October 16, 1909-For the first time in their country’s history, American President William H. Taft and Mexican President Porfirio Díaz met for a summit in the El Paso-Juarez border; the land commonly known as El Chamizal. Flags were lowered and the borderland remained neutral territory.

A traditional, conservative luncheon was hosted by President Taft at the El Paso Chamber of Commerce followed by an opulent dinner served and presented by President Díaz in the Old Federal Customs building in Juarez. Private discussions were had and agreements were made.

TAFT DÍAZ serves as a testament that great things can flourish when you welcome others at your table.

They paid attention to all the details & use French cooking techniques making the dishes harmonious. The lobby & restaurant and modern, small but quaint. Great way to celebrate my husband’s birthday.

Food was very good. Restaurant is good looking. Waiter was a bit pushy on getting us to order when we were the only people in the restaurant and seemed disappointed that we did not order alcoholic beverages. I would return.

29rh wedding anniversary and it was excellent! New menu items of lobster spaghetti for me, and a duck breast dish for the Mrs. Both were excellent. Oscar the server was considerate and polished. We wanted for nothing. The horchata coffee cake with cinnamon ice cream was a delightful desert. Excellent meal, service, and atmosphere for our anniversary in El Paso.

Ambiance, great service and attention to detail all contributes to a great dinner experience. Our server Desiree was an absolute pleasure. We had outstanding cocktails and mains - the cod was the best I have ever had! We ordered 2 appetizers however (bone marrow & octopus) that were really underwhelming... flavors were great but the portions were surprisingly tiny... almost no marrow on the bones. We really enjoyed the modern art collection and the floating lights... Would come definitely return on next visit to ElPaso!

Every person who met us or helped us was extremely friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. You must try the Mexican Butter! It was out favorite food that night. I cannot say enough about the service. Thank you so much for the wonderful night!

One of our favorite restaurants in El Paso. As usual, wonderful setting with the ceiling art. Bartenders Suntori old fashioned was excellent, wife had the white witch which she loved. Gnocchi and black cod main dishes were superb and wait staff is top notch. Love this restaurant every time.

Great food and super nice waitress. Only thing I’d that I tried to make an earlier reservation and it looked like it had very slim availability. However, when we walked in there was only one other table in use. Besides that, great !

A hidden Gem in downtown El Paso. My wife and I shared the half chicken it was well brined with a hint of garlic, crispy skin, moist on the inside, and fall off the bone tender. The grilled peppers on the side done just right. Along with the great food was the overall experience, excellent service, our server Luis made an excellent wine recommendation. The ambiance and level of service, the attention to detail is what you come to expect at a high end resort in Napa or Camelback. The experience transported us to places we travel to for this kind of dinning experience. Thank you, we will return. FG

My girlfriend and I went for date night and it was absolutely amazing! From the music and ambiance to the food and service, everything was wonderful. Our server Paco was attentive and knowledgeable and help ensure the night went well.

Had a great time at Taft Diaz with friends. Had the appetizer with tomatoes and naan-delicious! Husband had a steak-very nicely cooked and yummy. We had Molly Docker Carnival wine -great bottle and well priced. Service was good not over the top tho.

Our server was exceptional. She was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, I’m horrible with names, and I can’t remember hers. She was perfectly bilingual; code switching from table to table as she went to help out all guests. What an absolutely delightful experience. From the house-made crackers, to the corn and truffle soup, to the flowered lights beginning their night bloom.

Breakfast was great! My husband and I fell in love with this restaurant and hotel. Our second time eating here since we spent the night at the Stanton House. We will definitely come back. Very pleasant atmosphere!

Had a great experience at Taft Diaz!! The food was superb as was the service. We started with the crudo verde and shima ají tostada both were delicious the crudo verde was especially enjoyable. We also split the Cesar salad, and it was deliciously prepared and served. We had the black cod and the catch of the day which was served on a hurache the entire dish was exceptional, would go back just to have this dish. We also had the young pea risotto can’t say enough about this delectable side. Our server was very attentive great service at a beautiful hotel!!

We have been here several times. We love the ambience. It's a small place, but with great food and great service. The prices have skyrocketed though.. Very very pricey. Of course, most restaurants have gone up in price.
