Food was very good. On the one hand I liked the limited menu as well as the way things came out quickly. I think over time it will take a menu broadened by just a few items to get us back there more than once a month, but we did enjoy the great service and fun environment. We had a great time.
Great service (busy at bar but we were sitting and eating) - able to get to theater easily and they accommodated an extra last minute guest. Food was good - fried chicken needed better/firmer crust, sausage unremarkable. Arancini, kale salad and broccoli rabe with romesco sauce were all yummy.
The food at Tank18 was delicious and we were able to get a table, no problem. Staff was exceptionally friendly
Scrumptious food in a fun setting. The service is fantastic, and wine/drink options are plenty. We've introduced Tank18 to close friends, and will continue to do so. We love this place!
It was HOT! Hot day outside and no air conditioning or fans. Our entire party sweat through the meal.

The brunch was a disappointment overall.
What was good:
-The apple fritter
-The elote (corn on the cob)
What wasn’t good:
-The grilled cheese (It tasted like Kraft singles on white bread with not very flavorful kimchi thrown in for color. I could barely eat it.)
-The eggs were not cooked as my friend ordered them
-The potatoes were undercooked and blah
And we practically got laughed at when we asked for ketchup for our fries. Aioli is apparently the new ketchup.
The space itself is cool, but my friends and I left feeling disappointed by our meal.
I booked a table for my family here recently through open table after a dance show. We all had never been here for dinner before and thought it looked nice and was able to accommodate all 7 of us.
We arrived and was escorted to our table.
We saw drink menus on the table but no food menus.
We ordered our drinks from a server (deep red hair, in a bob cut with glasses) who seemed very unhappy to see us firstly. She took our drink order then asked if we had any food allergies, without any further explanations so we thought we will be getting a food menu shortly after....... Thus began an incredibly unorganized, unwelcoming and confusing meal.
Our server had literally not explained anything to us in how service worked or what was happening or if we had been there before..... however we later found out from several other employees, when you book over 7 people, you have a set menu...not knowing this or the price of this... food just started to come out and we had no idea what was happening. Some of us dont eat red meat, and then the server proceeded to say the chefs menu does not work for our group anymore so we then were given sheets to fill out of what we are all having a la carte. She proceeded to tell my sister to not use all the pieces of paper because she needs them for other customers. The server was sloppy, dripping water on table after pouring, dropping plates on the table without any awareness, knocking the back of my chair numerous times and later in the evening proceeded to pour my old glass of wine into my new glass of wine. The whole front of house was coming up to us and trying to explain what was going on which made us feel better but overall felt disorganized. Later on, the server explained the dessert choice with reluctancy and as she was walking away, so it was very unappealing. Overall, it was a very bizarre dining experience, the food was nice, but I would not go back. We all felt like the server's energy and hospitality was not suited for the job.
Tank18 was the perfect place for my larger group of 16 to celebrate my birthday. Everyone had the Chef's menu and wine pairing which made the dinner completely convenient and stress-free. There were plenty of courses and more than enough food and wine for everyone. On top of that, everyone loved the food. I would definitely recommend the venue for anyone who has a larger party or event.
Great ambiance and service. The chop with beans was horrible and cold. Everything else was good but nothing to write about.
We had a 5:30 reservation, so there were very few people there initially. However, once there were many tables full the noise increased dramatically. Food, drinks and service were outstanding. Between the four of us, we ordered just about everything and loved it all. I would definitely recommend and will be back.
Wish it was good, but the burger was soggy and the sausage was cold... Really unfortunate, I wanted to like this place :(
This is a great find. The overall ambiance is pretty basic, which is part of what works.
The food was great. We had a asparagus, broccoli rabe and potatoes with chicken. The vegetables are creative and perfectly prepared. I’d return in a heartbeat.
Excellent food and service. The server asked if we were going to a show and needed to eat quickly. The chef even suggested swapping an entree due to tight timeline. They even comp'd us a half dozen oysters, which tasted amazing. We also went into it knowing the room is used for events, so the warehouse feel was expected. The food alone was excellent and we would definitely go back with friends.
This place is like going to a chic restaurant in Napa. The ambiance is relaxed, music level is appropriate and the food is delicious.
TANK18 NEVER DISAPPOINTS. Everything gets better and better. Foodies this place is ridiculous. Must try if you have not. Get the Chefs special. You will be so happy you did. Nice Job Guys!

Unbelievable food and beer. Definitely worth the reservation and trip!
First, the good stuff. Nice space (in a not so nice neighborhood) and walking distance to theaters and Civic Center. And, the service was pretty attentive. BUT, the food.... just weird. Stuff just didn't go together. There was a pasta that had eggplant, peas and mustard? It was really odd. And there was a sausage dish with a faro salad - I usually love both. But the faro was kind of sweet and didn't compliment the sausage at all. The biggest disappointment, by far, was the gin and tonic. I was really looking forward to that as a pre-theater treat. They make their own "tonic". It didn't taste anything like a G&T. Sweet and with a cucumber. And no carbonation. No lime in sight. Like I said, weird. The fries and asparagus were good, I guess. And - hey, you make your own beer? And you don't offer a tasting flight? Sorry, won't be back.
The room was stylish and the waitstaff was excellent. The cuisine was well thought out and very tasty. We rarely have any food issues (occasionally one of us will get ill from a food truck or something). Unfortunately, the expensive cuisine at Tank 18 made my wife and myself the sickest we have ever been in our entire lives (we're both 50). There were zero other possibilities that our cause of illness was anything other than the food we ate at our Sunday Brunch as we follow intermittent fasting and had not consumed anything anywhere else. It was a shocking juxtapose between the best tasting food with the worst possible experience. We literally wanted to die after eating here. Violently ill for well over 24 hours until every single bit of everything we had eaten had been violently ejected from one end or another. A $120 brunch for two with one drink each should not have that outcome. Shocking!
I had my birthday party at Tank18 for a group of 12. Easy to reserve and set up. We had the prix fixe menu with unlimited beer and wine. The portions were very generous, the plates were diverse, and the staff was accommodating for my annoying friends with food sensitivities. A great venue for a large group--those of us who wanted to get drunk definitely were, and those with self control had quite enough food to enjoy themselves. I'm sure it won't always be so easy to get a group table here: it was your California cuisine with a warmly-lit warehouse vibe.
We arrived on the earlier side (6:30 on a Saturday) and it was basically dead. Other tables didn't show up until 8:30-9.
Very fun place to dine, nice industrial interior. Very fun sharing dishes and our server, Hugh was good with his recommendations.
This is an interesting spot that is conveniently located for people who live/work in SOMA or the civic center area. It's a big beautiful space that would be amazing for an event or large group gathering, but for a 2-person dinner date it feels a little cavernous. My friend and I got the Tank flight, which was super delicious, with generous pours and really nice wine selection just for $16. The dinner options are a little limited, but decent. I had the red gem salad (good) and the fried chicken sandwich (just okay). I would recommend this place for a large-group event, or large group happy hour, but it's not ideal for a small dinner date. Apparently weekend brunch is really popular here, which is probably a more lively vibe.

I’m surprised by how tasty the food was. However, the restaurant was pretty unorganized. We got our food and drinks 40 minutes after we put in our order. Somehow, desserts came out first and the server informed us that one of the dishes we order sold out after an hour of being there...

I loved the menu and the table service! However, upon check-in we had extremely rude service from the Host. They were not busy, and the host was engaged in another conversation with a another team member, and would not greet us. I said hello, he dismissed me. It actually was so disturbing that it set off a not so great brunch for us. Fortunately our server was amazing! The two people talking instead of greeting at the front we're not even discussing work, and for all the options in San Francisco... I would not return because of this.
We were there for restaurant week and shared 5 dishes, each one more delicious than the next. I liked how the dishes were described, with every ingredient, and we had a delicious panda cotta for dessert -- best I've ever had -- with nuts, seeds and who knows what else to give it the perfect balance of smooth and creamy to crunch. Our service was perfect. With so many dishes it would have been easy to feel rushed or to feel like you were waiting. We never felt either. The only downside is the huge space can get noisy, but we asked for the most quiet table and got it! A great meal, all-in-all.
The whole experience was great. The music was upbeat, the restaurant was full, the food was SO good and the drinks were amazing. I would come here for brunch every Sunday if I could.

We had several folks with allergies and dietary restrictions at our table which I made sure to inform the restaurant ahead of time. When we were seated, or group of 6 was served family style chefs menu, and with each course they sent out options that were safe for our friends with allergies. Each dish was delicious, and we really appreciate the restaurant bring so diligent about accommodating our needs. We have always loved Tank18 as a bar/winery and will definitely be returning for the food!
Not particularly impressed. Pub food. Everything seemed slightly off and visually unremarkable. Fried Chicken was underdone. Steak was game-y as if it was on its last salable day. I couldn't tell if the meat had turned or the marinade was off. The Broccoli Rabe/Beet Salad seemed hastily conceived, the flavors were fine but odd set against each other. The grilled okra was similarly ill-conceived. A muted beige pickled relish of carrot and baby okra over the grilled ones just really lacked any cohesive element or creativity. The olives were actually quiet nice but the large dyed red ones were personally a little scary.
This place has great potential but they really need to focus some creative effort and skilled labor on their food program or they will...um...Tank.
Dear Summer, We noticed that your rating of your experience here wasn't what we strive for. We typically get 5 stars from our guests and clearly missed the mark with you and your guests. We did want to comment on our food prep. Our fried chicken is sous vide prior to being fried to ensure a safe and juice product. Skirt steak can be very flavorful because of its fat content, but we receive proteins 4x a week always fresh. The red olives are Cerignolia olives, they are naturally that red. Tank18

Tank18 was a great place for a large group dinner. The food was excellent and the value offered from the price fixe menu was great too. The restaurant easily accommodated our group of 16, the service was friendly and efficient, and the family style dishes were a big hit across the table. Thanks for a fun night!

Great place with a great wine and food ... for larger groups they have a food and drinks specials call and find out. Was there with friends and the place was festive and can easily accommodate couples singles and groups in a larger clean warehouse setting. Friendly service .... glad I found this place.
From the outside you may have doubts, but wait until you see the rustic-chic interior. They have a some dining tables, but the atmosphere seems most fun at the bar-communal tables they have near the bar. This seems like more of a post-work, happy hour spot than date night. Their business model seems to cater to big groups; I wouldn't be scared to come here with a large 12+ group.
The drink orders are done verbally here, and you mark down all the foods you want on a checklist. First of all, the list does not have many descriptors of what is in the food, and our server did not double check any allergies. I can see this biting them in the butt. We ordered warm olives, salt vinegar fries, warm goat cheese (with crostini), and elote. The runner not only brought me the wrong wine (TWICE), the server seemed unapologetic! It was not even busy, so I'm rather confused as to the mix up... But we ended the meal with one of two dessert options, the soft serve topped with Syrah simple. The elote (corn) was definitely our favorite part of the meal. It was served on the roasted cob, in a handheld size, smothered in seasoned mayo and a garnish of parsley.
Unfortunately, the service was so bad I will not be returning to this establishment. Perhaps if the management changes; I can see among the other reviews that I'm not the only one.
