When My friend and i arrived at Sea Smoke, The receptionist already knew who i was and seated us quickly. The waitress was polite and served us our food in a professional manner. The appetizer called Dragon Tails was very delicious.. And the main course, Derakkusu Maki, Was very filling! We had dessert too, Mousse and cheesecake... Which was extremely delicious especially the cheesecake!
The atmosphere and aesthetics of the restaurant were charming and well lit, And as for the food, Everything combined was priced very well, Totaling to 100 dollars (Plus Tax).
This was a great restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy with private tables. I went with my girlfriend and we wanted to try everything, but settled on 4 small plates, which were amazing. The service was friendly and attentive. My girlfriend went to the washroom and while I never checked it out myself, it appears to be the only thing that was a bit off... in that it was, in her opinion, out of the way and appeared to be in more of a warehouse location, down a long bleak hallway. Just not something she expected, based on the elegance of the main dining area. Overall, we will definitely be back.
this place is definitely one of our favorite restaurant in Halifax. We go about once a month and its always 10/10! :)
Great location! View of the Harbor is fantastic. Food was very good and recommend a visit.
Great place to go out on a Friday night.
All other restaurants close by were full but Sea Smoke made room for us.
Again, a terrific experience
Miriam made our evening wonderful! Her eye to detail along with a fantastic fusion menu was a great experience
Nice place for lunch. It has a good waterfront view and the lobster rolls were very good. We had good service, and would recommend the Sea Smoke for cruise passengers since it is a fairly easy walk from the cruise terminal.
Great spot! Lovely patio with fire table, lovely view of harbour and delicious food.
First visit to Halifax, looking for a late night bite. Rode the ferry from Dartmouth and walked toward the fire pots. We sat inside because of the chill. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the oysters and our Sashimi combination was just right for the two of us. Excellent choice, personable servers, highly recommended!
Nice atmosphere and friendly service.
I had the the rock shrimp as an appetizer and the miso black cod as an entree.
Both were very good.
I will definitely eat here again.
Location is (almost!) everything. Our table asst was terrific; separately, she volunteered 2b our wait asst bc no one else attended -- u decide!
We had an excellent meal, sitting on a lovely patio enjoying the sea breeze. It was made even better by the manager, Shelley, pitching in with her staff to ensure everything ran smoothly at every table. We will definitely come back next time we visit Halifax!
Food was fantastic , loved the Black Mamba and the Sea Smoke Sushi .. Outdoor setting was wonderful .
Way overpriced for the food. We had to wait 15 minutes to be offered a drink. Had 5 different servers. I am celiac and asked that all be gluten free. Mussels came with bread. Sushi was good, appetizers not so much. Wouldn’t return.
The food was very good, a bit more expensive but for the location was fair.
Sea Smoke has a great patio but the menu is limited and overpriced in my opinion. The food was ok but a little uninspired and I was disappointed with my cocktail, it sounded delicious on the menu but felt unrefined while I was drinking it. I am not interested in going back.
Service was slow although restaurant was not full.
Sushi was great however quantity of food for the price on other dishes was low
We are regulars to this wonderful new establishment! The staff are so warm and engaging and willing to help! The food is outstanding – best sushi in Halifax. The deck on the waterfront is so well decorated and cosy and totally the place to be!
Public washroom ? Come on !!!! Had to ask for service - was told it was " ... it is really busy ..."
The food was horrible, over priced and not fresh. Miso soup, salty thin dishwater, sushi and sashimi not fresh, sashimi platter was ugly, with fish hidden among piles of shreddered carrots. A hot dish of chicken stuffed with vegetables, was dry, badly seasoned plate reminiscent of bad airline food, for $32, geez. The topper was after a $165 dinner for two, the restroons had mo towels to dry your hands This restaurant needs a chef, needs to find better sources for Seafood ( i mean you cannot find fresh fish in Halifax?), and reduce their excessive prices.
The Ahi Tuna Maguro Tini and the Mussels are particularly fantastic... oh, and the ribs. All the food was creative and well thought out. The décor and setting manages to be stylish and relaxed at the same time. Great service - relaxed but thorough, not naggy, gave good suggestions.
Great fresh sushi with a wonderful view!
Best meal in Canada so far. Great shishimi and great service
The food was so good and our waiter was great as well!
A new favourite location!!
Good food and ambiance. Outdoor patio with heaters and blankets was nice. Only complaint is that the food took way too long to come and our server looked like she was run off her feet while others were standing around. It wasn’t that busy but took us 3 hours to get in and out.
As close to a 5 as you can get. Good food, great service, Riedel glasses an inspired wine list and a great view. Recommend highly.
The sushi was delicious 😋
The outdoor patio perfect
Unfortunately a few service issues with a new server ; however she will get better with experience
Also unfortunate the people at the table next to us we’re very loud!! Fortunately they left before us and we found some peace
The start of the meal was great but quickly went downhill. Our appies came and we were really enjoying them until our entrees showed up about 5 minutes later. We weren’t even halfway through. The protein portion of both our meals was yummy but all our sides were freezing. Cold mashed potato not very appetizing.
We were on our 50th wedding anniversary journey. This was our best meal in Halifax. The food was so fresh you would think they just surf casted to bring it to the plate. But what made it exceptional was our server Taylor. Her warmth and exuberance paired with her food and wine knowledge made it what I would hope for anyone on a special adventure.
Great menu combining sushi with other Asian inspired dishes. Excellent location right on the harbour, is good for people watching during the summer when the boardwalk is busy.
Excellent quality in creative sushi. The views sitting on the waterfront boardwalk are wonderful. Great for tourists.
We were quite excited to try this restaurant after following them on Social Media for a while. The location is great, the ambiance is lovely, the view can't be beat. Our server seemed lovely, however was clearly overtasked and was not able to provide the level of service you would expect - we waited a long time to order, she didn't come back to check on our meal, or even drinks. We actually got water from the bar twice and were not able to order any additional beer/wine. The sushi rolls were high quality, delicious, and as described in the menu - top notch. The braised back ribs were actually side ribs, we addressed this with the server but she just said she wasn't sure and brushed it off. This restaurant has a lot of great features but I'd really see no reason to return due to the lack of service - complete unacceptable when you consider the prices, the alternatives available nearby, and then fact their lowest recommended tip is 18%!
Absolutely amazing food and service
Can’t waut to return
Great food, great atmosphere. We will definitely be back!
Server was very slow with drinks !
Very nice atmosphere. Had sushi and lobster sliders to start. They were delicious. Then i had surf n turf, which was amazing! I died. My friends both had lobster stuffed halibut. They really enjoyed it. The service was slow, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. They also were limited in their beer choices.
The food was amazing. We had a bunch of Maki Rolls and sashimi to share. Our server seemed new to the menu but he went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was a great one.
