Service was excellent but food is just not good. Meat was over cooked, cold and super salty.
Service was poor. The bread was served only one person and she mentioned she would bring one more soon. then waited for a while. My friend asked her again, then she changed the bread is only served per table. I asked it what if 4 people sit at the table, only one bread to be served? She said yes. I asked anyway we need to have one more bread. She was serving without smile and so uncomfortable there with her... unfortunately..
Thought it was weird to have a grilled cheese special without tomato soup on the menu. That would have made my lunch! Just a thought. The grilled cheese....delicious!
Delicious and unique!
Great ambience great food great location
Kale salad a disaster. No croutons were served with it and just a big blob of kale w dressing. Not very good.
I had eaten there for lunch and that was good so I came back for dinner.
We really enjoy this place every time we go. The food is very tasty and a nice ambiance.
This was our 3rd visit. Food and ambiance are good but pricey. Despite minor past seating issues, we gave them the benefit of the doubt. This will be our last visit. We arrived early and the restaurant was 50% full. They wouldn’t seat us, but they seated the party after us who had no reservation. We were seated later and I inquired of the manager. In short, after researching what happened she said the process worked as they were saving the tables for larger groups. Those same tables when we arrived sat empty until we finished our meal. If you want to eat here, don’t bother with a reservation.
I went to Terrain about 6 weeks ago and had a fantastic meal, I went there yesterday and ordered the same item...Grilled Chicken Bowl. It was bland and the chicken was tough. I was so disappointed.
This was my second time at Terrain Cafe. Unfortunately, I made the wrong choice under "plates". I chose the Panko encrusted avocado with mushrooms and cucumber in a Mizo aioli. It was not good at all. The cucumbers were actually pickles. I should have sent the dish back, but was with a friend and did not want to make a big deal. I should have had the skirt steak, salmon or chicken. I recommend that Terrain remove this dish off the menu.
Was very disappointed with our visit. Had high expectations for an Anthropologie-like (ie very curated) gastronomic experience, but the space was only mildly inspired and the food was just sad (poorly or barely seasoned). Will not be returning.
Delicious food, great service and beautiful atmosphere.
Breakfast board and french toast hit the spot. Lovely interior and staff were super attentive. Overall it was a great meal to spend our Anniversary before we got our massages. Would go back again...
We sat outside which didn't have the same ambiance as inside. And it was cold. But food was amazing. Not cheap but worth it.
Really cute cafe, really not great food. The menu is actually quite interesting, but the food not so much. We ordered the corn fritters and they barely had any corn in them. Pretty sure the complimentary bread and falafels in our order were under-cooked as well. It’s probably better for just drinks/coffee!
This is a great place for a midweek brunch! My wife had the breakfast board: large arugula salad, scrambled eggs, sausage, applewood smoked bacon, hash and artisan bread toast. She couldn’t finish it, so I ate it all (I’m ashamed). That was above and beyond my smoked salmon toast! Terrific food, nice citrus spritzers and excellent staff. ps: abundant parking.
The service was sub par. It was not crowded and took about 30 to get our waiters attention to order drinks. I think for that size restaurant, there would be great service.
Good food, casual and cozy atmosphere, plenty of drink options, and dessert sampler—great time.
After reading the rave reviews I was disappointed. The best part of the meal was the fresh baked bread served with whipped garlic butter.
I had the hamburger cooked medium and the meat was served well done and tough. It also had a strange spice that tasted like clove mixed in with the caramelized onion. It just tasted funny to me. I didn’t like that combination. The Caesar salad was good.
Our waitress couldn’t answer any of our questions about the menu. She was completely unaware regarding ingredients and preparation of the menu items.
Best Avacado Toast. They use actual slices of avacado.
Great healthy food.
Drinks were great! Server was great! Food was awesome! Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal. We were offered coffee and dessert but had to pass, we were all too full! Going back in two weeks! It’s our favorite brunch spot💜
Good but not great
A really fine little place on the edge of Stanford Shopping Center. Especially good for breakfast and lunch. You see all kinds here--- parents with strollers, business lunches, Anthropologie shoppers and more. Nice vibe. There's plenty of room at the counter if the place is busy, and they have a couple of long tables for team meals. Outdoor seating, too, but it's on the hot side of the building with lots of direct sun so be careful.
Menu includes breakfast all day, and the omelettes are wonderful. Nice selection of fresh salads. Great salmon. Amazing hummus board starter. Very respectable burger and fries. Hot homemade bread served in little tin pots. Affordable wine list and some original non alcoholic drinks like fresh juice spritzers. Lunch for three today without drinks was $90, which included one starter and three mains.
Love the flowerpot bread and tasty butter. Loved the harvest bowl, but the shakshuka just tasted like marinara sauce with eggs in it (not what shakshuka should be). Our waitress was awesome.
Wonderful place to take kids. Maryland (on staff there) is amazing at making everyone comfortable and feel welcome.
My husband and I have been to Terrain several times. I made a reservation for his birthday celebration. The hostess remembered us. Quite extraordinary because we have not been there for several months. We like the outdoor tables. Food is always challenging for us as a foursome because we have a vegetarian and somebody who does not like fish. Everyone found something they loved. Great brunch because the food was great and the servers were spot on without being intrusive.
Yummy food, and cute decor!
Delicious food. Less than great service.
The staff was amazing! The food was not only delicious but was beautiful! Our waiter was very attentive and quick to refill drinks. I had never dined here before but would definitely do so again. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
The cafe is very nice, but I didn’t love sitting outside (essentially in the parking lot) considering the price. I will sit inside next time.
All of is enjoyed our dishes. Food was great and service even better.
Yes, I would recommend Terrain, even though their avocado toast, which I love, was not toasted this time. I was all set to enjoy it, and the bread was cold and untoasted......bummer! I hope they aren't going down hill.
Food wasnt great but expensive
Our servers were outstanding. The menu choices were different yet the combinations seems a bit off. I went safe with a very delicious hamburger but my companion had a salad with a chicken leg added. A bit awkward to eat. Don’t think I will take a business lunch there.
Great lunch bowls. Light and pleasant ambiance
first, the girl at the front desk was snotty. I think she was trying to be efficient but it came across as rude. then there was no coffee? how does a cafe runout of coffee? then our meal took 20 minutes to arrive. a burger was ordered at be medium rare (on the rare side) and the meat was grey. The server was outstanding and took responsibility for whatever he could even though it was clear it was not him.
Badly done. We will not return
Unfortunately the dessert, cheese cake was not so good :( I wish the bread was served without our request, but it was none the less very good.
I had dined here once before with a girlfriend and thought my husband might like it for Father's Day. We arrived about 40 mins early. Luckily, tables inside and outside were available and we were seated. Soon thereafter the restaurant started to fill up and conversations filled the room. We loved the ambiance and the decor. Very garden like and cozy. Our food and drink order arrived quickly, maybe a bit too fast, we really didn't have time to really enjoy and converse over our complimentary bread (which my husband and daughter devoured). Our meals were delicious. Our favorite was the avocado with pesto, arugula and the pickled kumquats. The most simple dish, and it was superb. Unfortunately, our charcuterie board (an appetizer) arrived when we were almost done with our main dishes. In the end, we enjoyed the ambiance, service, and the food. The only item we would say could have used improvement was the timing of the meals. Overall we enjoyed our Father's Day Brunch and we look forward to another visit. Thank you!!!
It cost $60 plus tip for two people to have lunch. We did not eat the bread, we sent it back bc of the carbs, and we both had salad bowls. Price seems a little ridiculous but it was good. I just don’t think worth that price.
