We sat at the bar, which now has plexiglass between each seating area. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We shared the octopus appetizer, a good sized portion and very tasty. We then split a Burnt Pepperoni pizza, which was wonderful. Crispy crust, with little charred bits of pepperoni as well as pepperoni slices. Just enough heat, but not too much.
Great food and drinks. Love the outdoor dining.
The food and service was superb. I've had Siena Tavern on my "to do list" for quite some time and they did not disappoint. I am planning another visit soon to try some other menu items.
A bit slow at the hostess desk considering I had a reservation, they took one group’s temperature but then didn’t take ours? Our service at the table was excellent- an absolute pleasure. Food was delicious and memorable!
Service was a little slow, and we had to remind our waiter of a few things, but overall it was an enjoyable experience! Great food
Everything is always amazing at Siena Tavern. Ambiance, wine, food, staff (everyone from our server Joe, to other waitstaff, and managers). All A++.
Amazing food and service. Highly recommend.
I have had the broccoli kale salad with chicken before at lunch. I order it for dinner and was very disappointed as both the chicken and salad were dried out
I’ll keep this simple ... location, outdoor atmosphere ... both great !! Service outstanding ... Christian was a super server. The food was literally average at best. I realize I’m a tough Italian food critic, but honestly average is being more than kind.
The Siena Tavern has al fresco dining currently and has gas lamps to keep the patrons warm. We celebrated my husband's birthday and he was very pleased. We split a tasty grilled octopus and an artichoke salad to start followed by squid ink pasta with lobster and spaghetti with crab. Both exquisite! Chocolate cake and Tiramisu were to die for.
Never disappoints. Love this restaurant
The outdoor seating set up was very good and well distanced. Great use of heating lamps as it was a cool evening.
However, I ordered the spaghetti with crab and could barely find any crab in the dish. The price of the spaghetti was not worth what the price.
We had a 6:00 reservation. We were lucky to be seated outside right away and was told of a 90 minutes allowance of time. No one came over for drinks for about 20 minutes. We ordered the drinks and said we wanted to order dinner at that time which we did. Our drinks arrived about 45 minutes after we sat down and we said we wanted to order dinner. The predinner salads came shortly after. One entree was brought out at 7:30. Ten minutes later we asked about the other entrees and the manager came to our table. He mumbled something and said it would be another 15 minutes, putting us there well after two hours, we chose not to stay. He brought a bill over, it was over $125 for the wine, 2 salads and one entree. We thought he said, albeit not sure, that we should just leave a tip. For whatever reason, we did, but when he picked up bill/money he acted like some of it dropped out since it did not cover the total. We told him that was for the tip and he took it out, tossed the tip back at us and walked away. Attitude and service was horrible! We ate when we got home...never again!!!
The food was amazing. Covid-19 Safe and friendly
Very pleasant place with great food, service. Great place also if you want to meet interesting people by the bar.
We had amazing food and service. Drink prices were a little high. We ordered the spaghetti with crab and a lemon cream sauce, a pizza with half truffle and half carne. The carne was our favorite. For dessert we ordered the flight of gelato, I was expecting more, we also had the bombolinos. The caramel and strawberry sauce was amazing. Can't wait to return to try other pasta, salads, and appetizers.
Normally this place is great, think we just came on the wrong day. The weather was nice so we requested a table outside. They sat us right away but it was the table right where people enter, and the speaker is also right here so it was a little loud. We told jim our waiter and he had us moved into the last outdoor table in the west corner of the patio area. Jim did a great job explaining the menu items to us and we ordered drinks, oysters, a pizza and the salmon.
We finished our drinks and patiently waited for the oysters. After awhile we grabbed an employee and asked if he could let Jim know we would like to order another drink. Jim was busy at other tables and after a few minutes we were considering cancelling the oysters because they were taking so long.
I got up and walked over to Jim and asked him for a drink menu.
The oysters came 5 minutes later and the pizza shortly thereafter.
We finish the pizza and Jim comes over and takes our drink request. By this point I think Jim realized that we were not thrilled with the service.
After a few minutes the drinks came and then the salmon. The salmon was dry.
The next time we saw jim we asked him for the bill and he got it for us.
My favorite part of a meal is the dessert, we decided that it was best to pay the bill and go elsewhere for dessert.
I don’t know if it was us being in the corner or them possibly being understaffed or something else, I am not sure l, but it turned out to be a very disappointing dining experience.
Everything was top notch as usual. Nice socially distanced outdoor area. This is hands down one of my fave restaurants in Chicago. You get incredibly prepared chef food at a reasonable price and the cocktails are all outstanding. This is precisely why it is always booked and you have to plan ahead at least 2 weeks to get a table- even during a pandemic!
Server was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Had plenty of recommendations and their chef is a former winner of the TV show Top Chef. Highly recommend stopping by when you have the chance.
Thank Thank well you have
One of my favorite restaurants in the city. The food, service, and ambiance is always impeccable! I brought a friend who has just moved to town, and he loved it.
Birthday celebration. I love this place!!! The food n experience was great. Only complaint, I booked outdoor seating and they sat us inside. Not a big deal but I did notice empty tables that were later filled.
Business lunch during COVID close to the Loop. These days not so easy to find.
Fantastic service, Covid-friendly, clean, delicious
To keep this review simple, everything was perfect and delicious! Great service and very organized!
Went for brunch and it was amazing, maybe the best we’ve ever had. We ordered the goat cheese omelette with pancetta bacon along with banana French toast and both were exceptional. Potatoes that came with omelette were a highlight!
Great food and service.
EVERY TIME I’m in Chicago, I make time for Sienna Tavern. This time, however, I shouldn’t have! The food, ambiance, and pricing were all fantastic, BUT your service was not. There were 3 of us and we were coming from the airport and we were famished! We ordered 2 grilled octopus appetizers and a salad to start. I ordered the carbonara (which was amazing!), my girlfriend ordered the seafood linguine, and then my boyfriend ordered a pepperoni pizza and tried to order the papardelle bolognese (no longer on the menu) but was coerced into ordering the lasagna because it was the only pasta with bolognese. The first comment from the server was snide, but I let it go trying to give her the benefit of the doubt when she replied to my boyfriend, “As I said before, the only pasta that has bolognese is the lasagna.” Then he wanted to order another pasta, in case he didn’t like the lasagna, and her response was, “you have ordered more than enough food here.” WE HAVE NEVER BEEN DISCOURAGED FROM ORDERING MORE FOOD AT A RESTAURANT BEFORE! And the fact that it was in such a rude manner, made it worse! At that point, I was appalled and wanted to speak to the manager to remove her as our waitress. My boyfriend had convinced me to let it go because we had a guest and it being her first time here, he didn’t want me to cause a commotion. So I sat quietly, enjoyed my dinner, while loathing the service on that night.
First time here. Octopus, oysters, crab spaghetti, scallops, half and half carne/much room truffle pizza. Everything was excellent, presentation, flavor and service.
We were seated immediately upon arrival and our server was attentive, friendly, and gave some good wine pairing suggestions. The menu shows an imaginative twist on Italian. We had the watermelon starter and the scallop and pork milanese entres. All were prepared well and tasty but I found myself scooping up the sauce from my husband's scallops to eat with my pork - the sauce was acidic and complex and cut through the fat of the fried pork. It was incredible! We enjoyed our dinners.
Our first time dining at Siena Tavern and we were totally satisfied!
I love the Truffle Mushroom Pizza.
They have options for everyone but it slightly leans towards an Italian vibe if you ask me. Love it here and will be back.
I took my boyfriend at his request for his 60th birthday as this is one of his favorite restaurants. I made the reservation and had a few requests: a booth and not near a wait station. I also let them know we were there for a birthday celebration. Sienna did not disappoint. We had a booth that faced out to the street and not a wait station in sight. We were greeted with a Happy Birthday also!
The service and food were outstanding, we even got a desert as another birthday wish. We rolled out of the restaurant full and very happy!
Thank you for a wonderful experience. We will be back soon.
This was our first time back to Siena Tavern since Covid. We were able to sit outdoors & were totally socially distanced from others. The food was delicious as always & our waiter was very good.
Service was prompt, food was incredible and the wine was immaculate!
This place was recommended to me by a coworker, and I always walk past it when I’m in river north. Finally made a reservation and I’m beyond satisfied. I recommend the coccoli, baked lasagna, and brick chicken! The service was great!
My favorite of all Italian restaurants because it is so delicious and the outdoor ambience is great. It can get a little loud on the street because it is right downtown. The brick chicken and any of the pizza's are just wonderful. I love the waitstaff too. Very friendly to pets as they have a Puppy Ciao menu. My chichuahua Lulu just adores the pup burger.
