Tartine Manufactory - San Francisco
Just the right amount of hip factor
Great food with fresh wholesome ingredients
Awesome cocktails too!
Always interesting takes in food preparation, good for sharing
drawback ususally noisy-go late in the evening and weekdays better
I was very disappointed in Tartine Manufactory. I had been a fan of the original bakery and restaurant in the Mission and came with high hopes. The space is 'industrial' and almost more coffee shop than restaurant. That's fine. Our server was very nice and helpful. But the food was no better than 'ok' and the prices were extraordinary, even for San Francisco. We shared a calamari appetizer which was ok until we realized it was $21 for a small-ish portion of tough rings. I had the chicken, which again was ok (a little dry - even though it was all dark meat) and was well over $30 - I think $34 or $36 for a small thigh and leg. And the wine list was really outrageous. We struggled to find a bottle of red wine for under $100 (we settled on a mediocre Chianti for $69!). I certainly wouldn't come back and wouldn't recommend Tartine Manufactory to anyone I like. Sorry.
Food was truly fabulous. Very thoughtful. Bread is amazing. But so is the butter with the finishing salt. Home made kimchi. Oh yeah! Smoked almond salad dressing. Deelish. Soft ice cream with chocolate crumbles. Perfect!!
Food was very nice. Service was not great, in between the wait staff telling us we had to order everything we wanted at once rather than going more leisurely like we requested, to a random service person telling my adult son to not sit sideways in the booth. It was a weird experience. I think they really hate out of towners at this restaurant. shrug. The wine sommelier, however, was absolutely fantastic. He really saved the evening. So thank you wine guy! Everyone else.... blergh.
Good food. Best bread in the world. Wish food portions were a little bigger.
Fabulous food and service
Having been to TM many times since it’s opening I’ve been falling out of love, whether it’s th food, noise or company I don’t recall. But tonight was back to square one. AMAZING. ONE OF THE BEST MEALS WE HAVE HAD IN SF. great work to make us fresh and in love again x
The beetroot hummus was amazing. Excellent food, great concept.
Food and ambiance were great. My date was unfortunately terrible.
We used to love this place. The food was delicious and it was good value. Now it doesn't stand out as much. The food is good but not exceptional. The prices have definitely climbed especially for wine.
felt very special as it was my friends birthday and the hostess pet us know she saved us a nice table and we got a cute candle on our dessert. food was insanely good.
Great food, small portions, attentive service, extremely slow meal after appetizers.
Best meal in SF
Great but somewhat limited menu, and not necessarily a value for the portion and quality. Service was okay- server seemed distracted but was helpful and sommelier was generous with us even when we weren't big spenders. Quite loud.
Great food but service was super slow
I expected more. A good experience, but, i wanted a meal that was going to be awesome.
Incredible experience! The fare was fantastic and the service superb. Highly recommend! This place does not disappoint.
Also, the hummus was beyond anything I’ve ever experienced... the steak tartar, to die for.
Food and drink are delicious. Service is attentive. The room is very noisy, though. There were only four of us, so we were pretty close to each other, but we had a terrible time hearing one another. If the food and drink are more important to you than the noise factor, then full steam ahead.
I love Tartine but the service was absolutely terrible last night. The server forgot to put our entree order, which resulted in us waiting another hour to get our food. The server then forgot our dessert order....just not good service last night.
Always so good and was amazed our server researched my Open Table profile to note some dietary limits. Very pro. Food is exceptional and a quintessential California foodie experience.
I just LOVE this place! It’s better to go with large group and order as many things as you can from the menu! It’s that good! Service is great as well.
The food was good, service was great- I think they did a great job overall!
I've eaten here regularly since it opened and have always liked it: the food, the service, the value and the ambiance. However, prices seemed quite high to me this time for dinner, especially given the portion size. Charging $6.50 for three slices of bread, and then charging for it again if you ask for more is a bit much when they make the bread right there and the portion given is about an 1/9 of a loaf. The beet hummus app was quite tasty and pretty too, but it came with nothing to eat it on; no pita or flatbread. So unless you order the bread too, there's nothing to spread it on, and by the time it came we had eaten most of the initial order of bread. Same issue with the pasta with summer squash dish; we ordered it because two in our party are vegan. Given the lack of meat or seafood in the dish, the amount of pasta seemed miserly for $24. I think I will hereafter tend toward the takeout counter or lunch.
Food was embarrassing. So bad. The bread and butter were delicious though. So overpriced. The tagliatelle was thick and hard and oversalted and inedible. The beans and duck were a soupy concoction that was strange and very unappetizing and just not tasty. I’ve never had mushy fishy grilled octopus but they managed to do that too, and it was too salty. The beef tartare was odd and ok, but unimaginative and again, oversalted. The presentation on every single dish looked amateur and ugly. The soufflé cake was called a ganache, soufflé, and mousse. It was none of these things. It was thick, heavy, and tasted like it was made with just butter and cocoa powder. No nuance, nothing soufflé like at all.
I have been wanting to come here FOREVER. I don’t go out to dinner as much anymore because I am trying to save. I was so disappointed. $90 poorer (just for my half). It was crazy loud and the bathroom was disgusting.
Ick ick ick. Kind of angry and wanted to speak to manager but didn’t want to ruin my night further.
The restaurant was absolutely amazing, the staff could do a little better by being just a touch friendlier and paying attention a little bit more to what is going on in regards to little things like waiting quite a long time for something as simple as water. But, I will say, the restaurant is amazing, The food is incredible, the ambience is perfect and I will be back many times at several of their locations.
Sure they have some interesting dishes on the menu and most of it is pretty good. But it’s the sourdough bread and butter that’s always draws me in. So simple. Yet so delicious.
Delish and great service!
awsome ambiance, creative menu, cool space
Nicole our server was great, and their wine som, made a great recommendation for our entire meal 🍻
Incredible - everything was perfect.
Charging $6.50 for a piece of bread and a little butter is totally outrageous, even if you consider yourselves the best bread makers in the city, that you are not.
My crudo salmon was so salty I couldn't finish it.
I don't know what is the big deal about your place, just fads and snobbism.
Sorry I wasted my time and my son's money.
I mostly come here to sit at the bar and take in the natural light and even some of the restaurant’s soft lighting with some wine and bread. I love the space the the service is great.
He food was outstanding ! The octopus was the best I have ever eaten so many flavours !!! Beautiful presentation and a great dining room, I will for sure go back when I’m in town next !
The restaurant has slipped since our last several visits. The service was off and we felt we needed to wave flags every fifteen minutes or so to get attention. Poor service always diminishes the overall experience of a great restaurant, and even though the food was still great, we didn't feel we got value from the visit. There's also an annoying lack of window coverings in the afternoon, so we sat with the sun glaring in our faces for twenty five minutes as the sun set. It's obviously been mentioned before, because the wait person rolled her eyes when we expressed our discomfort.
We had to wait at least 40 minutes for the appetizers and then another annoyingly long time, probably another 40 minutes for a main course. We spoke to the waitress and she was sympathetic but did not explain reason for delays. They did give us a discount for the inconvenience.
Every bite was amazing, our server was the best. We look forward to our next visit.
We LOVE Tartine so this is an unusual review for us.
The service was rough - we waited almost 20 minutes for the server then our appetizers came along with one guests drink, we were half - 3/4 finished before our other 3 guests cocktails arrived so the toast was delayed as was the start of our meal together?
The octopus in a can was extremely fishy.
The steak was over salted so much it was inedible and we LOVE salt so that says a lot.
The desert wine we ordered didn’t come.
Overall it was really mediocre, don’t mind spending $450 on a good dinner but this wasn’t that.
The host and bussers were fantastic. Our water glass was never half full.
This is a quintessencial SF, CA restaurant. The bakery was already renowned, but now you can get a full seasonal menu to pair with that rustic, crunchy, delightfully doughy bread. The high ceilings in a posh, yet casual industrial setting are the perfect back drop for your artistically crafted meal. Great for a date, family, friends and even kids.
