse and the lobster mac&cheese.
Restaurant is hands down one of the best in the DMV area
The Rib Cap Steak was the best I have ever had. The Capital Cut was good too.

Everything was fantastic. The only thing I would consider is Valet Parking. A restaurant of this caliber should have Valet. We had to walk 2.5 blocks and it was raining to park and then my wife, because I just had surgery, had to interrupt her meal to go and get the car because the garage closed at 10. This is my only "Ding" against the restaurant. Valet Parking would be a Value Add
This is a great place. Menu options are limited outside of steak, which didn’t bother me. We got there an hour before our reservation and went to the bar for cocktails and they were prepared very well. For dinner I had the ribeye and my wife had the salmon, and both were very delicious and cooked per our request. Service was outstanding.
Best steak I’ve ever had. Not a place I would frequent because of the price tag, but you have to do it at least once. Definitely a place for a special occasion.
I recommend the fried Brussel sprouts with the yogurt spread as a side.
In town for a weekend getaway
Amazing experience we were celebrating my friends birthday and we enjoyed everything. Services was excellent, food was delicious 😋 had an amazing time.

Nevers disappoints. Steaks cooked perfectly and I am pretty picky (black and blue the classic way). Wine list very good and they do not gouge you on the price.
everything was average at best, a huge disappointment
Honestly, I wanted to love Rare, but across the board, it was disappointing. Some of the issues we encountered:
-Sequencing of the meal was off and odd, our cocktails didn't arrive until halfway through our salads and the cream for our coffee wasn't delivered until it had gone cold
-One of our two steaks was amazing, perfect texture and that wonderful nuttiness from great dry-aging, the other was pedestrian--a nice cut of meat, but underwhelming at this price point
-Everything was underseasoned, I am always a bit embarrassed asking for the salt and pepper at a fine restaurant, but the kitchen had missed on the flavor
-Creamed spinach and patatas bravas were okay, again I feel like okay shouldn't be acceptable
-The cheesecake was thoroughly disappointing, odd texture and poor flavor
-Our waitress had too many tables and service suffered, was just enough to be adequate
Some of the positives:
-Cocktails were delicious and interesting
-The ambiance was warm and classic
-One of our two steaks was fabulous
-Our waitress was friendly and engaging
My wife and I had a great date night, but I would describe our experience at Rare as serviceable or adequate. Neither should be acceptable at a fine steakhouse. Overall, we were disappointed and mildly frustrated that the experience didn't live up to the billing.
Had the Waygu and it was amazing !!! We will be back
The new standard of “service with a smile!” Andre the bartender and staff were extremely friendly, courteous, and helpful. Atmosphere was fantastic and was wonderful. Food was absolutely amazing! 100% will be back again in the future.
