I purchased a Pulsd deal that seemed too good to be true.. it’s true! There are a bunch of negative reviews on this spot but I had a much different experience. Service was top-notch, food was good, and although it was a little loud (Friday Happy Hour) it was a great atmosphere. The Pulsd deal made this unbeatable in terms of value.
Food was absolutely worried. In fact, worst i’ve had in NYC. Waitress was extremely rude once she found out I was using a Pusl’d deal. I am NEVER going back.
Great food, great cocktails and fun bar/restaurant vibe
The marinated chicken tacos were delicious. Burger was good too. Lighting was almost too dark and the unisex bathroom was a little awkward. The group next to us was obnoxiously loud- literally screaming at each other. We just wanted somewhere to eat quick and have a few drinks before heading to a concert down the block at Webster Hall. This was good for that. Would come back again.
Very disappointing. Menu posted online is not actually available at the restaurant (no branzino, brick chicken, etc.). Only pretty basic pub-food fare like burgers and sad tacos. When we made the reservation we thought we were going to a restaurant, but it was actually a nondescript sports bar that serves some food. Service was pretty disappointing too - they got my order wrong and our waiter never showed up check on us.
This place would likely be totally fine to visit for a football game or trivia night or similar, less good if you're hoping for a good meal out. Apparently the Chelsea location is nicer.
Great cocktails and wings, cute environment for a date or a chill time with friends
We got bottomless brunch but the mimosas were mostly OJ and super weak. Food itself was good. The place was freezing and some of us wore parkas while eating, and the waitress was not helpful when we asked if the room could be warmer at all.
Overpriced sports bar. Loud music and TVs everywhere so rather distracting. They do have a nicer lounge area in the back. Service was so-so.
I went here with a friend since there was a Pulsd voucher which seemed like a good deal. Reservation was for 5pm. We were seated at a high top in the the bar area since they said that the back was not open yet even though there were customers sitting there. The server never came to take our order, we were given one menu for the two of us and we were told that the menu that is on line is no longer their menu. The reason I bought the voucher was because I saw brick chicken and branzino on the menu. I was left to choose from burgers and sandwiches and tacos. We decided on the chicken and the shrimp tacos to split. We had to get up from our table and order from the bartender who was the only capable person working there. We had to continue ordering this way, getting up each time we needed something. The tacos were super bland and kind of gross. The drinks were good. The noise was borderline unbearable. Not going back ever.
Restaurant was disappointing. There was no heat as the heater was broken and it was freezing cold inside and outside. The food and service were average. The biggest disappointment was the addition of a 20% gratuity due to using a Pulsd voucher on the retail value of the meal. We were not informed of this policy and the tip and tax exceeded the cost of the voucher. Will never return here again
Great spot for a casual dinner and catching the game. Mac and cheese fries are fantastic. Chicken tacos were delicious - creatively flavorful.
Food was pretty tasty, however slightly overpriced. Drinks were horrible- $14 for a cocktail which based on the description of the drink (quoted ingredients sounded like it was a craft cocktail bar) , i expected ALOT more. i ordered an old fashioned and i'm sure they used some premixed red mixer...that's only ok if you charge me like $6 in that neighbordhood...what a rip off. Service was good, waiter was very friendly but the ambience sucked too...not a place i would go to without a Pulsed deal for reduced prices.
Hi - unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, largely because we didn't even get to dine.
I had a reservation for 4 - we walked into the restaurant and it took almost 10 minutes for the hostess to come speak with and seat us. The music was absolutely blaring, making it hard to hear, and both out hightop tables were extremely wobbly; however, these were the least of our issues.
About 15 minutes went by without a server approaching out table to even bring us water, let alone take our drink or food orders. And, it was not very busy at all in the restaurant,
At this point, I respectfully flagged the hostess down on three separate occasions to ask if she could assign a server us. Each time, she turned and look directly at me, making unmistakable eye contact, and calmly turned away and kept walking and/or doing what she was doing (which didn't seem to be much).
She was also right next to our table after this when we decided to leave said absolutely nothing as she watched us pack up our belongings and put on our coats before heading to the door. She made no attempt to apologize or get us to stay, thus costing the restaurant a good amount of money that day (and in the future).
Unless there is some sort of credit involved for providing this useful feedback, as a longtime OpenTable user, I would never again consider going to this or any other Ainsworth locations, and I would encourage friends not to as well (we've frequented other locations in the past).
Drinks are A-plus. Try the Mac n Cheese burger, not the fish
Loud, fun, great service, but not a place for a casual dinner. This is a place to get lit, early.
Food was really good. Drinks were very watered down though. We even got a shot and it was definitely watered down.
There was one fish dish on the menu which I planned to have, but they didn't have any, at 6pm. I didn't want any of the other 4 entrees, so we ordered 2 hangar burgers, med rare. 1 with the salad, 1 with fries, they both came with salad, and well done. Good thing tho, cuz the meat was not fresh. First, I told the server they were way overcooked. She said "oh sorry" & walked away. Then the fries came, tasting like stale corn chips so we didn't eat them. But then, the taste of rancid meat, spit out so as not to get sick, and that's when I called the manager. Horrible dining experience, definitely pass.
It was early Friday night and they were sold out of half the menu. Billing was convoluted and they pre-billed an incredibly large gratuity for our table of two that was far from deserved.
Hate to write bad reviews... but here it is. Food was fine, at least the one's we were able to get.
Came with a party of 4, 2 people ordered items that they came back and said were unavailable. We all got burgers instead. Mine was overloaded with onions, and 2 of them came without items described.
The other 2 got mac and cheese burgers that are described on the menu as "panko crusted" - there wasn't an ounce of panko.
We were served 3 of the 4 drinks. 15 minutes later the waitress asked how we were doing and I had to remind her that I was still sitting there waiting for my drink.
Probably one of the worst dining experiences I've had recently. Won't be returning.
It was a 90 degree day and there was no AC.
The night was good except the air was broken. That was truly the worst part.
I was very pleased with The Ainsworth, which is great because I brought my friends through the pouring rain on a Sunday to get there for brunch. It was a really solid outing overall.
The portions were a little on the small side (but I'm a bigger guy, so I understand that not everyone eats as much as I do), but the food was great. The french toast in particular was pretty amazing! I would definitely come back.
Awesome food and the service was good and it ended up being a quiet brunch date it wasn’t too crowded.
Went to the Ainsworth EV location with a group of friends for the bottomless brunch. We had a reservation, but we were not seated until 30 minutes after our reservation time which was frustrating. It wasn't crowded... but every table was taken (not many tables to begin with). They have tables in the back that we could have sat down at, but apparently they only open that section up for dinner. The hostess felt bad, and suggested we could sit at the bar and get started if we'd like. However, the point of making a reservation is to guarantee a table, so that wasn't a solution for us.
We were finally seated, and it took what felt like a year for our waitress to come over and greet us. We actually had to wave her down (again, the place is not crowded). It took her a little bit to warm up to us since she was probably annoyed that we had to flag her down twice in the beginning... but after you wait 30 minutes to sit down, you're not looking to wait almost 10 minutes just for water.
My two stars go to the bottomless portion. It was $20 pp for two hours with the purchase of an entree, which is a great deal. We did mimosas -we asked our waitress if she could go light on the orange juice since we aren't big fans of heavy OJ. She was able to accommodate our request which was a nice surprise since a lot of restaurants don't take special requests and will instead mix it how they please.
As for the food, my scrambled eggs were basic eggs, nothing special but fine. The breakfast potatoes were good I thought, but the bacon was very very salty. We also ordered the garlic parmesan fries for the table but they forgot to bring those out - we had to remind them and wait longer for them. They were below average. I could taste a little garlic, but there was no parmesan cheese on them? More like garlic fries.
If I were to come back, I would 1) go to a different Ainsworth location and 2) it would be to try the burger. I don't see myself going back anytime soon!
It took 20 minutes till our server finally came over to help us. I got steak and eggs and asked for the steak medium rare. It came back well done and tasted like leather. This experience would definitely have me think twice about returning
Good for a quick bite and drinks. Music is very loud
Gorgeous food and great service! Great atmosphere!
Enjoyed brunch here after church earlier this Year! The music was definitely the highlight of the meal. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was so cozy & the service was great! Will definitely eat here again!
The food was not the same as the location on 26th street overall it was great
This was the worst service I've ever received. Clearly the restaurant has some growing pains as it took three requests to get utensils after our meals were served.
Reserved a table at 8pm on Friday. Ordered chicken wings - they were not fresh and did not taste good. The place was too noisy and not a pleasant place for a meal. We had to ask for utensils and water 2-3 times, eventually had to go get it myself from the bar. Overall a pretty bad experience, would not recommend.
Ainsworth did not honor my reservation. I got the the restaurant five minutes early. The hostess said that all of the tables were filled and no one was going to leave until the World Series game was over. So, we left and had to go next door to the Brazen Fox (which was great). I will never go to the Ainsworth again now that I know the Brazen Fox is the better choice.
Golden wings were far too hot!! It didnt say that these would be so hot. Less pleasure eating them 🌶🌶🌶🌶
Ordered the golden wings which were not seasoned, just had gold flakes on them. Also ordered a veggie burger and it just didn't taste fresh. I have been to another Ainsworth location in lower Manhattan and ordered the veggie burger and it tasted very good. Kinda wish they also had the gold wings, too - I bet they would have had some seasoning on them.
This East Village location was much smaller, too and seems better for the bar scene than anything else.
The golden wings are too cool. My girls really enjoyed them. The atmosphere was nice and drinks were great as well.
the host was gorgeous and amazing but honestly the 24k wings where disgusting and the skirt steak could have been better. The waitier was super rude. Every time I disliked something instead of her asking how may i like to change it she gave me attitude and told me that is how it is served. she was disgustingly rude. I would not take family or my husband back again.
They took the reservation but they were closed for the holiday. We arrived and the restaurant was dark.
