Charming, old-fashioned Polish restaurant with delicious comfort food. Feels quite sophisticated with the attentive service and quirky Old World decor (including old farm tools and hunting trophies).
The food was delicious and the decor interesting! My friends and I remarked how it felt like we were eating in an old restaurant in Kraków.
My only complaint is the high noise level. There was was a party going on in their event space, which made the noise level very high when the door was left open.
Fantastic and authentic Polish cuisine. Would highly recommend.
Dinner at Staropolska was exceptional! I was born in Poland and grew up with fond memories of traditional Polish dishes. All of them are on the menu and prepared to perfection. The staff was super friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Even when the dining room got busy, the staff hustled and never let service lapse - super impressive.
Amazing food! Very welcoming! Atmosphere is amazing! Best Polish food in Chicago!
They were very accommodating with the larger group. Service was friendly, on time, and the food was so good! I will be coming back and telling friends about this place.
Food was amazing!!! Anna my server was absolutely fantastic.
Very good Polish food. Great service
The Polish Food was EXCELLENT!
We drove 200 miles to eat there....Not disappointed!
My experience at this restaurant was disappointing. I had read great reviews and as my family is Polish (and I crave good Polish food), I wanted to try this place during a quick weekend in Chicago. To my dismay, the food was not fresh. The pierogi seemed to have been previously frozen, and the potato pancakes were reheated. Not only that, but our waitress was rude and the ambiance was dead. I wish I had better things to say, but I wouldn’t recommend eating here. We were both sick the entire evening with stomach aches.
I went with a party of six on a Saturday night. We ordered the family style meal at 18.99 per person. It was a fantastic assortments or Polish foods, generous dishes, and served family style. We absolutely loved it. The rustic decor, the friendly and attentive staff, and the overall low key ambience was perfect.
We can't wait to go back!
Awesome flavor - perfect Polish meal / awesome service and value
Servers were attentive, and wonderful; food was delicious
We eat here every time we are in in Chicago, about twice a year. Good food and good value with beautiful decor. Service is outstanding.
Good food and nice service however relatively expensive. For this price, I would expect a little more. For example, hot, not lukewarm water for tea, not to mention tea not from the bottom shelf.
Easter buffet was not as good as the regular menu. We will be back for that.
Wonderful food with generous portions and very reasonably priced
Great food, large portions, quiet simple atmosphere. Perfect spot for a fixed of polish comfort food! Thank you!
True polish cuisine. The Pierogis were delicious- the pastry was light and filing (we had potato & cheese and sauerkraut & mushroom) creamy. The stuffed potato pancakes and stuffed cabbage rolls were best we’ve had - and one of our party is polish! The blintzes were light, creamy, melt in your mouth. We would go again when in Chicago.
Enjoyable meal with charming service!!
Everything was authentic and tasted fresh, my wife raves about the potato pancakes and said it reminded her of her childhood. I had the fish in lemon cream and it was very tasty. Overall great find a bit away from the City.
Every time we come here it is a 5 star experience. The food is delicious, authentic, and the value is excellent! Very cozy and comfortable ambiance. Service is great too. Highly recommend for an authentic Polish cuisine experience.
I was excited to go and have authentic Polish food while visiting Chicago, since my grandmother was 100% Polish. She and my great aunts cooked wonderful food. Staropolska did not disappoint. I had the basic, stuff cabbage with rice and meat, and mashed potatoes. It was delicious; very flavorful. The only comment I'd make is the cabbage was one very thin piece. I'd prefer more cabbage... at least rolled a few times. But the sauce and mashed potatoes, and filling in the cabbage roll were hearty and tasty. My boyfriend had the veal cutlet and ate the whole (big) thing. Said it was tender and tasty. Not so crazy about the beet salad. We shared the potato / cheese pierogies, which were outstanding. So much flavor. We were too full for dessert, even though we wanted to try. Our trudging through the snow was worth it!
A little gem on Milwaukee Avenue.
My friends and I went there for a birthday brunch and really enjoyed it. The food was excellent. Service was somewhat slow and lacking at times, but the server was pleasant enough.
Good quality, traditional Polish dishes. Very attentive service. Stylish interior.
What a lovely and warm way to spend a rainy afternoon. After spending a week in Poland this summer, I wanted to introduce friends to Polish cuisine! This is the real deal. Not haute cuisine just homey good food at great prices with warm service. Had the vegetarian plate. Standouts were zucchini pancake and dumplings. Herring in sour cream—a great appetizer and others loved their schnitzel and mushroom soup.
Met a few friends here on a Friday and it was busy but not crowded. Food was all delicious, service outstanding, and ambiance over all lovely!
I brought my family here for dinner last Sunday to celebrate my mom's birthday! It was our first time eating at this restaurant, and we couldn't have been more happy with the experience! The food was absolutely authentic! I also was impressed with the food not being too salty, which is often a mistake many restaurants make! The ambience, was beautiful as well! I felt like I was in Europe dining! The prices were fair, and the portions were more than generous! I look forward to visiting again soon! Almost forgot to mention the incredible staff! Everyone was kind and more than happy to please! Very efficient!
Five of us and all our meals were very good. Great old world decor and nice selection of Polish beers on tap.
My husband and I ate here for our anniversary and it was so good!! The food was delicious and the service was perfect.
We were looking for some authentic Eastern Europe food to remind us of our time spent abroad and Staropolska did not disappoint. This is definitely authentic Polish food and had me reminiscing of meals I had eaten In Krakow. The environment was unique and authentic European. Our server was the only one working and was very busy, she also mentioned that there was only one cook that night. However, our food still came in a timely manner and was hot and delicious!
For starters, We ordered the blueberry cheese, mushroom soup and beef tartare. For our entrees, we practically tried everything! The vegetarian dish is also amazing. The beer, the vodka, the service... It was all amazing! I will definitely be back when I visit Chicago again!
All good! We had a very friendly waitress who was quite patient & helpful with our lack of knowledge on some of the food. She had some good recommendations. Everything came out hot & just as we ordered. Prices were right on point & we had plenty of leftovers.
The food was WOW!!AMAZING!!! Definitely will dining here again.
An outstanding experience. Some of the most authentic, delicious Polish food I've ever had. A rare gem, not to be missed.
We had out of town guests who asked to eat at a Polish restaurant. We knew of none. So many friends I reached out to recommended this place, we had to try it. Sexypants GLAD we did!! What a great experience! We’re super stuffed, but happy! And the waitress was amazing!! We’ll definitely be back! Go!!
Very nice restaurant with great rustic polish ambience and traditional food. Excellent service.
My family is Polish, and I've also been to Poland a few times, and this is still the best Polish food I've had ANYWHERE and an incredible value. (Family dinner for 4 comes out to $18pp).
