Rasa: Flavours of India
Rasa is one of the three best Indian restaurants we have enjoyed since being introduced to Indian food in 1991. A maharaja would have given a thumbs up.
We had a lovely time! The food tasted amazing but it was the service that really stood out. Pam made our evening and was a total delight. Thanks for such a good evening, Rasa!
The food is consistently excellent. Diverse flavours in all vegetarian dishes I tried. The only Indian restaurant worth the visit in Halifax. Highly recommend the bread basket.
Every six weeks our book club gets together at a local restaurant . This time we decided to try Rasa as we had heard good reviews from our friends. It did not disappoint. I was greeted graciously. Our waiter was able to help us with our choices and make recommendations. We tried two vegetarian and two chicken. All were delicious and brought to us in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to try authentic Indian food.
The service is always amazing, the food always exceptional. The drinks are also very good, overall a very nice place. Highly recommend!
My partner and I were going to an art gallery presentation near Rasa so we made dinner reservations. We have visited Rasa several times before so we knew we were in for a good meal, well-prepared and perfectly served. We were not disappointed. I like spicy food and ordered chicken vindaloo; it may have been slightly less hot than I’ve previously had but still very good. My girlfriend likes her food milder than me and she had the butter chicken and it was prepared perfectly. She had a glass of wine; I - the driver this evening - had Indian tea. Naan bread and basmati rice rounded out the meal.
Absolutely one of the bests, friendly service, amazing clean home-made-y food that’s perfectly seasoned and aesthetically spot on as well, great healthy portion. We were warmly welcomed to neat and chic tables, and server had explained everything and helped with our experience. Garlic naan is a best-in-town. Mostly got chicken dishes but lamb would’ve been great and wanna try vegetarian too.
Our first visit, we will be back. Food was excellent and very authentic. Great job guys.
Have already decided to take 2 more friends as a treat. Food was superb
The food was really good, but a bit on the pricey side. Quantity of food is not clear, some plates are clearly shareable, but you can't tell by the menu.
Absolutely superb. Some of the best Indian food we have had in North America!
Fantatic food... quick service and the perfect place for a lunch time meeting. Can't say enough good things about it.
We cannot day enough about the quality of service food and environment we experienced at Rasa! Simply outstanding in all accounts
There are not many choices for Indian food in Halifax. This was our first visit to Rasa and we were very impressed. Service was impeccable, and the food: well spiced, beautifully prepared. We will be back!
The restaurant is on the corner of birmingham and Queen so parking can be a bit challenging - there is an underground lot at Queens Square close by.
Not the best. Seemed flat compared to my last visit. Food seemed a bit strange too. Prawn masala average but chicken korma was dull and bland. Sides lacked flavor. Service was good but once again children wandering around completely changed the vibe away from adult dinner spot to daycare.
Fantastic! The Dal Makhani was especially delicious as well as the garlic naan and roti. Service was great I will be going back and would recommend without hesitation.
This was a great spot for dinner. The dining room is very comfortable and well appointed. The staff was very attentive and the food delicious. We will be going back.
A variety of delicious flavorful Indian dishes including an excellent, but somewhat mild, lamb vinadaloo. The eggplant and okra dishes were well cooked with complex flavors, and excellent texture. Our table shared 8 dishes and entrees between a table of 5 and had the right amount of food.
The whole experience was really nice for us. The complimentary towels for hand washing prior to the meal as well as the appetizers made our meal feel special. The food was delicious and full of flavor and definitely left us feeling satisified.
The onion bhaji was well priced and a generous portion, it was delicious. $5 for one small cup of tea was overpriced though may be warranted if a refill was offered.
The entrees were a bit overpriced (given the amount of meat/fish in them), but probably priced accordingly for downtown dining establishment prices.
That said, food quality was excellent, as was the service. The online booking was convenient and worked well.
I am not able to eat here often due to the price, instead it is reserved for special occasions.
Excellent food. Attentive service. What a gem!
The food is simply delicious and the service is flawless.
Had 2 dishes, lamb vindaloo and butter chicken. Lamb was very good but chicken was just okay. Could have been more meat in both dishes. Good flavour but small portions.
It was our first time at this restaurant. It came highly recommended by friends from India. Delicious food, lovely atmosphere.
My new favourite Indian restaurant! Exceeded my expectations!
Great food. Well-priced. Attentive, friendly service.
The flavour of the food was outstanding and the smells and texture were second to none . Also the dishes had distinctly different taste that made the meal interesting as well as flavourful.
The service and food was excellent. Will be back for sure
This was my second time at Rasa. The food was delicious and the service was fine. I was with a friend who is more of an Indian food connoisseur than I and he was disappointed that the dishes he ordered weren't spicy enough. I was very pleased with the heat and flavours of my meal though,
Our second time at Rasa and it did not disappoint. Not experts in Indian cuisine, but this menu does feel authentic and the tastes are both exotic and delicious. Our server was attentive and had a good sense of humour. She knew the menu and some needed guidance. We will be back!
Loved this restaurant. Ingredients so fresh. Will be back soon Thank you
This was our third visit to Rasa. Our table was near an emergency exit door and my husband found it to be cold. The waiter brought the wrong starter so then our main course came before the starter as he had to replace the order. The main course dishes were tepid so we started them then went back to starter when it arrived and when we got back to the main course they were cold. We were disappointed by this experience.
Ups the ante for good Indian food in Halifax. Roomy atmosphere with ample windows. Very attentive waitstaff.
We were slightly disappointed this time with the korma sauce - both the chicken and veggie korma were not what we remembered having in the summer. A different flavour to any korma we've ever had and I had a piece of chicken that was a little tough so maybe not completely done. The chicken vindaloo and tandoori chicken were delicious, as was the peshawari naan (my favourite and the only place who serves it).
Really enjoyed. Great quality and quantity. Third visit in last couple months so happy to give it as a recommendation to others.
A definite favourite of mine! We took our friends here and they loved it too
good, friendly service, good sized servings, tasty, hot and well prepared. The spinach and paneer was delicious.
Excellent food. The only good Indian restaurant in the city
Naan and dahl very good. The tandoori chicken (bone-in) flavourful but dry. Lamb Biryani OK but smothered in too much rice (difficult to serve). No lime pickle to spice things up.
We have enjoyed Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine in the UK when living and visiting there. Rasa now provides a reliable place in Halifax to enjoy this wonderful food.
