We ate here on Thanksgiving day. Like many other restaurants they had a pre-fix menu. The price was $89 per person and the portions were tiny. Also some items were hit and miss. The soup was great but another choice for app was a sweet potato dish with goat cheese and salad. I got 4 tiny slices of sweet potato, a small handful of greens and two pieces of goat cheese. My husband got a bowl of soup that was huge … made no sense! No way these items should have been considered interchangeable. Bottom line, not worth the price. Portion size is laughable and I left hungry …
Went for the Prix Fixe dinner on Thanksgiving 2021. Pretentious, over priced and under proportioned. Creative flavor choices, that were not well balanced. While great in concept, it left a lot to be desired in execution. The best part was the sweet potato appetizer. A serving of 1 Oz of roasted turkey was disappointing. The sweet corn cake was flavorful but the cranberry mole’ was bitter and played against the meal as a whole. The room temp water they served finished with a dirt flavor, which was off putting. Great atmosphere and the wine, Pinot Noir was also a highlight. The total came to roughly $233 for a 4 course meal for two, we left hungry, and disappointed. Service was decent, but eating on the patio full of dogs was also off putting. Several were off leash and kept wandering. Not what I expected from a Marriott resort.
Food was good and wait staff pleasant but ambience was quite bad … very bright lighting, cold temps. Not very welcoming
Danielle was so personable and helpful! Thank you for the great food aml d music!
While the setting was wonderful (sunset at the beach) and the service was great, the portion size of the entree was very much on the small size. The flavors were ok however, limited choices and very overpriced.
I understand a new menu is in the works, which is needed.
We started out with the truffle fries and fresh burrata and they were good. Although there was just a hint of "truffle" on the fries, the burrata was wonderful. Then my daughter and I shared the Flat Iron Steak and added lobster. The steak was under seasoned and tough and not worth the price at all. The lobster was meat from a whole small lobster and was plane with no drawn butter or lemon to go with. It was just ok. Tasted more like crab. The server was excellent. She was very gracious in helping us find a wine we liked. The ambiance was easily 5 stars. I'd try it again, but wouldn't order steak. They really need to figure that out.
Our server and the manager turned around what could have been a bad experience to a pleasant one. We were very appreciative that they took care of us.
Food was very disappointing. Truffle fries were truffle-free 😟
Worst of all, I asked for Doc Burnstien’s vanilla bean ice cream for dessert, and they gave me “heavenly vanilla” — boring.
We enjoyed sitting outside and meeting wonderful people.
Delicious food, coupled with a great place, surpass by the service of the friendly staff makes for a great night.
Very enjoyable venue and ambiance. Food was excellent. Seated outside, but covered - a fine evening meal.
Food and service were excellent. Drinks were very good. Overall experience was great 👍
We came to Vespera for a little getaway and decided to have dinner on property at Sommerset Grill, shortly after sunset. The ambiance and views were lovely and Lisa was a standout server-inviting, knowledgeable, great with my three year old, and attentive. And then the food…the burrata appetizer and the chowder are a must! I do wish they had more entree selections, but with covid, all menus have evolved and often less options, so this makes sense. Each dish was creative, delicious, and flavorful.
We both had the Mushroom Bologonese. This was delicious and very enjoyable. We are not Vegan or Vegetarian, and this dish was just so flavorful, filling and delicious. This is a must try for all!
Food was ok but the portions were tiny and I am not a big person and generally I’m not interested in taking home leftovers but it was ridiculous for the small swordfish steak and minute vegetables and that was $30 Will not be coming back anytime soon
A lovely location. The food was good but the portions were very tiny for the amount of money they were charging.
The staff was pleasant but did not work as a team with the kitchen so service could have been much better.
After waiting for our desert for 20 minutes we decided to have it removed off the bill and left.
For an upscale restaurant with a hefty price attached to the evening , I would have expected the staff to be dressed accordingly.
Jeans and plaid shirts are more appropriate for a casual dining experience.
Had the steak and it was alright. Very small portions for the price. Approximately 6oz steak with some fries for $49. Quality did not justify the price. My wife had the salmon with green beans and lentils. Good, but nothing special. Definitely not worth the price even with the location.
Avery limited menu. Not many choices to select from the main meals.
The room service menu seems to have more of a selection.
Also prices seem a bit high.
Beautiful site and restaurant/grill, but food overpriced and barely average quality. Given the posh hotel one would think the food would be delicious but sadly that is not true. The burger was dry and had little flavor. The salads were good but not fine quality. Truffle fries had scant seasoning. Drinks were good. Would like to take visitors to our town there but probably won't with many other good choices.
This Restaurant was rated a 5, by me, when they first opened. They have made huge changes to the menu and it is a huge disappointment. The French fries were good and that's the kindest thing that I can say. Filet and Salads were favorites and they are off the menu or changed so dramatically. The Pismo Chopped Salad was once delicious now it has the same name but is totally different ingredients and no taste. Prices have soared and portions are much smaller. The place was dead on a busy weekend perhaps the changes are not fitting well with your Clients.
Food and service were great. Outside table was wonderful.
Cool dining area. Staff was very nice, food was mediocre. Wasn’t a huge fan of the burger but ahi was delicious. The location is beautiful and has cool fire pits. The deck is dog friendly which was great!
Great service and lovely view from outside patio. Food was very good, would have like a starch included with swordfish.
The service and food was excellent. We are definitely coming back again.
Friendly service and nice atmosphere with splendid ocean-views from outdoor patio and fun people watching. Enjoyed the live guitar music nearby. Unfortunately, food was not memorable other than tasty truffle fries. Pea risotto was too salty, salmon was just okay, and it took too long for dinner to arrive even though the restaurant was not crowded. Definitely overpriced for what we got and for all these reasons, we wouldn’t dine there again.
Food was subpar.
Good not good. Service ok. Too many dogs. We almost paid for a bowl of dog food. We check our bill always
Vegan and vegetarian items marked but not gluten free.
Wonderful food snd excellent service! Will definitely come back!
Showed up 30 minutes early and they were very accommodating.
Loved the food and atmosphere!
Swordfish was excellent. Staff extremely knowledgeable.
Food was very tasty, service was slow probs my due to understaffing during Covid. Menu was pricy, but expected when dining at a restaurant in a hotel.
Ambient noise quiet for conversation among four adults outside seating. Service was amazing and drinks and wine well appointed. Loved moving to the fire pit location after dinner. We'll return for sure. Valet parking for dinner guests as well as Hotel guests! A plus in my book.
Food was awful, service mediocre and overall, completely overpriced
Yummy food fabulous staff!
So beautiful right on the beach with great food and service!
The service was amazing! The menu options were wonderful and diverse- definitely possible to have a healthy meal if that is what you are looking for. The cocktails were all made with fresh squeezed juices and were delicious! Right on the water and with live music outside by the firepits. If you choose to eat indoors- the decor is beautiful.
Our wait person was excellent and very friendly. Unfortunately no one acknowledged our anniversary that was noted in the reservation, so we paid for our own dessert. I will say that I did love the chowder ingredients. However, it was a little thin and very salty. The view wasn’t what we expected. We were hoping for an ocean view, but it was mostly a view of the resort.
Lovely dinner for my young daughter and I.
We shared the clam chowder and the lobster pasta.
Our server was gracious and very nice.
We loved it so much we had breakfast at Somerset Grill the next day.
Friends get together
Lovely, attentive staff and great vegetarian options
