Red Gum BBQ
Food was disappointing. $36 for 6 of the smallest ribs I’ve seen. Hardly any meat on them and the meat that was on them wasn’t tender. Sausages were spicy but bland. Pickles and cauliflower steak was the only saving grace.
Have been looking forward to eating at this BBQ place for some time and it did not disappoint!! Meat, sides and dessert all delicious and service was lovely. Great spot for kids too. Thank you Red Gum BBQ!!
Great spot for a casual dinner with great food & an atmosphere comfortable for all kinds of groups.
Drinks & food equally as delicious & price point is slightly more expensive than you would expect but it makes up for it in service & atmosphere & venue location.
amazing meats and smokey atmosphere but very expensive for portion sizes
Great food, cozy setting and lovely staff.
The smoke/bbq smell was extremely strong though and left smelling of smoke. Staff could also be a bit more attentive to seeing if you needed more drinks/water etc.
Overall experience was really great though. Food is always delicious.
Great place to catch up with some friends. The staff were super friendly and provided fantastic service. The food was as expected... AMAZING! The Ribs and Beef brisket was our tables favorite. The chili chips were the perfect side.
Really tasty unique Southern cooking. Service was great even though it was really busy. Will be back !
We thought the venue was fantastically set up, the atmosphere was alive and we loved the staff and service. However I found the slow cooked meats were a little the same flavour and really quite expensive for what we got. Just a little to costly for Lunch? Most probably won’t come back. Not really value for money. Unfortunately.
We had the Valentines Day special which we thought was very good value as it included a drink and dessert, it was all delicious - we ended up taking the leftovers home as we couldn't get through it. The space was really relaxing and comfortable. Would definitely come back again maybe for a family gathering!
This was such a fantastic find, the decor was gorgeous, the music awesome, the staff were super friendly and the food was delicious. The meal was a little on the pricey side but worth every penny.
Love red gum, the food is incredible. You really do get what you pay for, the food is sourced and cooked with love and you can tell.
Now been to Red Gum BBQ twice, will be going back again and again Thanks Guys
Food was nice but I think it’s over priced, $100 for a couple and 2x of the sides were Mac n cheese and raw broccoli
The beef was cooked well, tender and juicy. The Mac and cheese was a good accompaniment, along with the fries. Service was good and the atmosphere was welcoming. A very enjoyable time.
Pork ribs melted in mouth! Staff very attentive and had a great chat with cook. Atmosphere very relaxed and rustic.
We ordered 2 adult and 2 kids meals and 2 drinks, the adult meals came out within 2 minutes and the kids meal 2nd 10 mins later which was unusual, I had to go up to the bar to get my drinks as they didn’t come out, the brisket was so dry you needed sauce to swallow it, their were kids pushing noisy toys around the restaurant the whole time, and if I order an $11 boutique beer I don’t expect to be drinking it out of a pickle jar for gods sake, I’ll bet the brewery wouldn’t be happy having their beer served like that, poor service, ordinary and overpriced food, unbelievably overrated and won’t be recommending it to anyone, we are locals are won’t be returning.
The only thing that we didn’t like was the kids toys were really dirty and like they had never been cleaned
We ordered our food first, as we were advised. We then soon after Ordered our drinks where 3 out of the 5 drinks arrived. 10 minutes later we received our mocktail, then another 10 minutes received our coke. Thoughout the 20 minute wait, we spoke with 2 different people for the remaining drinks. After all that, none of us had straws for our drinks, and when we asked for straws we were told you had run out and you didn’t have anything. So I had to EAT a very yummy but lumpy berry mocktail which ruined it for me.
For the amount we spent we didn’t feel we walked away feeling full and satisfied. Hate to compare but for the $200 we spent, we can go to san antones and get more for $80.
With all that aside, the food itself was delicious and amazing. Just a shame about the service perspective.
Recommended Red Hill BBQ for a casual night out with friends who aren't worried about eating on tables with other people and noisy ambience and casual decor.
Food couldnt have been better! highly recommended!
Other than the best a perfect place to.gp with friends and family.
We found that it was a very expensive lunch for what you got, we spent $130 we shared two meats, pasta salad, corn bread and 1 dessert with two drinks. Pasta could have been cooked more. I think you would make more money on drinks if the waitresses asked if you would like something else to drink. The meat was really good. Parking not the best
Second time I’ve been here and will be back again. Went on a Sunday evening outside of school holidays so was fairly quiet.
The staff were very attentive and helpful with all our queries and food was amazing!
Feel the food is over priced for the quantity received. However, most of the food is delicious.
Was a great relaxed setting good for adults or kids. We went after a long weekend and was disappointed to find there were no ribs left on the menu and we were all heading there to try them. The food overall was good and tasty.
Fantastic. My husband and I had a really lovely dinner here. The food was superb, the service was perfect and having lived in the South, the vibe was absolutely on-point, I felt like I was right back there. Thanks for a great evening.
DELICIOUS!!! All the meat we tried was cooked to perfection and melted on your mouth. The sides were also great.
Wow what a surprise find ! Everything I expected only sad thing was the chicken wings were all gone !! Very sad
Great place ! With a big party of 9 was a bit confusing at order time but when we got the food ( really quickly) it was awesome .
We had a group of 8 attend on the long weekend & we were so surprised how fast the food came out considering how packed the place was. The staff were very helpful & spot on with portion suggestions. Thanks for a great experience & delish food will definitely be back x
Everything was outstanding from the venue to the service and food. Staff were knowledgeable and advised how much we should order per person and the food was delicious. Highly recommend if you like bbq food!
Everything delicious! Cooked perfect and melted in my mouth. The waitress could have had a bit more enthusiasm, must have been having a bad night. I couldn’t hear her talk over the noise but think it was coz there was a lot of larger groups in. Definitely will go back, will even look at having a function there. :)
I think that the prices were too high for the quality of the food.
I don't think that I would go there again.
Was greeted with friendly staff , waiter seemed dissintrsted with working . Meals ok not alot for the money you pay.
Beef Ribs were terrible. Very expensive for the portion sizes you get and the Beer is very overpriced.
Food was great and service was attentive.
A great selection of sides available and the smoked meats were A1 - brisket was on point, pulled pork nice and sweet and the house made sausage to die for. Full flavors of the Buffalo wings enjoyed immensely, washed down with the Napoleone apple cider. Broccoli salad is a must and Mac n cheese was nice and cheesy.
Overall the atmosphere was laid back and relaxed. Family orientated and opportunity to share your experience with others. Communism tables allows for new meetings and sharing of each other’s experiences and recommendations.
On tap is simple however enough to chose from.
Can't fault it! We had the brisket, sausage, buffalo wings with corn bread, mac and cheese and broccoli salad on the side. Best corn bread I've ever had, still thinking about that honey butter!
The food was okay and the service was also okay, but for the price the food was a bit underwhelming in flavour. We also had issues with small bugs being all around the table and then our food. The bugs looked like small fruit flys or something similar, probably from all the plants along the top of the wall.
We ended up basically eating what wasn’t covered and leaving. I’m not sure if that’s common or was perhaps just an issue on the day we went for lunch. Probably won’t be back because of it though.
Eaten alive by flies, had to eat food quick before it was completely covered in flies
Delicious food with a wide variety of BBQ meats available. Great drinks menu and lots of local produce to choose from. We enjoyed it so much we went twice in one week on holiday. Nice menu that's easy to find and a great little area for the kids to play. Only disappointing areas were the 1.5 hours table limit at the weekend meant we got a little rushed towards the end of the our meal and not being able to sit next to the kids area despite a request to do so, both not game changers. Otherwise a really good meal, we would go again and recommend to others.
Great job guys! Highly recommended!! We will be back!!
