The Stagecoach Tavern
Specialty cocktail (ginger, gin) was amazing as was an endive salad (absolutely incredible). Interesting, delicious dessert. Attentive staff. Conveniently located at lodge where we were staying after skiing at Catamount.
The chef is amazing. Combined with the fabulous ambience of an authentic 18th century tavern, his cooking means a great evening will be had. Oh, and the bartender’s concoctions are fantastic...
I try not to write negative reviews for restaurants I dine in unless its extremely necessary.
We arrived 15 minutes early planning to have a drink at the bar but we were told by the host Ivan that the bar would not serve any drinks to customers till they have a table because they were overbooked. After waiting 10 minutes, the bartender comes around to the waiting area where my wife and I with 3 women were sitting with a tray that had drinks for the girls. I didn't want to start anything and kept quiet, a few minutes later, two young men went up to the bar and the same as us, were rejected and told they were not serving. I called the host over and told him that they cannot pick and choose who to serve at the bar, he was a complete blank with no response. The women overheard my conversation and trying to defend the bartender, the reason why they got drinks is because they didn't have a table and they knew him.. I'm like "what"??? that's ridiculous, either you serve at the bar or you don't!!.
we were sat at our table which had been empty since we walked in after waiting 45 minutes, believe me, if there were other restaurants in the area, we would have left.
Dinner was average, half roasted chicken barely any spices or herbs and scallops were way too salty.
After we paid for the dinner, the host comes over and says " Hope dinner was good and I'm glad we made that happen for you guys". I replied back astonished and said " you know we had a reservation right"? he replied back "yes" so I said, why did you just make it sound like you did us a favor? We paid for your fair services and will never come back"! I would not reccomend this restaurant and for sure will never go back.
The venison was awesome! They tend to run out of things (I’ve been there 3x and menu items were gone by 7:30!) BUT the good thing is the whole menu is yummy! Really cool drink menu too!
Amazing service and ambience!
We eat at the Stagecoach Tavern whenever we’re in Sheffield - which is every weekend, as we rent a little house next door. The food is always solid, the service good and charming, and the ambience is unbeatable. This particular meal was a prix fixe valentines dinner, with great food and equally great wine pairings. Will always return. A special place.
The Stagecoach Tavern is in my top 10 restaurants to go to. Such an eclectic atmosphere with amazing food and even better drinks. Can’t wait to visit again!
Great food. Staff was incredibly accommodating. Wonderful historic vibe. Outstanding cocktails! Will definitely return!
Beautiful dining room in a whimsically decorated old tavern. Food and service are both excellent - the cocktail menu is unique and expertly curated to rival any place Brooklyn. Love the warmth of a real wood-burning fire!
Sun brunch w/ jazz is a great atmosphere along with great food
Incredibly flavorful food loaded ambiance and character. A must do for foodies and anyone who loves a great cocktail menu
After a sad slide, The Stagecoach is happily once again a wonderful destination for beautifully cooked and presented mains and sides. Everything is creative, fresh, and appealing. A new chef, the same romantic ambience (although a little brighter; and I do miss the lower lighting at the tables) and a terrific menu. We made a dinner just of salads and various sides and were thrilled with everything. So glad this lovely, intimate restaurant once again is serving wonderful food.
We love this place for casual dining. The ambiance is unique and the food and service were both great. We have been enjoying turning on our weekender friends and sharing with them the history of the Tavern.
Cozy place, great food, great drinks, great service, and accommodating to families. One of our favorites!
Looking for a nice out of the way place to eat in the Berkshire, this is it. Extensive drink with a somewhat limited food menu but everyone should be able to find something that would appeal to them. Cozy and historic tavern with very attentive staff. A definite must find!
Very small portions even for entree for prix fix menu
Live music was fantastic, food was delicious and atmosphere was warm and inviting
A hidden gem for sure. Terrific atmosphere, exceptional menu and service. Very accommodating to a large party with kids
We had a wonderful family holiday meal at the Stagecoach Tavern. The staff was warm and friendly, and the server immediately accommodated our request to turn the music down a bit (for the aging parents). The atmosphere is warm (literally with a roaring fire) and inviting in smaller cozy spaces. The food was delicious, including the burger, the mushroom risotto, and the scallops. One of the biggest hits was the bruschetta appetizer - the best take on bruschetta ever tasted by any of us. We sampled one of each of the three desserts on the menu -- all of which were very tasty -- following a visit to our table by Casey, the friendly proprietor. We look forward to our next visit, and probably won't wait for the next special occasion.
We had a wonderful prefix dinner there on Christmas Day. The Prosecco or eggnog to start was a lovely addition... the menu was well balanced and the desserts were great. I lovely evening was had by the five of us.
Always love having a meal at the Stagecoach on cold winter days. The place is really beautiful, and cozy, full of warm people, superb cocktails, and good cheer.
We're so thankful the Tavern is there.
This was our second time having dinner at the Stagecoach Tavern and we enjoyed it this time as much as the first. All aspects of our evening were wonderful! I had the butternut squash soup and my husband had the mac and cheese for appetizers. Seriously, the mac and cheese was enough for at least three people. Our main entrees were sea scallops and pasta bolognese; both of which were delicious. And we topped off dinner with a chocolate mousse (which we shared). Yum...
A delightful restaurant with great food and good people. Service needs work...not sure if they are understaffed or undertrained. Hoping they get it together....!
Dinner was great. Appetizers were tasty and substantial. Pasta and burger were both excellent. We loved the ambiance. The restaurant was busy but not loud. The waitstaff was attentive, and the food came out in reasonable time. But the first round of drinks took far too long, and the second round took forever. Our waitress was apologetic about it, but still we ended up nearly finishing our mains before our second round of drinks appeared. That won't keep us from returning, because we did enjoy our dinner very much, but it was annoying. Next time, we'll order a second round when the first round appears.
Our service was a little slow to get our orders in but very polite. It just wasn't that crowded so it wasn't clear why it took a while to have our order taken. Otherwise, a great experience. We love the live music.
This was our first time at the Stagecoach and we were Completely satisfied with the whole experience. The Stagecoach has a “homey” feeling with the dark wood and the burning fire. Our food was delicious; we were particularly impressed by the cocktails list. My husband loved the Daniel Shay! My favorite was the decadent dessert: Mille Feuille (puff pastry, cream and raspberries).
Definitely a winner!!
Fantastic staff, food, ambience!
Pricey and very limited menu. The service was mediocre. Variety very limited and not very interesting.
We had the most wonderful dinner in this charming historic Stagecoach Inn dating back to the 1800s! Service was outstanding! We were in a lovely quiet booth and started off by sampling some delicious mock and cocktails. Our appetizer of red and yellow beet salad with arugula and pumpkin seeds was divine as was the fresh mixed salad. The homemade chicken pot pie and meatloaf were delectable and just what we wanted after a day of brisk hiking in the Berkshires! We couldn’t leave without sampling the scrumptious homemade pineapple upside down cake! This is my favorite kind of restaurant; warm and inviting in a beautiful setting with wonderful service and delectable food. A perfect end to a perfect day!
A very cozy spot esp w a fire in the fireplace. Great ambiance.
Seemed understaffed and the hamburger was a bit dry but otherwise a very pleasant experience.
Miss the chef Jessie. He made the best salmon 2 weeks ago. I had salmon 2 nights ago with Brussel sprouts and pomegranate molasses. It was burnt . Please get a good chef
My husband and I came back to the Berkshires for our mini-moon, made a reservation here based off the photos on yelp (ambiance looked great).
We had the best time!! Beautiful space, so cozy with the fire and the cocktails were creative and amazing!
The fried chicken was delicious and my husband ordered the lamb. He’s very particular when it comes to lamb and says this may have been the best lamb he’s ever had!
We would definitely return!! Super fun that the menu changes occasionally too so you can keep coming back and trying new things!
My husband and I had dinner here last night and it took two hours for us to eat appetizers and entrees. The restaurant was busy but it was an extremely long time waiting for food. We probably would not go back.
Excellent food and lovely ambience. The service was slow. That was my only complaint.
The stagecoach has a small menu but big hospitality. It’s warm and inviting, plus it’s very good food at decent prices.
Had a great time. January was an excellent waitress.
We enjoyed dinner. Good food but not memorable. Service was fantastic, she even apologized for the slow kitchen. Our friends have been there before but believed it was better in the past visits. Great ambiance in a beautiful historic building.
Really good food. Am still thinking of the Beet and Blue cheese salad I had for appetizer.
Rafa, the bartender, went out of his way to prepare a martini that wasn't on the drink menu
Thanks a lot Liane! Hope to see you again very soon.
