Food was delicious and presented beautifully. I especially liked the sushi and my salmon dish. My husband really liked the pork. Very attentive and friendly staff. We chose this restaurant b/c it was near our theatre and had very good reviews. It did not disappoint. Would definitely eat here again.
Great service and food - a very lovely evening !
Everything was very good; except the price of the drink at $18 - too expensive.
Food not worth the money. Extremly small portions. Chicken soup was watery with only 1 chunk of chicken. Dessert choice was limited and extremely bland. Spent about $70 here and still hungry. Many better Japanese places out there. Music too loud. Dont waste your money and time.
The food was delicious. We especially liked the burned salmon ceviche. The service is relaxed and friendly but very attentive. The ambiance is relaxed and it is possible to have a conversation around the table without been drowned out by noise. Would definitely visit again.
My new favorite restaurant. Wonderful flavors and fresh yummy fish. Attentive service. Lovely calm atmosphere.
I enjoyed dinner at this restaurant. The wait staff did a great job in recommending different dishes and explained the menu offerings. Upscale Japanese/Peruvian fusion food. I really enjoyed the flavors. I enjoy finding unique restaurants with great food. I will definitely visit again. Reasonable Prix Fix dinner special.
Excellent meal at Sen Sakana... agree with other reviewers that the addictive cucumber appetizer was terrific. We enjoyed the sushi as well as the gyoza and the skewers. Nice sake to accompany the meal. Very attentive service. A place I will go back to.
Fantastic food and service, as always. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city, bar none. I have introduced many people to Sen Sakana, including my most recent dinner on Tuesday, and everyone loves it. Everyone.
No tiene nada de especial... solo me gustó que no les gusta pedir propina por el servicio
The Japanese food menu is good however, the Peruvian-Japanese fusion needs to be improved.
High quality sushi, great staff, perfect service and great prices. No tipping concept is awesome! Addictive cucumber was delish and scallop was succulent! Open your mind and enjoy the flavors!! The only thing I missed was a fine wine pairing with their super fresh fish. I will be back to try more.
Great service and food . All associates were congeable and fast. Had a great experience at SEN Sakana. Toll my friends about it.
Would recommend more for the grilled skewers. The roasted mushroom empanada was disliked and returned. The "addictive" cucumber was very delicious. The Lomo Saltado was delicious but on the pricey side for the size of it. The sushi was also very good. The Pisco Sour was good but was also smaller than expected. Was hoping for more authentic style Peruvian dishes although we knew it was Japanese fusion going in. The waitress was amazing.
Creative blend of Peruvian and Japanese cuisine elements in pleasant atmosphere. For lovers of sushi, sashimi, fish courses, and fusion an excellent haven to experience delightful cooking.
Excellent waitress and overall wait staff. Very good noise level especially for NYC. The food was innovative and delicious for the most part. We intend to return next time we are in NYC to try other things on the menu.
I was surprised by the quality of the sushi and the service at this restaurant! I would highly recommend if you find yourself in the Times Square area. The Charred Edamame appetizer is a must. The Crunch Hamachi and Spicy Tuna were delicious.
Really amazing experience. The food was so unique and so delicious! As an appetizer we got the "Addictive" Cucumber and it lives up to the name, it was so flavorful and delicious! The Sexy Sen Sakana sushi roll made another great addition to our meal, a bit expensive for a sushi roll but it was so so so good it was worth it given the NY mark up mindset. Our entre's were delicious as well and with the appetizers we weren't waiting at all for them to come. The only caution I'll give is on the cocktails. They're not so overpriced, pretty standard in fact, but they're nothing special, and we could have shaved about $50 off our meal for two if we'd decided to just get drinks at our after-dinner show. All in all though I was so satisfied with our meal and experience that I didn't feel stung too hard by the expensive bill, especially because the restaurant has a No Tipping policy. I definitely feel we got great value!
Had a great time with friends. Travelzoo offered $200 value for $135. Every dish we had was so delicious. The only thing is that it’s super dark in the back room. I couldn’t see the menu. Had to use my light from my phone.
Excellent, inventive Japanese/Peruvian cuisine. Gracious and knowledgeable staff.
We were in the back room which was cold and unlike the rest of the Reataurant which I love
We ordered the prix fixe menu for our pre-show dinner, and boy was it a hit!
Everything was delicious! The service was great and the atmosphere was just right.
I wish I had gone at a different time so I could take more time to savor everything.
I feel confident to say that their whole menu must be delicious!
Our only "just okay" dish was the sushi rolls. They were okay but nothing special. Lean more to the fusion type foods, they were the best.
Also, it's a no tipping restaurant, and I hope that means the servers are well compensated. It was nice to just pay the bill, however.
Sen Sekana is a dining event you will not regret!
We were sitting next to a large table of screaming drunk 20 year olds, we could not hear each other talk, management did not offer to move us when I told them of the noise. If you are a drunk 21 year old, I would eat here
Great place to go with some friends, but not on a romantic dinner. Ambiance is fun and happening.
Service is excellent, and the best part tip is included.
Just be careful when you are at the Bar, they offer Happy hour drinks until 7:00pm, but I was never told that, so ended up with a $20 glass of Pinot Noir!
Food is very good, and gives Japanese food a new twist. Location is perfect too, especially if you need to be near Grand Central.
This is our 3d dinner at Sen Sakana. We love the food, the staff and atmosphere. Happy Hour is a great bargain! We had 3 wonderful drinks--all interesting cocktails that are quite strong, yet innovative and delicious! The bar staff are so attentive, helpful and knowledgeable. Our dinner was superb. The menu items demonstrate beautiful Japanese and Latin American fusion cuisine. Our seafood soup, chopped hamachi main course and dragon roll were fantastic! The starters of shishito peppers and spicy edamame were ample and quickly served. We plan to return and highly recommend it! BTW the non-tipping policy is interesting in that their service is uniformly superb. Every time we go to Sen Sakana we feel like royalty. They are attentive but not intrusive.
Food was mediocre and service was slow. Would not recommend.
Awful service, although food was wonderful . The servers were the rudest I have come across in years. They made it a very unpleasant dinner, making us feel very unwelcome.
Love the fusion between japanese and Peruvian food .
Great service with suggestion of the menu.
Service fast and very nice waiters.
Love place ti visit if you visit NY specially if you stay at the Sofitel Hotel is very convinous almost infront of the hotel.
Everything was excellent!
Great service, great food, great drinks.
the chef converts an ordinary cucumber into a major delight. the homemade tofu is silky, spicy and spiked with citrus in vials. You can make a meal of appetizers or go for a whole dinner. Either way, the food is great
Great service. Energetic atmosphere. Earnest and personable service. Great food and presentation. Excellent wine and liquor selection.
Outstanding service; our entire group was really impressed with and incredibly appreciative of the team at Sen Sakana.
The food is amazing. A perfect place for people who have dancing tastebuds.
Amazing! Everything from the appetizers to main dish to dessert and cocktails to the service. Price seems high to me, but I am not from NYC, so perhaps it’s all relative. I would most definitely return!
This place was outstanding from top to bottom. Fantastic food and drinks, great service and honestly phenomenal value for NYC. Very high quality fish. I would eat here again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend the acevichado.
The food was delicious and artistically presented. The service was awesome. My Peruvian friend and I enjoyed our visit. We are already recommending the restaurant to our friends. I will go back with my family.😋😋
Seated promptly. Four women. We ordered a bunch of appetizers, small plates and skewers.
The cheese balls were delicious. Pork-belly-wrapped cheese - pork belly was undercooked so fatty and not crunchy. Waygu beef skewers were tough! Root vegs chips were tasty as well as the sauce that came with it. Yucca fries were tasty and crunchy. Quinoa, pork belly, corn salad was weird-tasting, but not necessarily bad (I just didn't like the spices they used). Sweet potato waffle and ice cream dessert was also strange. Service and ambiance was very good, and Samir was a pleasant and fun server. There is no tipping at this restaurant. I cannot complain about the service, but the food, not so much.
This is a really nice restaurant with warm friendly service and my second time going.
It's a solid reliable choice for a business lunch, with the one caveat that it's noisy and the music is almost foreground when it would have been better as background. We sat in a room towards the back which seemed almost an in-between place, as if we had landed in the pantry behind the bathrooms. Other rooms have better ambiance.
Will definitely be back
