Food was poor and they were out of several menu items. The menu was short already and then they were out of several things. Service was kinda slow. My fish and chips were overpriced and rubbery. Salad was soggy. Nothing about this dinner was enjoyable.
Downstairs is dark wood Irish pub atmosphere, and upstairs is coolly furnished, open dining space with another bar. Been to Ireland many times - this feels like an authentic Irish pub on both floors. Food was good! I had a delicious Buffalo chicken salad and my friend had a nice piece of salmon on lentils. Drink options were plentiful. Service was friendly and timing was decent. Would def recommend Ri Ra over several “on the water” seafood establishments that are just not very good!
Terrible terrible experience! My recommendation is to skip this place and go anywhere else but here. The manager and hostess/host were completely unprofessional to my party. After waiting 45 minutes for a waitress to take our drink and dinner order we were informed that we had to go to the bar to order our food. The hostess never informed our party when we sat down and when we approached the manager about this she kicked us out because we were upset we hadn’t been approached by a waitress! She couldn’t even give us the time of day and because of customer service like hers that is leading Ri Ra’s, they definitely will not survive much longer.
Again, go anywhere else besides Ri Ra’s.
4 people with 4 different main entrees, all of which were thoroughly enjoyed: fish and chips; halibut, shepherd's pie (forget the fourth). Best shepherd's pie I've enjoyed outside of Ireland. Nachos, and flatbread, were very good appetizers as well. Generous drinks!
Great food, and we were lucky to get a window seat of the harbor on our wedding anniversary! We went early, so the noise level was quiet.
we ate upstairs and the room snd environment was very nice.
the restaurant was not very crowded when we were they so I imagine when full it is a little noisy. back wall windows looks out on water
server was pleasant and helpful. fish and chips were amazing
View from upstairs looking into the bay was beautiful right before sunset. Expresso Martini and Fish and Chips were great. Wife’s lobster roll kinda fell apart - bun wasn’t too great- but tasted good. Great service and ambiance. Recommend.
Caught lunch before a harbor cruise. Nice seat on second floor overlooking the water. Chowder and fish and chips were delicious. We shared the entree. Lunch came to $50. Service was very good.
Loved this place, especially the view from their upstairs seating area! We were pleasantly surprised at how delicious the brunch was (it is an Irish pub after all!) -- we both got the hash (highly recommend!) And a plate of Belgian waffles to share.
We loved our lunch at Ri Ra Irish Pub & Restaurant so much that we went back for dinner the next night. The staff is very efficient and accommodating, and the food is delicious and beautifully presented. They offer a varied menu to accommodate all tastes and dietary restrictions. Charity, the General Manager, was our server on our second visit, as the restaurant was short-staffed that night, and she is wonderful!
Wait time for food to be delivered was 1 1/2 hours after being seated
I would highly recommend this location for dinner. The downstairs is a lively pub but upstairs is a beautiful dining room with a bar and a beautiful view of the harbor. The food was very good and our server was wonderful. The upstairs is so pretty and cozy. I wish I took pictures.
We had a nice dinner at RIRa's in the second floor dining room. We were a bit alarmed when two bus tours showed up with large groups but they handled it nicely and our orders were delivered promptly without delay. The dining room suddenly got crowded and more noisy which is a concern these days - but we were able to linger and enjoy our dinner and then exit in a timely manner. The waitstaff was very attentive - good team effort. My husband - a vegan- had the quinoa-cauliflower burger and said it was the best yet! Thank you.
We had reservations and waited up front by the hostess booth for about 5 minutes unattended. The waiter was dry and curt, we didn’t get a second round of drinks until we were ready for boxes and a check, despite the fact our waiter found time to be on his cellphone instead of being attentive. The bathroom was filthy, with toilet paper and paper towels all over the floor. The food was good, which is the only thing that offsets the otherwise negative experience at RiRa
We were delighted to be served
upstairs by Frankie! Wonderful
view, great food and fun conversations!
Solid Irish pub with solid food
Late Afternoon Lunch
Our first visit to Portland and enjoyed our meal at this Irish Restaurant/ Bar. It is deceiving the street view… offerings glimpse into a big, dark Irish pub. However we were taken upstairs to the most beautiful layout looking out on the water. I loved the living room feel with the couches. Since it was late afternoon the service was minimal. No complaints. We both enjoyed our food and drinks. Love the meaning of the name which I didn’t know despite being Irish! Would return for some music in the evening!!
Poor service, mediocre food. Restaurant was out of lobster and fish and chips despite being around the corner from a fish market that stocks both. Service was forgetful and slow. Multiple items came out undercooked. Would NOT come back.
Nothing special, hostess wasn’t the nicest and made us wait until exactly 7:30 to be seated even though the table we ended up sitting at was empty the whole time with no others around it. Cool vibe inside but food was average
Service wasn’t the best. Food was great but you have to hunt down your server for any need. We went 20 mins without seeing our server with no water and wanted to order more drinks. Could be a staffing issue with covid but felt like our section was just being ignored as we weren’t the only table noticing this.
Ana was a wonderful server. She was very helpful in answering our food and beverage questions. The view of the harbor and ferries was amazing and better than some very expensive and upscale spots. The Snackbox, a great sharing appetizer, along with the 7 layer chocolate cake were the highlights of dinner.
Lovely ambiance and staff
Upstairs view of boats in snd out harbor
Will return and recommend!
A pleasing eclectic menu with something for every taste and palate as well as dietary regimen. Location is right in the hub of the action yet our outside table was cozy and quiet. Childrens menu was a nice surprise since it was not mentioned on the website but should have been. service was quick except that we had to wait for cutlery.
Great atmosphere, great service, great food. We will be back!
Taco salad would be considered very spicy for most - our family loves spice and it was too spicy for both of my children
Everything was excellent! Thoroughly enjoyed the meal, the staff and the atmosphere!
The grain bowl with salmon was phenomenal!
Service was outstanding....we had a larger, rowdy group. Waitress was awesome! Thanks, Caroline!
We had the BEST MEAL and waiter upstairs tonight. 🍸🎉💕
The food is great but service was terrible. Granted there were multiple parties in there, but it was a pack house. It took 20 minutes for a waiter finally to come to our table. The tables around us were all being served, but us. The view was amazing though
Something for everyone. Irish pub downstairs with casual dining upstairs. We ate upstairs with our two daughters, ages 8 & 10. Our table was a window seat with water views. Loved seeing the boats enter & exit from the bay. Service & food were fantastic! Would definitely go back when back in the Portland area.
Waitress couldn’t make basic drinks. Said there was no bar staff. Disappointing because friends from out of town and menu was short the regular stuff and drinks weren’t possible etc
Even though short staffed the help was great . Good solid food great ambience !
We actually never got service or even acknowledged that we were there after being sat at our table for over 10mins. There were empty tables with dirty dishes. At least 5 in our area. Others didn’t look like they were getting service either. Clearly short staffed. I get that’s an issue right now but someone should acknowledge you and bring you water and take a drink order.
horrible horrible staff, the stairwell is not lit and I fell down the stairs Not one person came to help until the "manager" came and told me to move or call an ambulance. Will never go back, spent the night in the ER with a head injury.
Our sever was unwilling to ask anyone if I could have a slice of cucumber in my Hendrix GNT. She states the didn’t have any - even though it was in my friends greek salad.
Our food was average and the spices for two of our entrees were “clumped” into our dishes. Suddenly we received our check without being asked nor with any offer of deserts.
The food, service and ambiance met our expectations. We would have liked the music to continue but it ended rather early Sunday evening
Great food...awesome view...excellent service!
The food is always amazing. The staff is so friendly. I go here all the time because you just can’t have a bad time. You MUST order the hot cheddar ranch dip appetizer.
The restrooms downstairs were disgusting, they smelled like a sewage tank, the toilets were so dirty, plus a lot of dirty paper on the floor. They have probably not cleaned them in a long while.
Then we got on our table. We were very happy to be upstairs. The first waiter we had welcomed us with “well I guess I have you too…” terrible tone and body language. We should have left just then.
Everything I ordered was sold out. My daughter got pasta with butter… that pasta was rubbery, burnt. It was probably a few days old and reheated multiple times. I don’t think anyone could do something so bad. Then I also had water dripping on my face from the a/c. My husband, kids, and I moved our table. Two waitresses saw us and didn’t even offer to help to move the table full of drinks.
My husband’s 12oz NY strip was 8oz on its best day. The French fries, onion rings were terrible. The Caesar salad 10$ is maybe a side salad.
The best part is when I requested to talk to a manager, I waited maybe 10-15 mins to be able to talk to a person, and it was the manager… she couldn’t care less. I was waiting for her to start laughing on me face.
Don’t go there, save some time, money, and aggravation.
