Tandoor - Pinole
We started with the vegetable pakora and then shared the lamb curry and the chicken biryani. There was enough food for four people, though we were only two. The pakora were crispy and well-seasoned; that was my favorite dish. The biryani and lamb were delicious, too. We were there at 5 pm, so there wasn't a crowd, and it was quiet and peaceful.
The chef comes from a great Indian food heritage in a downtown SF location at the Campton Place Hotel. It somehow does not translate in any meaningful way here in the East Bay. Food and drinks were just average. Not expensive but not a great experience.
