I went to Roost for the very first time on Valentine's day... no pressure or anything!
Our server, Grace, was the shining star of the evening. She was perfect. She chatted when we were chatty, and left us to our romance when we weren't as chatty. She rolled her eyes at my fiance's bad jokes, which was the precise response he was looking for. She was prompt, attentive, and nice.
The food was spot-on. The only issue I had was that I wanted more - but that was on me for ordering a salad when I really wanted a steak. The bites of steak I snagged off the other plate were great! The Waldorf salad was spot on - like I said, I blame myself for my own ordering.
I look forward to this new neighborhood taking off and Roost becoming The Neighborhood Place!
If you’ve never been, give it a shot. I’m a big plate kind of guy and the price for the offering was a bit high in my opinion for Dover. Lower rating on food was for my scallops being overcooked. I got a mussel, lobster, shrimp, scallop Alfredo. Overall pretty good.
Food as always was delicious. Server was friendly.
I was satisfied with my meal however my daughters omelette was overcooked and dry and my sister in law found a hair in her meal. Other than that it was really good.
We went for brunch and sat in the bar area, which is airy and bright. The food was very tasty and the service was great. I will return.
We have been 3 times to Roost in the past month. I love the food, I’ve had the edamame salad twice, loved the avacado toast points and the lemon raspberry cake is amazing. Super clean, very nicely decorated with a large bar area. We love it all.
We had a great dinner - me husband and 2 kids. There were lots of wonderful choices for each of us. Scallops, chicken sandwich, blt and salad were all excellent. Friendly and efficient service. Will definitely be back!
We have eaten here a number of times. The food and service have always been excellent. The noise level is better than most restaurants and we thoroughly enjoy this restaurant.
Both dinners we received were excellent - one of the best steaks I have had in a while.
Great server and great food. All four of us had great meals. We had the duck wings and the mussels for appetizers, both were fantastic. We were all very pleased with our meals and our service. This place is great and we will definitely be back.
Service not wonderful. Ten minutes before we even had any one come to table. Food was very good although I think a little pricey for what you get.
We had an excellent brunch at Roost. I’m so glad we gave it a try. All the staff were super friendly and food was delicious!!! We will be eating at Roost more often now.
Food was good, service was great
Good food overall. The four of us were pleased with what we ordered. The avocado toast small plate was delicious and nicely presented. Shrimp piccata and scallops entree were tasty, although the sauce on the piccata could have been a little bit lighter. At the end we had several choices of seasonal desserts. The restaurant is new and nicely designed, however the tables feel close together since there is nothing to buffer them. It feels like an open cafe. A few plants, dividers, etc would make it cozier and add intimacy.
The food was excellent. Prepared very nicely. I had the shrimp piccata. It was very tasty, but I would have liked a larger portion for $21.00. My friend had the Maytag steak salad. It was a large portion. My friend said it was wonderful and couldn’t finish it all. We split a molten lava cake with caramel sauce and ice cream for dessert. It was to die for! I would definitely go back. The ambiance is nice. They have more high top tables, than low top. That wasn’t an issue for us.
First time visiting The Roost and we all really enjoyed it. A wonderful addition to the Dover restaurant scene.
Went twice last week while I was back in Dover visiting my parents. Love the ambience and the food is really delicious. Super friendly staff as well! Will be back in my next visit to Dover. It’s so nice to have a quality restaurant on that end of town for those who live that way!
The Roost was fabulous. The food was amazing. We had the scallops appetizer, the salmon and the roasted cod with crabmeat. Everything was delicious!! Our waitress was very good! We can't wait to return!
We were a party of 6 on Sunday, October 6th. Everyone was pleased with Roost. The servings were ample and food delicious. The area we were seated in was quiet. I imagine the bar area which is large and has a number of dining tables could get quite loud during normal dining hours. The menu is large with many options. Very nice and we will definitely return.
The atmosphere ambience and service where Outstanding as was the food. I do feel that the parking lot needs to have handicap spaces and curb cuts with ramps for access by elderly folks I am not sure how the town of Dover has allowed in the parking lot to be built this way.
Went for dinner Thursday night...amazing specials, wine and desserts. Sunday brunch was very different. Waitress wasn't present very often. We waited an hour for our breakfast and we were the first ones through the door. I will try it at a later time. I think they may still be working out the kinks.
Hostess was dressed oddly, no apparent uniform or dress code. Waitress was good and attentive, although it took forever to get our drinks. It was not very busy at the time, the bartender was doing "busy" work instead of mixing drinks. There were also many open tables, it was only 5:30 pm. The food was quite good. Some may feel the portions were a little small, but I liked the amount served. The atmosphere was bright, casual and relaxed. I would definitely go again.
We were excited to try this new place...the reviews we saw on line were good...the venue is excellent very nice restaurant and atmosphere...we were seated but then no one came to serve us...when a wait person did come over they apologized for not coming sooner. The food was very good...would like to see more selections...also we were never told of the daily specials which in hind sight after we saw them posting sign outside-we realized we would have liked to order the special! too late no one told us what they were!
Delicious meal and the chocolate, caramel turtle torte with ice cream is awesome! We come weekly and never miss dessert!
Time to expand the menu maybe add a crab cake appetizer!
The food is very tasty, we go quite often! I do wish they would have a few more offerings since we go at least once a week! Restaurant is very clean and all of the staff are friendly.
Was surprised at how amazing the food was. We had randomly picked ROOST. And it was excellent
Great place! The drinks were excellent and nice variety of food choices. Also, plenty of parking.
A calm ,well decorated restaurant.
The service was excellent .
The menu has many interesting choices . The drink I ordered had fresh juice and was very tasty .The food was very good . The sandwiches are large .
Will return .
I have brought many friends and family since you opened. Great place, chill atmosphere but classy at the same time. Great staff—they seem happy and don’t reveal any stress—very professional and familial.
Dover needed a place like Roost. SO impressed. Going to try their brunch soon!
Creative and playful menu, with a nice mix of options for all dietary needs. Especially cool to find that the chef had been very intentional about making most items naturally gluten free. A great night out with friends, and a perfect location for the get-together.
First time there . Ate on Patio, Food was good, reasonably priced. Glad to have good food in the neighborhood.
I’ve been to Roost several times and have had wonderful food each time. I would suggest serving bread with the shrimp dish, as it is cooked in a delicious sauce that shouldn’t be left on the plate, but “mopped” up with bread. Each time I’ve ordered this dish, I have had to request bread, which the server has always graciously brought to the table. I also think the dish could have more than 4 medium size shrimp for the price.
Everything I have had has been very good and most, but not all the servers are very attentive.
The decor is soothing and lovely - Roost is a nice place to have dinner!
Went there for dinner and the atmosphere and service was great. The food however was disappointing. It all looked and smelled appetizing but the texture/cook was off. My duck wings were flabby not crispy and my seared scallops had no sear whatsoever ever. All white no golden brown to be seen or tasted. Despite this set back we will defiant go back to give them another shot and order something else. I have pictures but they aren’t the right format for this site and it won’t allow me to upload them.
Enjoyed the Roost with A group of 8
We were all extremely happy with everything
It was Dover restaurant week, and we decided to try this new restaurant. Very good, although almost completely empty when we went. It is in a new development which is not yet complete. Food was great as was the service.
The menu was engaging as was our server Kate! Fantastic experience and we will be back!
New local spot in Dover with outdoor seating and easy parking is always a win! Service was good and interior is new. Appetizers were the best with Dinner following a close second. However, don’t waste your time on dessert. No espresso machine for cappuccino - creme brûlée was store bought tarts that they charred... quite embarrassing actually. Fried dough with dipping sauce had the same effect... frozen store bought dessert- highly disappointing.
All in all I do recommend and will go back - just won’t be getting dessert!
Not enough food to satisfy normal appetite. Mussels were size of little fingernail and many shells empty. Shrimp and Pork appetizer good but nothing to to go back for.
Burgers need a lot of work to be satisfactory. Looked like a 3 oz. pattie.
Drinks were very good though expensive
The Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich bread soggy, the fried artichoke hearts flavor bland, tap beer overpriced
