I was very disappointed in Teo. We ordered three dishes to share. The scallops with asparagus was the worst; the asparagus was woody and scallops few and far between. Beef with broccoli and tofu with vegetables were simply OK. They all had similar sauces. We probably should have had hot pots, which most people at the restaurant ordered.
Service in early evening was slow and it took forever for the waiters to clear our plates after we finished eating.
This was my second time at Teo; I won't return.

The restaurant is near the Orpheus Theatre so we picked it. It was a fun and delicious experience. We got there early so there were few people eating but it filled up as we were leaving. I’d go back.

My first time eating dinner at Teo Restarant and Bar with out of town guests and coworkers. Very good food and service. My favorite cocktail was not available which was the only disappointment. Otherwise, I would go back for sure. A little pricey but good for special occassions.

Don't eat here. The service was so terrible, they didn't want to honor our Restaurant Week reservation, they made ordering extra difficult, tried to over charge us (the deal was $65 per person, but the food was served family style and when we added up the cost of each chosen dish the bill was over $65 per person). And finally, the food wasn't even worth the hassle. It was sub-par, some dishes were served cold, one dish was sent back and then returned to our table having clearly been microwaved (it was a dessert soup and it had separated and was very oily - a result of having been microwaved).

Do not eat here.

We lucked into Teo because it was near our hotel. It was GREAT! Such a fun experience for us. They specialize in hot pots - cooking thinly sliced meat and veggies in boiling soup - we had no idea and had never done it before. Our waitress was very helpful. I would absolutely go back and have already recommended it to several friends.

What a disappointing meal. One of the worst ever. Service very uneven. Entrees brought out before appetizers and then again while eating appetizers. Cold when finally accepted. Chicken soup with mushrooms inedible. Contained bones ( almost chocked) and chicken skin. Food tasteless and poor quality. Left us with a bad taste in every sense.

Really enjoyed the food, but our waitress was very pushy about ordering their hot pot. Some of us had dietary needs and could not go with that option and it made us feel a bit bad. On the other hand once I explained my limits she did try to get me a soy-free item.

A very tasty transitional hot pot! This sort of hot pot is design to eat beef. The beef ball is great.

The TeoChew beef hot pot is terrific!

However, the partner parking, Soma Grand Garage, closes at 6 PM on Sundays, which is not quitw customer-friendly.

Food was bland. Meet was incredibly tough, with lots of gristle and fat. Main courses started coming out before the appetizers were served. Very disorganized.

This place is known for their hot pot. It is listed as Chinese, but it really is known for hot pot and it only has beef hot pot. The beef is very good. It is not fresh which makes it very tasty. My favorite was the short rib. I ordered the spicy broth which came with a lot of stuff in it. I ended up straining a lot of the seasoning out because it is not meant to be eaten as much as it is meant to flavor the broth. The selection on vegetables was not great. We asked for Bak choy and received napa cabbage. There are some kinks to be worked out at this restaurant, but the beef was very good.

I loved Teo's when it first opened but would not recommend it now. The food is still good but the service is horrendous. When I arrived, they couldn't find my reservation and when I told the hostess that it was through Open Table, she was lost and I had to tell her to look it up on the computer. We were left left standing at the front for a while until she decided to take us to our table, we had to wait for menus, we had to wait to order, we had to wait for our food to come to us and had to ask a couple of times for our check (the restaurant was moderately busy and there was plenty of wait staff). Teo's has changed to a hot pot restaurant although yo can still order off their now-filthy menus. But, don't count on those items to be available - they are really pushing hot pot now. There is a separate menu for hot pot showing the different cuts of beef you can order....with no prices on the menu!!!!

DON'T GO. Dim-sum style hot pot offering where they kept recommending dishes that you already told them you don't want to order. Not to mention we were there to order regular stir-fry dishes and were forced to order hot pot as a pre-requisite. Spring rolls tasted like frozen for over a year and the meat and vegetable inside expired for half a year that they blend together like smashed beans with blue cheese.

Went for lunch before seeing "Hamilton" matinee. Food was excellent with big portions and creative dishes. Ambiance is bare-bones chic but staff was warm and friendly. Neighborhood is a bit of a shock, but theater is not too far.

Expensive for what you get. And what you get is not authentic at all. Ordered the jellyfish salad and didn't recognize it when it came bc it was mostly zucchini (or was it cucumber?) with bits of jellyfish. The enoki mushroom lettuce wraps came and I didn't realize what that was either. It was a plateful of deep fried something and deep fried enoki mushrooms. Very strange. The tofu clay pot wasn't bad but not super flavorful either. Huge restaurant and only about 5 tables taken. Ate here before a show at Orpheum Theatre. Won't be going back.

Honestly, it was a terrible experience. We made a reservation at 5:30 pm, but was told the restaurant didn't open until 6:00 pm. Our food too a very long time to come put, and then only two dishes were brought, and while the other 3 came out more than 15 minutes after the first two did. After all that, we thought we were in for a fine dining experience, but the food was nothing to write home about. I've had better Chinese food at a hole in the wall take out place. not worth the price!

Pretty lacking in flavor. 2nd and last time here. The first time I had Scallops and threw them up in the bathroom before finishing my lunch. Really wanted to give it another chance and this is totally lackluster. You can't do flavorless in San Francisco

The man who escorted us to our table said we could sit anywhere and when we went to sit down, he immediately said "not there." He tried to take our order but a waitress came over and berated him and it was her table to tend to (btw, she is a very good server so just hope you get her!), so there were some interesting things going on with the waitstaff. Teo's is a bit trendy with the millennials so you can expect it to be crowded. Very interesting menu as the food is from south of Guandong. Two appetizers I highly recommend are the deep fried enoki mushrooms wrapped in lettuce leaves and the jellyfish salad (pretty spicy!). Desserts feature fried mochi and a 1000-layer cake they have brought up from LA.

Food was basic, flavourless and un enjoyable. I had the mushrooms wrapped n lettuce leaves to start: felt like I was eating deep fried batter strings with no sauce. Went on the the Jade tofu dish which tasted like Campbell's chicken soup on top of tofu. Bland and boring. Service was rushed and close to rude. I won't be back. Go to Chinatown instead.

I'm Chinese. Even for average Chinese restaurant standard, this is the by far the worst service EVER. The food was not nearly good enough for the abusive service. We had reservation at 6:15pm, asked for our last missing dish 4 times. By 9:00pm, we gave up. Had to go up to the waitstaff station to get our check.

Will definitely NOT return.

I had my worst dining experience in San Francisco at Teo, bar none.

The two of us ordered soups, entrees and drinks. The waters we requested never arrived after multiple requests. My friend's soup and entree arrived long before either of mine did. He finished his soup and let his entree get cold waiting for me before my soup arrived. He finished his then cold entree while I waited for mine. It came 45 minutes later.

Our waiter eventually apologized for the terrible service but did not offer to make it right by taking something off the bill. When the bill finally came, we incorrectly assumed they would have removed at least the late entree as a courtesy, but we were mistaken. We complained and were offered a 'discount' (which amounted to a $5 reduction).

The hot and sour soup was decent. The 911 Spicy Chicken was inedible. I left hungry and upset.

Horrible service. Messed up the drinks, brought out our entrees before the soup (turns out they didn't make any of the soup we ordered). Got our food before our water. The kitchen and front of the house weren't communicating. It's really too bad. This might be a better place for takeout but I would not dine in here ever again. The service was that bad. :(

Space is very attractive; ordered chicken with cashews and fried rfice with vegetables. Both very oily; chicken with cashews looked and tasted more like celery with chicken and cashews, fried rice lacked vegetables.
Service was slow and mixed; many personnel moving quickly and trying to be somewhere but looked disorganized; no offer for water; no attention to diner once food was delivered.

I went here on a Friday night with a group of 7 . Street parking was easy. The restaurant was huge and comfy with modern decor. I'm glad i found this place. Delicious Asian food, specifically they serve Teo Chew food which is a certain area in China. I had the oyster pancake, crab, sea cucumber, a beef dish, and a chow fun dish, and beef with tendon soup. Everything was very good. Give this place a try if you haven't tried teo chew food. The servers were friendly and attentive too.
