Smith & Daughters
Housed in an historic bluestone piece of Fitzroy history (the oldest pub In the neighbourhood, once frequented by Bob Marley!), a meal at Smith & Daughters promises a tasty good time for all.
Awesome service and delicious food! We will be back!!
I was very impressed with the food. The staff were very friendly. Highly recommend the carbonara, yum!! The ambience was easy going and fun. Will definitely return :)
Amazing food. Good atmosphere with friendly staff. One of our new favorites!
Food very salty and not very healthy. Poor variety.
Food awesome, staff excellent - recommend if you have a group booking to ask for table at back or against wall as the long shared centre table has a divider shelf - great if you don't want to talk to the people on the other side but I had half group on one side and one on the other!
I was really looking forward to eating here but it was pretty disappointing. Out of the three of us that went I was the only one that actually ate my meal. The others couldn’t get through theirs. I didn’t think it was so bad as to be inedible, just not really worth the trip.
I wouldn’t say the staff were rude, they were just disinterested and more going through the motions than anything else.
Delicious as always. I would have given 5 stars for food but there was an apricot seed accidentally left in my salad that hurt my teeth real bad.
Always a pleasure dining here though.
Thanks for everything.
Great food, highly priced.
I would return for special occasions only.
Tiramisu is a must!
Food was okay but overpriced. Overhyped and expectations didn’t meet reality.
Food was quite nice. Enjoyed the chickpea dish but the slaw needed more seasoning. Disappointed that we were not allowed to split the bill- the restaurant was quite at the time so didn't take up time!
Always a great experience whenever i go. The staff are exceptional at the job and food is simply the best.
The best vegan food we've ever had. The eggplant, carbonara and ragu are phenomenal, the steak was a bit of a let down though. Tiramisu and apple fritters were incredible. We live in sydney but the distance is worth it
The service was good. The food too spice in a way , no one could eat. The chef traspasses the level os spiceness, if that exist. We left to eat somewhere else. Bad day. It happens.
Had an incredible lunch... so we went back for dinner with more friends!
Service was friendly and quick, food was hot and delicious - the eggplant was sensational and you really should be selling jars of the fig/chilli/hazelnut magic!!!!
Will go back next time in Melbourne!
Very enjoyable. Food was delicious! we will definitley come again
There is nothing bad to say, I will definitely be back it was amazing from start to finish 🤗 my aim is to try the whole menu.
It was good but we felt a bit rushed. Made a booking for a special occasion (anniversary) but had to vacate table because of time seating constraints. We fully understood the rush but it just sort ruined the pace of the evening. Didn’t even have enough time to order/eat a dessert. Also the slaw was very one note and needed more acid for the bitter fennel.
Exceptions food and service, great place to be. Would go again and highly recommend!
Amazing food, beautiful atmosphere would gladly eat there every night for the rest of my life.
Food was amazing
Service was pretty good
For those who forget their glasses menu was hard to read
Best vegan restaurant in town. The atmosphere, the food and the amazing service made this lunch a great experience whilst visiting Melbourne. We even came with our young kids (1 and 3) and they absolutely loved it!
The food here was absolutely amazing! Vegan or not anybody would love it here. Got the antipasti appetizer with cheese and prochiutto and it tasted like the real thing. The eggplant is out of this world amazing too.
Perfect spot for vegans and non-vegans alike. Smith and Daughters serves up inventive food that all can appreciate. And hey - everyone deserves to eat some carbonara and feel good about it!
Farewell dinner for our daughter
Always great food and even the non vegan family members.
Always great vegan food & fabo staff.
Amazing chopped slaw & breaky pizza.
Not a vegetarian, but had been keen to try Smith & Daughters for a while. Well, I'm glad we went! Meals were lovely! Good portion sizes, menu was diverse, oatmilk coffee was a new and delicious experience, and the Coco Black coffee was perfect. We will definitely be back!
Smith & Daughters take Vegan cuisine to another level. This restaurant is fine dining for Vegans. Perfectly cooked food with well-balanced flavours. Eating vegan has never been so delicious. Thank you, Smith & Daughters, for creating such amazing food.
We have been to smith and daughters twice for celebration dinners and have enjoyed it so much I rave about it to anyone who’ll listen. As an omnivore I can say the food is outstanding and certainly don’t miss eating animal products (in many ways this food is better tasting).
Do yourself a favour and get there now!
Recommend the feast me option.
Amazing experience. Feed me was so generous and delicious. Great atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back!
Incredible food, great variety of drinks.
Smith & Daughters serves creative and delicious dishes, they also have very friendly staff.
Love that you can pre-order cakes and serve them at the end of your reservation. The chocolate cake is sooo good and moist.
It’s objectively amazing. As in not good FOR vegan but good REGARDLESS. I’m not even a vegan but a flexitarian. Just go! Perfect place for a catch up dinner with an old friend I hadn’t seen in years - ambient and fun but still good for conversation. Can’t wait to go back and eat the rest of the menu
First time at Smith & Daughters (currently doing Veganuary) and was very impressed. Had been warned that portions were small and therefore it felt expensive for what you were getting. Therefore was surprised when the waitress recommended 2-3 dishes between 2 of us (didn't sound like enough and I had been eyeing about 9!). We ended up opting for 5 dishes - we shared the Cacio Pepe Chickpeas with a pre-dinner drink (an interesting cocktail with espresso and orange flavours) and the portion was actually too much! We then went for Grilled Peach & Bocconcini Salad (the best fake cheese I've ever had!), Potato Pave and Fried Baby Eggplant before finishing with the Tiramisu. A waitress recommended the house red, that came in a carafe, to accompany our dishes and this was perfect. It was busy and tables are very close together so it does get noisy and sometimes we struggled to get staff attention despite there being a lot of them but overall good experience. There are more things we would like to try so we might just have to come back!
It was awesome! You won't believe that everything on the menu is vegan!
Another amazing dining experience at our favourite restaurant. The baby eggplant and Caesar salad were definite highlights!
Lovely and the staff were very accommodating for us! Thanks guys
The noise when we first arrived was ear shattering. So much could be done to improve acoustics without compromising ambience. The service was friendly and efficient. The food, while generally good, was not as good as I expected. The cabbage dish was great as was the aubergine dish. The meatballs were not great and really, we didn’t understand the necessity to allude to meat and then not really pull it off well. Just celebrate being vegan and go for it with newly imagined excellence. The deserts were average. Give up on the tiramisu and go for fresh, fruity and textured dishes was our advice. Show us something new.
We had lunch so I was a bit disappointed that it was only a breakfast type menu. Dinner is a far better menu choice.
went out of curiosity, and was pleasantly surprised and impressed. I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but I'd go back in a heartbeat because it delivers on flavour and inventiveness.
Really enjoyed our dinner at smith & daughters. Even if it says plates are meant to be shared, we (2) enjoyed having a small plate plus bread as starter and two large plate as mains. The large plates were extremely good (loved that week‘s special!), the small plate (chickpeas) not very creative, the garlic bread was a rather cheap type of bread. The espresso was sour. Something wrong with the machine or it’s settings! The service was very helpful, quick, and made this evening a nice experience!
