We had a wonderful evening at Rubino's Kitchen for my daughter's 13th birthday party. Gorgeous food, beautiful, cosy interior, and everyone was so friendly, the even let my daughters help make their own dessert when they found out that one of them wants to be a chef. Thank you so much for making my daughter's birthday so special.
We are not Vegans - Indeed I am very much a meat eater - but wanted to try the monthly Vegan night at Rubino Kitchen. 6 courses for £30. The food was cooked well, presented well and service was very friendly and matched the mood of the night. Nothing wrong with any courses, but some were more of a hit than others. I think we missed the "cheese" - both on the Risotto and in the Cheesecake. However, thoroughly enjoyable and we'll book again but for a "normal" night in the new year. Definately worth a visit and the food is always excelent. With a few glasses of wine for the two of us it came to £90
Quite delightful....really good food and charming service.
Little hidden gem. First time here but defo not last. The food was excellent, the venue is cosy and small which we like. Simple menu with 5 or 6 choices but all top quality and plenty of flavour. Would highly recommend. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Also gave us a free glass of prosecco as it was anniversary. Nice touch. Will be back soon!!
Lovely little gem...wonderful Sunday lunch and evening meals. Never disappointed.
Love Rubino Kitchen, food and service always outstanding. This time we were there for Sunday Lunch, Roast Beef, Yorkshires, Roast Potatoes, delicious! Will be back soon.
This was our first visit to Robino’s following a recommendation from a friend. Great little restaurant serving good quality food. The fixed price menu was great value and even included a glass of wine or beer. Service also superb........highly recommended.
Went for one of their monthly vegetarian/vegan evenings. Lovely food, quiet and comfortable surroundings and great valuse (£30 for 6 taster courses) food. Attentive service that put you at ease. We'll be back in December.
We had a lovely family lunch at Rubino Kitchen which was a special birthday treat. We had the Sunday roast which was meat only but they were very accommodating when we explained we had a vegetarian member of the party. The food, service and atmosphere were all wonderful. We’ll definitely be back!
A small, very personal restaurant with a quirky menu. But reat food and attentive, friendly service. We wil go again
A lovely experience, food prepared with love served in an intimate setting
Four of us had lunch last Friday and the meal was excellent. Imaginative and delicious starters and main courses - perfectly cooked and so well presented. Desserts good as ever; rhubarb ice cream is special. Service was a bit slower than previous occasions but no matter - we came to eat, and talk, and have a good lunch and Rubino delivered on all those scores. They did, though, recognise the slower pace and removed second glass of Pinot Grigio from the bill.
This is a local gem of a restaurant and I know we'll return many times - value for money can be a driver for eating out but there is more to finding this type of lunch than just price. Rubino is starting to really to 'hit the spot'.
Rubibos is a lovely rural barn conversation by Chighborough lakes near Maldon.
We had Sunday lunch and all courses were presented well and had lots of taste.
The ambience was cosy.
Pleasant and professional staff, who were attentive without being overbearing.
Thanks Rubinos for making our wedding anniversary special.
Great food, good service and nice venue (albeit quite small / intimate).
As always a great atmosphere, welcoming friendly staff and delicious fresh food!
One very slight quibble with the food. The Gazpacho was a little fibrous. But overall an excellent lunch and our guests enjoyed the restaurant.
This was our second visit to Rubino's and it wont be our last. What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Great food and a beautiful setting
We were warmly welcomed and put near a table with the speaker switched off at our request.
Starters were delicious. We all had the beef which though tasty ,was very chewy and not easy to cut.
Vegetables were unusual and full of flavour.
Deserts were beautifully presented. Wish I had had the raspberry panacotta, as was a delight.
Service was a tiny bit slow.
Overall the ambiance was perfect and we could all talk away and easily hear each other.
Love the masses of hand washes in the washroom !
Small menu but it consists of well-crafted and thoughtful high-end Italian and contemporary european influenced food. The chef is obviously very talented and shows a great detail of awareness to flavours and presentation. I honestly cannot fault the food at all the entire menu we tried was outstanding. The venue itself is small but charming holding no more than 20 customers at once in a well placed in a converted barn in the essex countryside. Be warned that you are not eating in a pub restaurant the prices are quite high when you compare to other local establishments. However, outside of London the prices are excellent for this type of food if you compared. The staff are polite and show a good awareness of what is going on and to customer needs. Decent wine list but quite pricey. I would definitely recommend this restaurant a visit on special occasions.
Staff made this visit! Lovely little spot, Sunday roast was good value and nicely done. Noting was to much trouble. We will be visiting again!
Delicious fresh food and really friendly staff! Second time eating here and will definitely go back again! Great value for money. Would definitely recommend!
As always, had an outstanding meal at Rubinos. Couldn't decide between the delicious choices, so had the taster menu. The tomato gazpacho with avocado sorbet was to die for, and just genius. Enjoyed every course and every glass of wine. Was nice to chat to some of the other customers at the end of the evening too, who were taking a long weekend break in the area.
The restaurant is in a very unique building and location, it was very pretty at night. The food was very delicious and the service was really good but felt that although the food was good the price was a bit high. Still very much recommend it.
My wife and I live local to the venue and tried it on a Saturday night. We checked the menu before arrival and knew it was quite small - but we liked the dishes. The welcome was very warm. The service was excellent and definately a highlight from all involved. The food was cooked, and presented, very well. Maybe a little more cheese on that course would have been nice but the cheese was excellent. It is quite a cozy venue - maybe 16-20 covers maximum inside - so you do tend to get distracted hearing others conversations; but part of the fun. My wife loved it, and I thought it was very good. With a couple of glasses of wine, 3 courses + tea and coffee came to around £90. So good value and an enjoyable night. The menu changes every month and we will return.
Wonderful food and service. Can't wait to go back!
Ideal place for an excellent value good quality lunch at £20 for 3 courses and a beer / wine / soft drink. Reasonable choice with a pasta bias (they make their own pasta). Stand out dish was probably the smoked haddock scotch egg (soft egg) starter though deserts were also excellent. Pleasant rustic cool ambience and attentive service.
Went for one of Rubino's monthly Wednesday vegetarian and vegan evenings. We weren't disappointed and shall be returning.
Lovely setting with great food. It was the first time we had been for Sunday roast, just beef, top quality and served to your liking. Fabulous veg - more of everything offered , but not required. Starters and puds excellent. Very good wine list. An extremely relaxing place to be.
great location, good great and the service out of this world. Thank you had a great dinner
I liked the cosy feel of the restaurant and the staff were pleasant.
For £20 including a drink our lunch was good value. Not huge portion sizes though so if you are a big eater it might not be sufficient for you.
Plenty of parking which is good
My boyfriend treated me to Rubino's for my birthday....and Boy what a treat!!!!
The food was excellent, we both carpaccio , which really was full of flavour and melted in the mouth.
I had scallops as my main, which were heaven.
If you appricate good locally sourced food, cook with flare , in a unique setting, then this is for you, I would highly recommend, and cant wait to return .
Having read other reviews about Rubino Kitchen, we decided to make a reservation. Very small, tucked away location. Limited menu on a Sunday, but ideal. The meal was made up of generous portions , well presented by friendly staff. Great value too. Would definitely reccomend
Lovely experience, amazing food, cannot wait to visit again
Outstanding food, nowhere else in the area comes close, great service, a memorable meal.
This is the second time we had a meal at Rubino’s. Except for the three steaks which were not up to scratch it was good. Just disappointed about the steaks as we treated our two guests and wanted to introduce them to Rubino’s as we like the food, service and ambiance.
A delightful lunch in this charming intimate restaurant.
Fantastic food and great service. lovely small restaurant, good ambience.
Yes - but only those that like quirky!
A number of our friends would find the food fussy, as they prefer simple "basic" food, whereas my wife an I are pretty adventurous.
I've scored the food as as average, due to the Skate we both ordered being dry and crying out for some moisture - such as a black butter. The quality of the fish and ingredients, were of a very high standard.
Regarding my starter - Pasta filled with Beef, whilst delicious, it lacked the "Consume", other than the merest drop contained within the pasta shells. A side jug of Consume would have elevated the dish to exceptional.
My wife's starter - Nettle Risotto, was outstanding. She commented that it was probably the best starter she had ever had - quite an accolade!
As always, we were made to feel very welcome and the food and service were excellent. What a lovely touch to be greeted with a complimentary glass of bubbly on arrival as it was our anniversary. Loved the little ‘in between’ courses that came out. The flavour combinations are excellent.
Very friendly, lovely food, lovely service.
Couldn't fault it. Had a lovely anniversary lunch.
