Great staff great food nice cozy neighborhood spot will be back
My absolute favorite restaurant in the Bronx.
as you enter the door it seems to be in Italy. the place is very clean and perfect for any type of occasion, I felt at home. Francesco the waiter is Italian, very nice, professional and attentive, as well as all the staff even the owner Gennaro is Italian. I’m The food it’s “oh my god” delicious and fresh!
I'm literally addicted to the Nudi pasta but everything it’s amazing.
The food in all of the restaurants on Arthur Avenue is terrific. However, at San Gennaro, everything was excellent! The people are fun, too. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants an authentic Arthur Avenue experience.
Such a cute Italian restaurant! Loved the food and the wine. An excellent experience all around!
This is my second time in this little place they never disappoint me food and service they are outstanding!!!!!! 100% reccomend
The food was absolutely delicious. The waiters were very friendly and nice. What I loved was that the food was brought out to our table in a timely matter so that was a plus. :-) I had an amazing experience there and I definitely will be back to dine there again. I couldn’t have picked a better place then San Gennaro. This was a perfect choice. Thank you to all the staff at San Gennaro for a lovely dinner. You guys are absolutely amazing. And to anyone thinking about going to San Gennaro to dine I highly recommend to go! :-) Thanks again.
My second time here they treat me like family the food is outstanding like my first time. I fill I am in Italy 🇮🇹 waiter, owner and the waitress they are super welcome this is my favorite space .... real ITALIAN 💯
Nice place, the food was great. The service was not great.
It was very good.
Good food. Not staffed sufficiently - very mediocre service. Owner/waiter was a rude big mouth.
Beautiful place love the staff are always so welcoming and the food is great thanks again
Service was timely and friendly. Th anti pasta was great.
Our threesome shared our dishes. I loved the veal Gorgonzola w walnuts and my chicken cacciatore was the group fave.
Awesome homemade cannolis for desert.
Go and enjoy
The food was fresh and delicious. The restaurant is small and quaint.
This was the first time we’ve eaten at San Gennaro. We’re from Staten Island and we go to Arthur Ave a couple of times a year, usually after a visit to the Bronx Zoo Or Botanical Gardens. We went on New Year’s Day with a group of 14, including 2 children and 2 vegans! We decided on San Gennaro because they take reservations and were enthusiastic about our large group.
The service and food were outstanding. In addition to the regular menu, they offered a good selection of tempting specials. I ordered the branzino special, an entire fish surrounded by shrimp, clams and shrimp in a slightly spicy tomato based sauce. Absolutely delicious. 2 of the guys ordered the ribeye special, which I tasted, and it was excellent.
Prices were very reasonable. Entrees under $30, many under $20. Shareable appetizers around $15. The imported buffalo mozzarella with prosciutto and arugula on flatbread had 4 good-sized pieces. And it was exceptionally delicious.
Very impressed how quickly the food arrived for so many people!
We will definitely return next time we’re in the area.
Great local gem, food was fantastic, staff couldn't be more friendly and accommodating.
Delicious dining experience. Wonderful service. Must visit
We were party of 9 they took reservation, and it was awesome - great menu, food, service, wine & cozy casual setting. highly recommend!!
San Gennaro was a delightful place to have Christmas dinner. The service was attentive and the waiter was outgoing and really engaged with us. I had the lasagna special -- phenomenal! Everyone else at the table loved the food, although some of the portions were a bit small for the price. Definitely one of the better places in Little Italy.
Small restaurant with great food with lots of authentic Italian character.
We went here for Christmas Day. There were nine of us. It was a wonderful experience. The owner/chef/ and staff were very welcoming. Restaurant is small but cozy. The bathroom is so pretty. You feel like you are in someone’s home. My favorite dish was the Nudi pasta....it was exceptional. I also enjoyed the zucchini appetizer special. Great wine selection too. We will be back San Gennaro!
Was my first visit in this restaurant I get really impressed about the menu and the special they have the bufalo mozzarella melt in your mouth omg!!! the branzino and gnocchi special ( sausage e cannellini beans) out of this world .... after we had homemade dessert and they have a big selection of homemade limoncello all different flavor I get the basil and my girl get the limoncello cream outstanding..... definitely we'll be going back. Now this is my favorite restaurant
Place is beautiful and cozy food is great you’ll definitely be seeing us again:-)
We went for lunch and it was quiet, so we had great service. My husband thought the fried calamari was a 10/10, and he is a foodie. I would have liked it hotter. Our 4 person party loved the veal chop, the sole special, and my fish was delicious but the sauce was a little heavy for Bronzino which is a mild fish. We had a great time!
Friendly staff! Food was excellent! Quaint little place. Would definitely go back!
We had a fabulous time. Everything we ordered was delicious. Staff was friendly and informative
We sat at one of the 3 tables near the front entrance and door. The room appeared to be an addition or extension to the original restaurant. It was cold and drafty at times. The service was OK. My husband ordered a second glass of wine that came after the meal, but we weren't charged. My husband ordered the special veal osso buco which was on the dry side. While one pasta was just OK, another was very good. However, the pasta portions are small so make sure you order plenty of appetizers or you'll be hungry. In fact, the best part of the meal was the special flat bread otherwise, the meal wasn't memorable nor would we dine again.
We were a large party of 8, they were wonderful and did there best to accommodate us. The food was unbelievably delicious. I would definitely recommend to friends and relatives.
This is a very cute restaurant with good food reasonably priced.
Luckily they accepted our reservation that we had made within the previous hour, though were looked a little panicked when we showed up. Some of the food was good but the lasagna special was terrible: dense pasta densely packed, little ricotta cheese filling and not enough sauce. I kept thinking the lasagna felt like it had been reconstituted, as if previously frozen... just not a fresh “special.” The kids enjoyed their pastas and the Caesar salad was tasty. But not worth the price.
We had reservations on a busy Saturday evening. A person who appeared to be a combination head waiter and host sat us immediately. He has a great personality and made us feel welcome. He called over our waiter who explained the entire menu. Despite the big crowd waiting on the Arthur Avenue sidewalk for a table to become available, we were not rushed. The service was friendly and very responsive. The food was fantastic.
The entrees were great. The artichoke was disappointing and not worth it. My only complaint was that there were little gnats the entire time.
The specials were amazing and so was the pana cotta. Gnocchi Gorgonzola was disappointing.
Love this place. Food is so fresh and delicious. Waiters are great.
I had put a review on the website.
Was very impressed. He went above and beyond in the meal and service. Very friendly atmosphere. I will be returning for the festival they have on the second Sunday in September.
Great food. Wonderful and attentive service. Great value
San Gennaro is owned by chef Gennaro. He & his staff are on duty interacting with customers. This is a friendly place with a casual vibe, very reasonable prices, and great Italiamn comfort food.
We went for Parents Weekend at Fordham University. San Gennaro graciously moved our reservation to an earlier time. The restaurant is small but has seating outdoors and big storefront windows that were open so it did not feel at all cramped. The food was delicious (eggplant parm melted in my mouth!).
We will definitely return.
Relaxed hospitable atmosphere, warm staff and very good food
My favorite restaurant on Arthur Ave. Best food, best atmosphere!
We did go during the festival last Sunday but it wasn’t busy at the time. We asked to sit outside and when we asked the waiter for a wine list he rolled his eyes and said he’d be back. He came back and said we needed to sit inside to drink which we understood. So we moved inside and the second waiter also seemed in a hurry to get us in and out. He only had about 7-8 tables but he never came back to refill water (which mine was emptied) or check in even once to see if everything was ok. We asked the bartender for our check because as I said our waiter never came back once. Food was ok and wine was a nice glass but that was it!
