Love this restaurant. Had Sir Elton John's favorite Hamburger. It was delish.
The Senator wine bar is a wonderful venue for live music. We heard Julian Fauth with Carlos del Junco, both great musicians. The food and service were good too. We just wish the chairs were more comfortable. The existing cafe chairs are just not designed for sitting for three hours to listen to music!
Had reservations. Waited 20 minutes for tablr
We went on a Friday night for dinner and live music. We liked the Senator Wine Bar’s cozy space and atmosphere- and the food was very good. We plan to go back again soon!
Awesome service, delicious food.
Went for a pre-theatre dinner and while the staff was hospitable and lovely, the menu is limited. I ordered the daily catch, my dinner companions ordered the burger. It was all very salty. Two of us developed severe bloating and had gas pain all through the show (and into the morning). Neither of us managed to finish our meal. So while the food looked good and tasted good, apparently it was not good.
Great ambience. Lovely little spot conveniently located across from Mirvish theatre. Food quite tasty and service attentive. Expensive, though.
Great service by a super friendly server Shannon. Food was good , a little tight & noisy but that’s what makes it charming.
Going to Mirvish production after !
Nice spot. Not elegant if that’s what you are looking for. Service was great. Food was decent. Lots of places in the neighborhood. May look to somewhere else next time.
Very enjoyable pre theatre dining experience. Wait staff very friendly and attentive.
Noisy but cozy. Friendly staff. Great comfort food. Definitely will come back
Excellent service a d food was great. We had hamburgers
Dining at The Senator is like taking a date to the 1950’s. The food is excellent. The atmosphere is classic and nostalgic and there’s an initimasy you don’t have in many restaurants. Also, the food is excellent
I truly enjoy going to the Senator. It's loaded with many great memories as well as good good and friendly service.
Good food. Good beer. Friendly, attentive and helpful waiters.
A lot of things go into making a visit to a restaurant an enjoyable experienece. The quality of the food, the value in the price, the ambience, and the Senatot has all these sthings.
But the great intangible is how the restuurant makes you feel. Do you feel valued as a customer, do you feel that the staff are truly extending themselves to make you feel it ia a pleasure to have you there, and I think this is where the Seantor realle excels.
Shelly, the manager is the perfect host from the time he greets you to the time you leave. And the staff follow that lead for your entire visit. It;s a very enjoyable experience.
Overall a good experience. Server forgot water twice but had time for the women beside us. Booths too tight for 4 adults.
Another great meal, as always. It was our first time dining upstairs! A little bit quieter than the main floor, but the room filled up fast.
Tried the eggplant Parmesan, which was delicious. Shannon (server) is always attentive & fun and we are always warmly welcomed by Shelley!
We will return.
We just like the place. The people are friendly, service is fast , food is good and it is convenient to the Ed Mirvish theatre.
Always love going to the Senator and having such a warm welcome. Delicious dinner!
Perfect Vodka Martinis.(shaken)
Never better lamb chops! - ever.
Duck breast to die for.
A favourite of mine anytime in or around down town.
Food was fabulous. Thank you Andrew for the great suggestions and brilliant service! We will be back for sure, again!
It's an old-school diner-style (high-end) restaurant, with booths and bar service. It's super convenient if you're going to the Ed Mirvish theatre, or something in the area. The space is narrow, and the menu is limited, but they're friendly and welcoming.
Service was VERY slow and the restaurant was very noisy but the food was worth it😀
It's great before the theatre if you are served in time. We had 15 minutes to eat once our food arrived, not acceptable since we were there for over an hour.
Love the ambience ~ the staff were awesome and the food was devine! We were served in a timely fashion, on time for Anastasia.
Our waitress Shannon was amazing!!! She was very engaging & took the time to tell us a bit about herself & ask us about us. Very, very enjoyable evening. We loved sitting upstairs.
Too noisy and had to yell to hear my husband.
Good food, good service and very convenient location.
Food is delicious and never disappoints - many appetizers enough for pre theatre bite. Great service always knowledgeable and pleasant. Real old style gem in TO. Decor tired but somehow charming.
Great pre-theatre dinner!
Loved our dinner at the Senator before Anastasia. Our server Shannon was hilarious and great at her job. We will definitely be back!
We've visit the Senator many times! The service is excellent. We always enjoy our meal and ready to go to the theatre.
Food is Delicious. Great location if you're going to the Mirvish show. Small, so can be noisy and in some cases you are sitting very close to the table next to you.
Great place. Like stepping back in time. The decor is from a time we all forget. Service great, food good. Definitely worth a visit.
It wasn’t anything special. I was disappointed and didn’t feel I got value for my money
A lovely pre- theatre dinner with family. The burger, salmon special, soup and beet salad, and liver plate were wonderfully prepared. Our server was stellar! Highly recommended!
The Senator is a lovely spot for an evening of food and entertainment. We were impressed with everything — and we really appreciated learning about the room’s history from the owner. The staff were friendly and the entertainment was perfect. Definitely will be back.
