ROOH San Francisco
I was so disappointed in our food and experience at Rooh. This wasn't my first time eating here, but is probably the last. This meal was brunch on Saturday with a very limited menu. I wasn't aware of this when making the reservation or getting a confirmation, my mistake I'm sure, and boy it was a big one! If you're a meat-eater, maybe this won't be an issue, but we had to stay with small side dishes for vegetarian food - and it was all much much to salty!!! I can't emphasize this enough. The service was really off too. Took too long to get water or a server to take our initial order, or to add to our order. When the food arrived, we weren't given dinner plates or serving spoons (and had to eventually "flag" someone down as the servers seemed adept at not looking at tables as they passed by - most frustrating!).
Food and drinks were great. Had rotating waiters all very unpolished. Brought husband for birthday. Waiter casually came by table, “hey dude” were gonna bring by some free ice cream. Other Indian waitress barely spoke English and was painfully awkward. Tried to order a mango mule but they didn’t have ginger beer stocked.
Maitre de was very helpful. Need to polish their service.
Best Indian in entire US. I dine here whenever I’m in San Francisco. I travel a lot due to work and you won’t find Indian food like ROOH anywhere not even in India. You can tell from the dishes that they use best of the products! Thanks to the manager who made sure we were having a great time. Service staff is always courteous.
The food was delicious. Only had 4 small plates between two of us plus a dessert. Each dish was beautifully presented and full of flavors. The cocktail served in a teapot and teacup was delicious.
We had a lot of excitement about ROOH but unfortunately it turned out to be very disappointing. The menu is priced in an “upscale” category but unfortunately the service and food were nothing close to upscale. We ordered drinks first followed by appetizers and dinner. The drinks were ok and creative. The food service for both the appetizers and dinner was extremely chaotic. We would get 1-2 appetizers followed by a long 30 minute gap for the remainder of the appetizers. Once we ate the appetizers and ordered dinner, an appetizer we had ordered and had forgotten made its way to our table. When we asked about the service to the staff, it was simply our kitchen is busy. Dinner came out is a disconnected manner as well. It made eating together very difficult. The quality of the food was ok. Creative attempts on traditional dishes were made but overall tasted average. The gravies were pretty much the same flavor and looked the same. what was even more disappointing was that our leftover dishes were all mixed together (veg and non veg) even after requesting them to pay attention and keep them separate. Unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy our leftovers since our family is vegetarian. Overall, very disappointing and definitely not worth the money.
Lipstick mark on coffee mug, 20 mins to get an additional pav.
Chef Pujan Sarkar won a well deserved Saucy Award from the Golden Gate Restaurant Association in 2018 and we've been dying to dine here since we met on stage at the ceremony. The experience did not disappoint! Every bite and sip was creative and delicious! Food is good and has unique taste
This was an awesome experience... it is every time.
it's a bit pricey, but it's bougie indian food so it makes sense
Excellent and creative food, great service and the no corkage special made for a perfect evening.
Food was not so great and expensive. Would not recommend
Great!!! Fantastic food, creative and delicious.
Customer service was over the top. They treated us to some special servicing because it was our anniversary and these small gestures were huge to us. Thanks.
Would recommend to a friend only for the food. The service just spoilt out mood. They forgot to switch plates to dining plates from small portion plates. 2 orders made came way after all of the other order was on the table and we were close to being done and had to remind them. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and they had nothing towards that for us while I was been told while getting the table that they would get something out for her.
Overall, good flavorful food but completely opposite on the service.
The best Indian food ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My son got sick after eating at rooh, great presentation but unhygienic food
Great delicious food and beautiful presentations. amazing drinks! Very friendly staff. Will come again for sure!
Rooh is one of our favourite restaurants in SF. Consistently excellent food, drinks and service, we can’t really fault anything. Can’t wait to go back again soon!
Expensive! Starters are better than mains. After drinks and appetizers at the bar, we were seated (we had reservation)where we had overly attentive service. We ate slowly enjoying the food and company. Restaurant brought our check without asking if we wanted dessert and asked us to leave as they needed our table for someone else. Once we leave left table they brought us a strange drink as a thank you. We were uncomfortable standing at crowded bar, but couldn't drive after consuming after dinner drink. So we left car and went elsewhere for dessert. Came back later to find car vandalized and backpack stolen. Not sure we'll be heading back after being asked to vacate table and spouse was I'll from food. Strange evening..
Great food and I would definitely go there.
Unbelievably delicious food! The complexity and richness of the sauces are absolutely divine. Among the best meals I have ever eaten, and the service and ambiance is lovely to boot. Truly in my top 10.
Food is excllent. Great portion sizes for lunch. The service is always so kind and personable. I highly recommend ROOH.
Most of the food was cold and our appetiser was served after the main dishes.
Service was not great.
Fabulous food! We were pleased with everything we ordered. Can't wait to go back!
The food and the service was fantastic! The food lived up to all of the reviews!
Food was spectacular.
Only 2 things:
1. They didn't honor my request for the type of table I wanted.
2. My wife had to repeatedly go and ask the manager for a candle to be put on the dessert we ordered since it was my birthday.
So, in general, service was meh, but food was great.
We had an amazing time at rooh. Food and service was excellent
Excellent starters and drinks. Main courses were fair at best. Service left much to be desires
I've walked by this restaurant several times and have always been tantalized by the aromas. I was able to enjoy dinner with 2 clients on Friday night and the food did not disappoint! Haley described dishes and checked on us often but was not intrusive. It's the perfect place to share appetizers and mains with the table. Chef Pujan Sarkar brings wonderful flavors, blended with creative presentation to his dishes, and the cocktails are also praise worthy. Thank you for a wonderful evening, and for your support of Meals On Wheels.
Have fun with drinks and appetizers - the main course was not as much fun.
This restaurant is amazing the food was excellent and the service was perfect. We had the oysters and the lamb main dish. It was difficult to choose. I will definitely return. We went early on Friday night and easily got street parking. If you love Indian, you will love ROOH.
Food was fabulous and so were the cocktails. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and it was such a nice end to our day in the city. Highly recommend.
Had a lunch meeting and it was fantastic. We started with a cauliflower appetizer. The sauce that came with the fried cauliflower was outstanding. I had the butter chicken with garlic naan. It was simply marvelous. My guest had the Monk fish and seafood and she loved it. She was visiting from LA and said it was the best Indian food she had since leaving NYC. I believe this by far one of the best Indian restaurant in SF. I will definitely return
The food was decent but not great, especially for the price point. Portions and prices are high-end, the plating was generally nice, but the flavors weren't anything beyond what you would get at an Indian restaurant at half the price. The service felt rushed throughout.
Food and service are always outstanding. I'd enjoy it more if it wasn't so pricey but I'm such a fan I can't stop going... :)
Great Food, Great Ambience and Exceptional Table Service
We have already recommended ROOH to a number of our friends!! The food was AMAZING - just the right balance of fusion and traditional flavors, and the service was impeccable. Our waiter Vivek was lovely and gave the best recommendations - and the manager, Jeffrey, was gracious and hospitable. They made my husband's birthday really special!!
Beautiful setting with beautiful people! Food was so pretty and full of flavor. Our server, Alex, was gracious and helpful. I'll definitely return and bring more friends!
