I recommend the food but that’s about it. I’m going to try another location because the service here was absolute TRASH. Not only were the appetizers cold when we got them but every request I made or question that was asked with answered with a, “I’ll be right back to help”. It took over an hour for my food to get to me and I was sat in a very cramped area. It was a busy night which I understand, but the workers were just walking around as if the restaurant wasn’t full of angry customers. There were at least 10 workers and only 2 appeared you actually be doing their jobs.
bad service overall! Kitchen mixed up orders! Servers can only apologize for the mixed up and delay food.
Cheap drinks. The spices on the seafood is phenomenal but the seafood itself is not the best quality.
Portion size compared to price was amazing. The house shaking seasoning/sauce was so flavorful with a heavy garlic flavor, so freaking amazing. The drinks came out way too slow and you can tell the management of staff and organization is not their strong suite. Good news food comes out quick and everyone is nice they are just all over the place. They could water more, refill drinks more but lets be real. Came for the crab and the food did not disappoint i would highly recommend, in addition to going back and trying more amazing seafood!
Portions at the Porter Square location were smaller than the Boston Commons location and I ordered the same meal. 🤔
Delicious and good value! Suggest getting medium spice on spiciness scale as that's darn spicy already. Staff is excellent!
Nice environment, great service but the food too salty !
I thought that the food was slightly pricey but after trying it I realized that it was worth the price. Fresh and a great representation of how great seafood in the Boston area could be. I brought some family members to this restaurant when they came to visit me from New York and everyone enjoyed their meal, I would definitely come again!
The service was bad. It seems that the server was new. Which was not the worst part. We had a party of 9. They came all the way from Virginia and I chose this place to take them to. 1 person didn’t get to eat and 1 person got there order wrong. Instead of them just making it right, they made it look like our fault. Turns out the server put the order in wrong. Manager didn’t even acknowledge us or come over. I work for Marriott. We are in the same industry. We all make mistakes. But what sets each establishment apart are the things we do to “make it right”. Customers don’t come back to places because they are perfect. They come back because no matter what, we “make it right”. This place failed to do that so it will not receive my business or another $350 from myself and anyone else I tell to not go here

Poor quality seafood compared to similar restaurants in the greater Boston area. Small portions. Mild sauce was still pretty spicy. Food runner brought the food out, server didn’t come by for a good 10-12 minutes so if we needed anything it was pretty much too late at that point. She was too busy breaking down the patio seating and giving another female coworker a massage by the bar, I had eyes on her the whole time, she just didn’t care to keep her eyes on us. For 3 people, it was quiet a waste of $140. I wouldn’t return.
Great location easy to find parking. Staff are pleasant and there is enough room to get busy on your food.

The food was DELICIOUS. Usually we go to Capt. Louis in stoneham, and this place was just as good. Mussels were a little weird they had some seaweed inside them but besides that the crab and sauces were delish. Totally recommend . I think as well they should lower the volume of the music as there is some people who want to converse during dinner together but cant with the music. Service was excellent no complaints

We had a fun family birthday dinner at the Porter Square location. It was a little hard to figure out the menu, but my kids have eaten here before and helped me out. Nice sized portions!

Overpriced for the quality of the food. The Cajun fries were great, the seafood average. There are places in the greater Boston area with much better value and taste for the same experience.
I ate here with my wife and 3 sons for mother’s day and everything from the service to the food was great. My wife ordered a watermelon margarita which she wasn’t happy with and the waitress gladly got it remade for her. Good food , good service, good times!
Great food! Amazing in fact! The drink were subpar and service was overwhelmed and not friendly. We waited 15-20 minutes for drinks ordered when we arrived. We didn’t see our waiter/security guard most of the night.
I would visit again but maybe the bar or other location as it was that bad of service at the table top seating.
The crabs was overcooked. The medium sauce I requested was extremely hot. I could not eat it because of the heat I was in discomfort and kept coughing. I suggest making the sauce less intense if you have hot on the menu and the two is the same intensity why even bother having the two if it is the same. Take away from the enjoyment of the meal.
It was good food
The food was a little too salty, otherwise it was good. The service was good. We were there between 4:30 to 6 on Sunday. It was not busy so it was rather quiet.
Best location I have ever been to. Spacious, very clean, the food and waiters were great.

Have tried some of the best seafood boils in Las Vegas, Florida, and DC so we were excited to try the same in Boston. We were disappointed with the flavor (or lack of). Gumbo was not very good and clam chowder was only served warm (but tasty). Po boys were ok, but bread was not toasted. Seafood boil in a bag lacked sauce. We won’t be back.
The food was excellent as always, but this was our first time at the Cambridge location. As soon as I set foot in the door I knew there would be a problem with the excessive music level. I immediately asked the hostess to turn it down and she said she would see what she could do. We were seated in a far corner and it seemed as though the noise level was almost tolerable, but very quickly it increased to a very unpleasant level. Two or three times during the evening I asked for the sound to be turned down and it seem to work briefly but then very quickly the volume became intolerable again. I would strongly advise that no one ever plan to have dinner in this restaurant. The service was also very weak. We ordered a large salad to share and it was brought to the table without any plates! Although we requested them no oneever appeared. I went and hunted down another server who then had someone bring over small paper containers
I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant for takeout but will never die in here again

I was disappointed with the service I received; I ordered a cocktail from their menu and then they told me that their drink menu wasn't live yet. I don't understand why they would distribute this menu before it's ready. The drink that I wanted was a simple Mai Tai made with Captain Morgan and Triple Sec, so I'm not sure why the bar wasn't ready to make it given that it required no special ingredients. Instead, the waiter offered me their "standard" Mai Tai. Fine. However, when the bill came the "standard" Mai Tai that I got was more expensive than the specialty Mai Tai I originally tried to purchase! The sum of this experience gave me a sour taste and made it feel as though they were taking advantage of me.
My first time will not be the last time. I even think my picky eater of a sin would enjoy this place!!! 👍🏾❤❤
Fun Experience, and good food. Shrimp was my favorite. Garlic noodles were delicious. Would recommend and will be going back.
This place was amazing from their buttery garlic bases to their hospitality. Namee was AMAZING. She always had a genuine smile on her face and checked on us just the perfect amount of times. Would definitely come again and recommend this to my friends!
The food was pretty good, and it was definitely a unique experience. But the service was comically bad. The hostess who sat us forgot to tell the servers about us, so it took about ten minutes for someone to finally come by to take our drink orders. Then they got our order wrong twice! It took about ten minutes to finally flag someone down to bring us the check -- we actually ended up going to the front to ask the hostess. And then, to top it off, we got the folio back with the receipt but no credit card. We had to get up again to ask the hostess to find our credit card.
We absolutely love Shaking Crab!! Our first time at the Cambridge location because Quincy was closed. This location is huge and we were impressed by the amount of seating they provide. The service was a little slow but it was New Year's Eve so we understood. Nevertheless, the food was very-very good. My hubby and son ordered the gumbo and didn't care for it; thought they needed to get the recipe from the Quincy location. The drinks were really good, the waiter was happy and very polite and they all seemed to work great as a team. The food portions were very impressive; they really know how to take care of you. So... amazing food, great svc, great location and great portions. I would give them a 8.7 out of 10. The gumbo was the only thing that we didn't like but that's no biggie. We will definitely be back.
