Japanese eggplant and umami scallops aruba was mind blowing, decent restaurant!

Great vibe. Service was a little slow to take orders, but once it did food came out pretty fast.
Nigiri san set was very good, had a good hint of ginger and it was nicely moist.
The beef n bop sizzling rice was the star of the night. It was just a perfect josper oven short rib rice. Delicious.
Recommend for small groups.
Do reserve, people without reservation had to wait about 45 mins.

Will be back to try the 45 mins x 45usd

Wow!! Amazing spot! We got the $45 tasting menu. Chef Patrick was awesome. I’d totally recommend. The vibe, old school rap music and food was amazing. Top 5 restaurants in Chicago. I’d totally go back!

If you're looking for a place that has overpriced sushi, and the most uncomfortable atmosphere to eat it in– this is your place. Shame on the lettuce entertain you franchise for apparently having a contest to see how cheaply they could build out a restaurant. The tables are so closely stacked together that you are constantly being bumped into by the wait staff. The tables are made out of cheap what appears to be plywood or melamine benches flanked by the most rickety IKEA type chairs that feel like they will give out from under you at any minute. And I am a very small person. I can't imagine what a larger person feels like sitting in those chairs. The noise level is also off the charts. The food was decent and the wait staff was very nice. But honestly, there are much better sushi places in the city – I would pass on this one

It was a fun experience but food was just ok. Sushi pieces were great but sashimi and rolls lower quality. Tuna sashimi was gross super fishy and weird texture. Ruined the dinner.

My friend and I were visiting Chicago for the weekend, and after a long day we needed to find a spot for a late dinner. We were expecting dinner to be wrapping up by the time we were seated (10pm), but we were shocked to find such a lively ambiance! The food was AMAZING, beer was great, and our server was lovely. (shout-out to Sean!) We were sad to leave as the sushi doesn’t compare back home- we hope to come back soon!

The service was very slow for us for some reason. We came in about 10 min before the dinner rush and it seemed that our waiter went to all the other tables before us. Also, when I ordered the Japanese pancakes, the waitress that brought it over immediately began pouring the syrup all over it. Very odd that they wouldn’t 1) ask if I even wanted that and 2) let me pour it myself. It took another 10 min to wave down our waiter for the check. Didn’t feel very warm or welcoming which is a shame because the food was very good. I can’t recommend a friend when the service is like that.

Server was very knowledgeable and attentive. Loved the food. My third time there and wasn’t disappointed at all. Crazy for the tako taco, fried eggplant and beef skewers w egg (new to menu). DELICIOUS!

Good date. A little noisy because it was busy but hostess sat us away from the crowd. Good food... not incredible but good. Would go back again possibly.

As good as it gets. If you crave Tokyo authentic sushi, this is the spot. Super fresh, creative. Just awesome.

Came here after a matinee of the musical, Hamilton. Great, unique take on Japanese and other Asian specialties. Superb whiskey list which was a delight, neat, on a cold and rainy day.

Our server went above and beyond when they knew we were celebrating a special occasion! Super great experience.

Sushi San is our go to sushi bar in Chicago.
Solid, excellent nigiri, well made, creative maki and temaki., terrific cooked foods, great service, awesome waitstaff, nice vibe, open late...is there more to say?

The food was great, we ordered the tacos as an appetizer and I would go back to this restaurant just for that! We also had the 8 piece nigiri and it was good and fresh but nothing new. For drinks we had the “thank you enjoy” and it came served on a take out box, super creative and it was refreshing. It was loud at 9:30pm on a Friday which is to be expected but the early 20 somethings sitting next to us were LOUD. Our waitress was perfect and the food came out fast. The only negative was the hostess, major attitude and not who you want as the first person to meet you when you walk in. She was not nice.

Food and service once seated is excellent, though the check in process almost never aligns with the reservation time.

Incredible sushi - interesting rolls, but always clear and deliberate flavor - amazing souffle pancakes - save room! The Whiskey menu is extensive and bartenders are able to accomodate vague preference ideas... for a price.

The food was exceptional but the service was lacking. The appetizer came out last, and our main was served first. Since they served the main first, we waited quite a while before getting served any food.

Great food and service! Although they had no alcoholic free beverages to offer besides Water....(and only ICE coffe.)

The food is great here. The fish is fresh. The dishes are creative and seasonal. Get the pancakes!
