It wa s a special night for us . Everything was fantastic but. The food was way tooo slow
Food was excellent
Very nice venue to celebrate a birthday. Food is delicious.
Great knowledgeable stuff
Great wine recommendations
Will be back :)
Usually good food if overpriced, good wine if overpriced, today's lunch was a bit of a miss. The only real adult dining room in Ottawa, you have to go to Fougeres to get anything close. Worth it, but pricey
Had steak tartare for lunch and it was really good. The desserts are just so-so. My crème brulé wasnt caramelized properly.
Awesome as always
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and my husband's 73rd. We had a lovely dinner. Noise level was a bit high, however so we had to shout sometimes. Food was excellent, drinks were amazing & service was top-notch. Found the drinks to be a bit pricey, but that didn't stop us from ordering several & thoroughly enjoying them. Used the LRT home so that was OK. Our waiter was very knowledgeable & guided us well. Definitely reccomend the Riviera experience!
Excellent service and food! Location is excellent.
Love the vibe. I bit pricy but a great indulgence. Service is attentive. Had the tuna and chowder, fish and seafood cooked to perfection.
I am sad to see the Boccocino cheese appetizer gone.
Wonderful service and great food.
My second time going to Riviera and I truly enjoyed it. You must try the Riv Burger!
really expensive for the experience. My last time over there.
We had a fantastic time at Riviera. It was my third time there but our guests' first time. The cocktails , wine and food were fantastic. What made the night though was our server. I didn't catch her name but she has lovely tattoos and a beautiful face piercing. She was accommodating but unobtrusive. She was very understanding about the bill-paying tug-of-war at the table which I know can be awkward for any server. She was great! Will absolutely return.
Great burger - wish it was also on the evening menu.
Server véronique was attentive and responsive to needs (i.e. “pls don’t over cook the tuna” - thank you to the kitchen staff)
Amazing cocktails and great atmosphere
Great location for lunch and the food was fantastic
Everything about this place is amazing. It's our go to restaurant when visiting downtown Ottawa.
Great place .......................................
Birthday dinner for my partner. The service was outstanding but the food was inconsistent. Our appetizers were top notch. Best steak tartare I’ve had in ottawa and the citrus salad was delicious. The rib eye steak was very fatty and while the cod was good our food was cold. Not what we expected but Justin made us feel very special.
Riviera has everything I look for in a restaurant: great food, cool atmosphere and servers who know their stuff and pay attention to the little details.
This gathering was to celebrate a special occasion and it was absolutely perfect.
Riviera really earned it's reputation as a top romantic restaurant in Ottawa. I went with my wife to celebrate a late Valentine's Day, and our first visit certainly did not disappoint.
The ambience is the first draw, as the restaurant is set in an old bank with ornate walls and a high ceiling. The lighting is dim, but it feels both intimate and trendy, as does the juxtaposition on the classical architecture and modern bar. The space is beautiful, and feels as elevated as the food.
The servers were attentive, but not overbearing, though the food did arrive fairly slowly. We ordered drinks, a shared dish, a main each, and two desserts, and were there for almost three hours.
The drinks were quite good, and I appreciated the paper straws and metal skewer for the twist. The drink menu is very expansive, as between the cocktails, beers, and substantial wine list there are four full pages of options. Can be a bit overwhelming, but the recommendations they made based on our preferences certainly did the trick.
The food is the real draw. The seafood tower is a spectacle to behold, and the scallops were possibly our favourite of the night. I ordered the gnocchi, which while very good felt a bit small, and my wife ordered the lamb shank, which was more substantial and definitely not out of place for haute cuisine. The sticky toffee for dessert was lovely. Avoid the bonbon plate, as it comes with practically nothing -- it's a stretch to justify the $8 price tag.
Really the only downside is cost. Our meal came to around $225, a hard sell for the average person. I don't regret going at all, but Riviera is definitely reserved for special occassions.
Note that you'll need a reservation to visit for dinner. The restaurant closes to walk-ins fairly early.
Great food and quick service. I highly recommend:)
Amazing food, great music and really welcoming service. The photo booth in the back is a plus! 🥂
This is an excellent restaurant. The food, service and staff are exceptional
