Sofia's in short was disappointing. The website build-up is promising. Touting itself as Mediterranean was appealing, but alas misleading. Typical Italian is more descriptive. The online menu also had attractive selections. One could even overlook the higher prices if a gourmet experience were forthcoming. But it was not. The food was average at best, with very little creativity. And the waitstaff has yet to learn how to help customers have an enjoyable experience. Sofia's is new to this particular neighborhood. IMO, the management has yet to decide what its identity is -- who are their target clientele, what level of cuisine and at what price and in what atmosphere do they aspire to provide. 'Nuff said...

Our 1st time visiting this restaurant as just moved to the area. It was a quiet Monday evening during the off-peak, but Chef Angelo greeted us as we were being seated and when he heard it was our 1st visit, he lit up and you could tell he wanted it to be a special experience. He cooks right there in an open kitchen next to the dining area, and you can see how much enjoyment he gets from creating a wonderful meal for his guests. He created a "special" seafood meal for us that was not on the menu or specials list, and it was fantastic! He was also making all the other guests feel special as he delivered meals to the tables and checked on their satisfaction, etc. The service by Brianna was also excellent. By far the best meal and service we have had as we explore this new area. We will be back!

What a great anniversary dinner! From the food to the experience it was all wonderful. The owner is the head chef and he was so personable and greeted everyone. He even invited us for a complimentary dessert tasting which was amazing. Sofia was our server and she was the sweetest!! Definitely will be going back!

We were greeted by the chef when we arrived and from there everything went well. Everyone was very professional and the food was really goood. Thank you very much!

This is Italian dining at its best. The owner, servers, chefs, and other staff make the whole dinner a delightful social experience. The food is terrific, and the service is both impeccable and relaxed, making you feel like an old friend. Kind of like "Cheers" but more upscale, of course, and solidly Italian cuisine. In short, I haven't felt this good about a restaurant in a long time. These folks do it right!

Sofia's has excellent food but very high priced. It would be nice if they added a salad when you order a $49 snapper meal. Can't complain about the food though

This is by far our favorite restaurant in Lakewood Ranch. The food is amazing. service outstanding, and the atmosphere is wonderful. We adore the owner Angelo and his staff as they are so warm, kind, attentive and thrive off if offering the best service in town!

I had booked a reservation on Open Table well in advance for last evening, October 17th for a birthday event, party of five. When we arrived at the restaurant, there was a sign posted on the door, "Sorry We are closed for a Family Event." I received no notification that the restaurant was closed. This is the second time this has happened. The first time it occurred back in September, I received a text from Jason at Sofia's informing me the hood system was down so they were closed. I received this text right as I was in front of the restaurant ready to go in. I even purchased a $500 gift card from their restaurant that I am certain I will never get to use. We ended up eating dinner at Remy’s and was told that Sophia’s was in deep trouble and that they have treated their staff badly and can’t find people to work there. BTW, this was our first time at Remy’s and not our last! We had great food and service at Remy’s! Angelo, do us all a favor and close for good to put everyone out of the misery you are causing!!!!

Only complaint was that the wood chairs are too hard for sitting a while. When we told the waitress at the end of the meal, she said they have cushions - too late for us. Overall great food and service

Food was alright, had the muscle apps and tasted like frozen muscles. Not what i am used to. Had the filet mignon special and was ok. The pepper corn sauce was the best part of the dish. Service was very pleasant and we enjoyed a bottle of wine.

Salmon and pasta were delicious. They shouldn’t serve saganaki because it was hard and dry. Not anything like I remember from Greek restaurants.

Food was overpriced and uninspired. Pasta accompanying salmon was simply boiled with not flavoring or sauce. Saganaki ordered was small portion and yet cost $19. Service was fine but overall experience not memorable.

Our first time at Sofia’s restaurant was fantastic. Our server Gregory was so accommodating and answered all our questions regarding our menu choices. Chef Angelo came to our table and introduced him self and explained how he decided to open his restaurant in Lakewood Ranch. From appetizers to entrees our food was delicious and we will definitely be returning to this venue. The eggplant with Burrata was outstanding and the chicken limoncello was so tender it we didn’t even need a knife to cut it. Definitely put this restaurant on your go to place!

I was hoping for good food but was disappointed. The calamari was rubbery, the veal and chicken dishes tasted the same so we weren't sure which was which. The sauce was sloppy and they were both flabby and a little chewy. Oh well..

Not the Sofias I’ve read about, that’s for sure. Fist time with another first time couple. They were short handed on the wait staff and since that is no fault of our waitress, I gave her high marks, she looked exhausted but always pleasant and had a smile on her face. Friends had a pasta dish and a chicken dish. Pasta dish was said to have a good sauce and the chicken dish came with mushrooms that were not in the description. I ordered the sea bass with shrimp special, the sauce was good but that is the best I can say. Both the shrimp and the sea bass were just on the other side of over cooked. Husband had a rigatoni dish, pasta was inconsistently cooked, some over done some under done. We sadly classified this dinner as one of the worst we had anywhere. Did we say anything at the time, no, because this meal too over two hours as it were, we each only had one drink and main course, not because we didn’t want more but because we couldn’t get more. I just couldn’t see how a complaint would have improved anything.

Delicious! Interesting pasta selections, loved the veal limoncello, similar to a piccata sauce with artichokes, lemon and capers. Definitely planning another trip.

You us us dined on Thursday night. The meals were plentiful and good. I ordered Chicken Parmesan. The chicken tasted like cardboard. Prices are on the high side. It was worth to try it. The chef was very friendly. Our sever had too many tables.

We were early customer at 5pm. The food entree was very good. The main course was good as well, but not warm. The pasta was almost cold and the limoncello veal or chicken for for my wife also lukewarm.

Food good, Ciopino much to spicy. Server should have inquired how spicy we would like it. Both our dishes were in a sauce. Took home leftovers. They put these heavily sauced dishes in snap together Styrofoam. Sauce all over the plastic bag when we got home. Had to throw it out.
