Food was delicious, service was great and ambiance was cozy and romantic.
Transported to a Tuscan town ! Lovely country inn atmosphere . Delightful hospitality . The same Nonna makes the handmade pasta here and at the well respected Pugliese restaurant,Trulli ,next door . Great wine list . The boar and all the Tuscan classics are beautifully represented
Great food and ambiance! Every dish was amazing and their house red is a great value that pairs really well with their food. I'll be returning.
We (group of 4) had prosciutto di cinghiale, funghi fritti and a pork terrine of sorts. Then pastas to share, all good. And finally the rack of boar, potatoes and cannellini. Perfect, we were back in Tuscany (or the Garfagnana, even better). Great Montefilli chianti. Biscotti and vin santo. Brilliant. Bravissimo!
Consistent and delicious spot. True Italian food. I will continue to frequent this locale.
Boar is great All else is ordinary.
Food is pre - cooked and small portions. The wood fireplace makes the place very Smokey in the winter and you need to wash your cloth.
Wonderful aroma from the wood-burning grill/oven! It added to the pleasant, rustic ambience!
Excellent. Relaxed. Casual. Food brilliant - simple done well. Wine list could be a little broader and deeper but minor issue.
Second time there and love it!
I love the steak!!!
Great place, great wild boar!
My girlfriend and I literally just returned from a wonderful trip to Tuscany. While there we visited a gorgeous vineyard called ‘Vecchie Terre di Montefili’ in Greve, Chianti. We tasted Several outstanding Chianti wines and purchased several bottles to take home. During our stay we were introduced To the winemaker Who told us that they run to restaurants right in our backyard; ‘I Trulli’ and ‘Ristoro Del Cinghiale’, Right in our backyard in the Flatiron district. Since we had such an amazing experience at the Vineyard, I thought it would be great to continue our Tuscan vacation back home in New York City. What a treat! Both restaurants are literally side-by-side to one another and worth the trip! The food was outstanding, with the pasta being freshly made in house And the wine directly from their vineyard in Chianti. Being that I had had my fill of pasta personally, I tried the Chicken under brick, which was incredibly succulent and delightfully seasoned and cooked in their brick oven. My girlfriend had the pasta Bolognese which was a delight as well. This is a fantastic spot for a date night if not for every day dining. Do yourself a favor and go!
I think this place has fantastic potential. The food was very good but not exceptional. I really like the menu, wine list and atmosphere. This place has its own Negroni menu!
Overall, too much salt. Everything was too salty. I will, however, go back because I love wild boar and I love the concept of this restaurant.
La prima volta!
The four of us had a very good time
Will be back
The first time we ate here, we had a great experience. This time was different. The menu was funkier, and one of our entrees arrived with spices/heat that the menu description had in no way indicated. Although we got there quite early, the kitchen was very slow. Not sure if they burned something and had to start over.
Very chill and delicious food!
Really delicious food, made to order. Very good service
Amazing people and incredible food. We were treated extremely well by the chef and all the staff
One of our favorite restaurants in Florence is Osteria del Cinghiale Blanco and we went to Ristoro del Cinghiale hoping for a slice of Florentine food and atmoshpere. What we got was a little short of that but this is a very good addition to the NY restaurant scene. The room is a nice rustic, with bar tables in the front and wood tables in the back. The staff greeted us with a smile and served us enthusiastically although slightly inefficiently. We found some good Tuscan wines by the glass and started with some delicious flavored salumi and excellent Tuscan style bread. Then we shared the risotto and the pappardelle cinghiale, both of which were excellent. The owner sat and talked with us for nearly 10 minutes. The room is conducive to easy conversation. For $60/pp, tax and tip included, the price was fair but not a bargain. We expect to return.
Main dish - boar mix - disappointing. Appetizers and service very good.
First time here and I LOVED it. Had the risotto with mint and snow peas.
I so wanted to love this place. The place is adorable, rustic like a typical Tuscan lodge. I grew up in Italy and know my way around authentic Italian fare. The first disappointing element of this place is that the grill is in the middle of the restaurant. While visually that’s great, the whole place was filled with smoke as they cooked meat and therefore our clothes smelled of wild boar for days.
I had what I thought would be a light spring salad with artichokes. I had just gotten fresh ones at the market so I know they are in season, here they choose to use canned. The salad already had enough salt with the anchovies and olives, but they added even more to it. I like salty foods but this was much even for me.
The entree was a mixed grill of wild boar. The sausage was super spicy (it never mentioned this on the menu description) and the ribs were very dry. It’s expected to not be super juicy given the type of meat but these were overlooked.
The service was fine and the ambience was visually appealing but unless you get to sit out in the garden, don’t go in the winter or you’ll be inhaling smoke throughout your meal.
I loved the Negroni options, my friend and I tried a couple...subtlety different...it was perfect with the roasted bone marrow which I think was a special that night. The pasta with the wild boar was yummy and the grilled wild boar was ridiculous!! Who knew?!? Watching our food being cooked added to the charm of the room....can’t wait to go back
All the food was fantastic (and the specialty negroni) but the real standout was the rack of wild boar. Simply amazing! Super flavorful and unlike anything I've had before, a total find. All in all a fantastic meal and I'll be back. Soon!
I've been a fan of i Trulli for years, but also spent two nights during my last trip to Florence seeking out a cinghiale dinner. Apparently, I was seeking cinghialle during the wrong season in Florence, but was delighted to discover quality cinghialle now available in NYC.
I started with Negroni #6 which had really interesting botanicals - I'd go back to sip on negronis and nibble on salumi every day of the week. The salumi were fresh, fragrant, and gone way too soon!
We tried the pappardelle (when in Toscana...), garganelli, and risotto. All were excellent - I would happily order any or all of them again, and can't wait to try the gnocchi with rabbit liver (not everyone in our party was keen).
We weren't able to fit in secondi, so I can't comment on those, but we spied a Bistecca Fiorentina a couple of tables over that brought us right back to Florence - another of my "can't wait to try" items.
As good as all of that was, the two stand-out items for our group were the bone marrow (a few "best I've ever had"s and, strange, I know, the potatoes (more "best ever"s).
The wine list isn't as extensive as i Trulli's but there's still a lot of really interesting wines to sample - other than the sparkling wines, all are from Tuscany. While there are plenty of Tuscan staples you'd expect (Chianti, Brunello, Super Tuscan), there are really interesting wines from throughout Tuscany and its islands.
Ristoro is on the right hand side of what used to be the i Trulli dining room, while i Trulli still exists on the left hand side (as you're looking from the street). The only challenge we face going forward is which side to visit - we love them both!
Cozy, rustic room with a chill vibe. Awesome Negroni menu. The food was so delicious - unpretentious, but made with love. Especially homemade garganelli bolognese and amazing rack of wild boar!! Friendly service.
