Closed. Still taking reservations though. Not cool.
The restaurant is closed. Out of business per a sign on door. We had no idea. Please call ahead.
Despite being available on OpenTable, Soma was closed when I arrived. No explanation.
They were closed when we got there and no one answered the phone.
Fresh, delicious sashimi combo as well as omakase nigiri. Excellent service, helping us with both warm and cold sake.
Great food but mediocre facility. Service was average.
This place was a little loud to have a business lunch, but the food was good. The service was nice but my food came out slow.
Overall a pretty good spot for dinner. Clean and friendly. The sushi quality was good but had better. The restaurant ran out of the rolls were originally wanted but the alternatives were good. The sushi rice was a little overdone to my taste. The appetizers were tasty. Would recommend the small plates. The OMG roll was overwhelming in presentation (a mess) underwhelming in taste.
Would go back if in neighborhood for happy hour.
Very good casual spot for fresh sushi. The service was very attentive and the food came out quickly.
Kind of disappointed. Very quiet place on a Saturday night. This place won’t last. Sushi/sashimi mediocre. Big but tired cuts because they might as well get rid of the fish before it spoils. Sushi rice not premium short grain so the owner is cutting corners. It’s an Izakaya but they don’t serve pitchers of draft???? No skewers iof anything. More like a typical California sushi biz with no one Japanese in the house.
Food is mediocre, they have the motor of AC at the front so you have to speak loud that the server can hear you. We ordered Saba Shioyaki but the fish is not very fresh and it was super salty. Everything else is ok, nothing wow.
The staff here was great! They were kind, attentive, and welcoming. We really enjoyed our food and beer. The OMG roll was very generous and delicious. It had a little too many sauces than I prefer but I can see how someone newer to sushi would lose their mind on this roll. The rice was cooked and seasoned perfectly for the spicy tuna and shrimp rolls.
Portion size too small for the prive
Consistently great food. I usually order the Donburi but everything is outstanding. Thoughtful service.
Very good food
Authentic flavor without too much sugar. Decor is very tasteful. Service is good as well. Sushi was great. Great place to take out of town visitors. Parking is ridiculously easy on the street. Owner is native Japanese and has opened a second restaurant on El Camino on the peninsula. But he definitely trained his staff properly with regards to the recipes, proportions, plating, and service. Good job! As a Japanese person, it is hard for me to find places where the flavors have not been Americanized or the plating no longer done correctly (portions too large and just dumped on the plate). This place still does it right!
The food was wonderful. I would highly recommend the Wagyu Beef Stone.
I brought customers and we were all delighted by the quality, size of serving and flavors of dishes and rolls. Sashimi was generous and melted in my mouth. Going back!
Everything was super tasty, with great service and a great atmosphere.
It was fine, but very pricey all things considered. Would like more simple rolls.
Fabulously delicious food, with some traditional and unusual flavours one doesn't see too often. Nice, but inexperienced servers just need a little polish (make every trip out from the kitchen count, folks!). One HUGE no-no is the TV on in the corner as it ruins a nice space, that isn't being billed as a bar space anyway, so why??? It's very expensive, and noisy, so despite it being delicious, save it for an expense account or have your tech millionaire friends pick up the bill.
It was perfectly fine sushi, but definitely nothing special. The menu was relatively small, with relatively few roll options, most of which had something spicy in them (not my preference). It tasted fine an reasonably fresh, but pretty run-of-te-mill. And for what you get, I found it pretty price. I ordered a modified version of a roll with unagi and (cooked) salmon and a little fish roe. It cost about $20 and came with noting; I hpaid extra for a small cup of miso. The food and service were fine, but honestly would have been happy to pay half as much at Whole Foods sushi bar for a roll that was just as tasty but half the price (or less).
The sushi we ordered was delicious! Duck had tad too much vinegar, waygu beef on stone was ok, nothing like the picture you share online. The private room had nats flying into our food.
The server struggled with basic questions (regarding ingredients--I'm dairy-free and don't like fried foods), but was very gracious. Manager personally made sure that the remake dish was to standard. Let me tell you it was--best roll I've had in a long time! Fresh ingredients, made a vegan and omnivore friends very happy. Great prices for the city as well.
We have dined here several times in last few months. It is always excellent Can’t want for next time
great staff and large menu with choices for vegetarians. our guest time here and we will come back
I randomly found this izakaya looking for something to eat nearby and I was pleasantly surprised by the freshness of the food. The service was fast and very friendly. The sake selection was good and I loved the fact that I could hear my friends talking. I had unagi, uni, and toro nigiri that was quite tasty and I would definitely come back!
My friend found a hair in her poke, and my soba came 25 minutes late and it was over cooked and served with a haphazard fried log of tempura. I’ll never go back.
Went here with my parents and partner. Really lovely time. Excellent food, wonderful presentation, and the rolls were well timed. Very nice service as well. Price was fair for San Francisco. I would come back and would recommend to others.
Pleasure to watch the chef prepare sushi. Very nice sashimi selection.
Great food and service. I have been looking for an ikazaya style place close to Moscone Center. The grilled saba appetizer was amazing. Same with the Tako Yaki and Duck Udon soup! The sushi was very good as well.
I also love how the head chef responds directly to shady reviews on Yelp! Chef Sano is the man!
This is my favorite Sushi spot in SF. Great service and amazing food! The O.M.G. Roll is the best!
