Its always a treat to eat at The Barn...the food is delicious and the service is just great...
It's rare to find a good restaurant where you can enjoy the food and the people you are with. The Barn was a rare find: great food, great service and a relaxing evening with my husband. We'll be back!
We loved The Barn - We stayed at The Williams Inn and this was a perfect restaurant. The convenience was so nice but we would have been just as happy if it hadn't been at the hotel. The food was excellent, staff were attentive and overall great experience!
When we arrived the restaurant was closed.
We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the barn. The steak was delicious and the pasta primavera was very tasty. The entire staff was very attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
Elegant rustic of sorts. The food was good. The musak was low but still obnoxious.
Food was fantastic
Craig our server was more fantastic
The mushrooms were terrible.tasted like dirt.
The rib steak was boring flavorless @ 48 dollars I expected steak house quality!
I make better at home.
Truffle fries were odd.
Big and chunky fries were wrong for the dish.
We came early and the restaurant only had two small parties. They made us wait and spend money at the bar.
Just very disappointed for a special evening.
The atmosphere was great and food was delicious!
Wonderful Christmas Eve meal. We have just moved to Williamstown and will certainly come back.
Christmas Eve dinner with out of town relatives. Beautiful new building and restaurant. (We visited the old Williams Inn frequently) Food was excellent and service was even better. Looking forward to returning soon.
I made a reservation and hoped to have a quiet dinner at the barn. That was not my experience as there was a wedding in the back room and one gentleman who was obviously intoxicated absolutely ruined our evening out! He was very loud and Obnoxious and actually fell at one point on the floor! I had to speak to the bartender and the manager to tell them that this gentleman was ruining my dinner and please do something about it! I feel spending an average of over $100 on an evening out should’ve been much quieter and less obnoxious. I am very disappointed and I think whatever bartender serve this gentleman needs to take another Tips training class as I was a bartender for 25 years and this gentleman was obviously over served
The evening was overshadowed by poor service when we arrived to be seated. No one was on duty at the entrance to the restaurant. The serving staff ignored us. I guess "it is not their job" to seat guests. Finally, when I went to the Front Desk of the Hotel itself the person on duty helped to find someone to seat us in the dining room. The wait staff seemed shocked that there were actually people there for dinner...very odd behavior.
Our dinners were quite good> Service improved a lot after our initial encounter.
This was my first time using Open Table. We were greeted promptly and served in just a few minutes. Drink quality was outstanding. Our entrees were roasted chicken and rack of lamb. The Barn uses outstanding local foods, and everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. A birthday sundae came out after we finished our entrees, which I was not expecting, a lovely touch. I included that this was a birthday dinner, when I used Open Table to reserve, and I assume that’s why the sundae was served. It was a shareable dessert, fabulous quality, too, making my husband’s 72 birthday even more special. For a special dinner, The Barn is a great choice.
We celebrated our son's 21st birthday and the staff was wonderfully accommodating. The food, ambiance and service were all excellent and made for a perfect celebration.
We enjoyed the meal with friends and the service was very good
We loved having our meals at The Barn. Server’s we’re all exceptionally gracious.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The portions were most generous and well prepared and the service very warm and friendly.
The Williams Inn is a spectacularly gorgeous place and the dining room is no exception. My wife and I decided to venture there as we are making decisions about where to eat inside now that the weather has turned cold. We were not disappointed. The ambience of the DR was great, very rural NE with an upscale flair. We each had the onion soup which delivered in a very traditional way (though a touch of sherry would have been nice), an excellent Caesar, and then we split the pulled pork sliders and crab cake appetizers. The food was very good with the crab cakes coming in a bit second behind the sliders which were excellent. Service was excellent though it would have been nice for our server to help my wife move her chair. At any rate, a very nice place and we will definitely be back.
We made a reservation a few weeks ago. We arrived to the bar area with a crowd larger than any I have seen during COVID times. We were then seated at a table immediately on the wall behind the bar, adjacent to the server station. the dining room was not full and I asked to be moved to a quieter location....we were told "this is your table". I asked again....same answer. Two other tables were available and further away from the noise. the bar crowd drifted right to the edge of the dining room, leaning against the beams and talking loudly.
even without the bar crowd you have a noise problem with all hard surfaces in the dining room....hard floor, hard tables without tablecloths, nothing soft on the walls.
it was not a exactly a "fine dining" experence. you have work to do to make it so.
Coming from NY for a mini vacation with my husband we were looking for something nice. This restaurant was excellent and held up to our standards! Our waiter was so kind and fun. We would absolutely come back and would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Very popular destination!
Food was good. Service was excellent. Beautiful setting.
Little too crowded near us.
Greggggggg is the bomb
Service and food were 5 stargood! We had the cauliflower, salmon and the lamb. All excellent and good amounts. Wines and beers were excellent. Only criticism would be to choose a nice dining music, instead of the loud fast assortment they had. Also a very cold dining room…needs some plants and something to soften all the cold glass, metal and wood. Nice place overall.
Best dinner - Tuna nachos to start - fantastic. My husband had the steak and I had the pasta meal - we both loved our meals. Finished with desserts. Our waitress was a joy - shared her suggestion of tuna nachos - so glad we tried them. It was our anniversary and her kindness made for an extra special celebration.
Everything wonderful. Service was excellent. Waiter was very nice and friendly. I will go again.
Visit student for families day !
Delicious food! The lamb was delicious but very rare. The salmon was also amazing. We also got the Berkshire board and Asian nachos. Delicious all around. Definitely too it all off with a maple creme brûlée
Excellent dinners and service- thanks!
Great steak and pasta. Enjoyed the truffle fries
Service was slow because the restaurant was understaffed. Food was great. The table in the bar was noisy because, well, it was in the bar. Good food, not great ambience, and like many spots, in need of more help.
Excellent food and great service in a relaxing atmosphere.
The host was very difficult - I had made reservations weeks ago, and he directed us to a table right by the entrance and utility area. (I had made a special request to for a table by the window) There were only three other tables occupied and I asked if we could be seated elsewhere - by the window? He said they were all reserved - I said well, I had reserved also, there weren’t any other tables? He again said they were all reserved and tried to tell us each individual table was specially chosen by the person who reserved it, which was obviously ridiculous - what, did people have a diagram of the room and tables at home from which they picked their special table??? but he would not budge.
His believably fell apart further when I later heard him direct some people to a table and ask them if it was alright.
It was a very unpleasant beginning to our dining experience, plus all during dinner we were directly in the path of cold air which apparently was not able to be remediated. We ate with our coats on.
Fortunately our waitress was very accommodating and pleasant, and the food was alright, even if not described correctly in the menu. In my husband’s dish, pasta primavera, the pasta was not the kind described and the veggies consisted of peas and beans.
The salmon also was not served as it was described on the menu, and was fairly bland.
My tuna appetizer was delicious as was the cauliflower appetizer.
The dessert, apple crisp, was good as was the espresso.
Dining room stark- square sharp tables. Tuna appetizer good. Rib eye steak 3/4 fat!
Bar O.K. Outside pleasant
Fantastic service which added to the fantastic food
Our fourth visit, and each time the food, service, ambiance, and value were excellent. The only thing we wish for is a quieter experience. It is too noisy for a restaurant of that quality.
First time visitors to the great modern barn + kitchen venue, we had an excellent dinner w/ great glass of wine, apps's and dessert in this great room in the heart of Williamstown!
We had excellent food at the Barn -- which was a good thing considering that the HVAC system pumped out a torrent of cold air from the ceiling registers during most of our dinner visit. The staff tried valiantly to remedy the problem -- which affected everyone in the dining room and which we learned had happened before -- but to no avail. Finely, the food and beverage manager shut the system down, to the relief of all. We were extended the courtesy of sincere apologies from our server and the maître d', and a complementary dessert, appropriately, in recognition of the evening's discomfort. We would return again when next in Williamstown -- though not without checking first to find out if the HVAC system malfunction has been fixed.
We live just across the NY/MA border and dine frequently in Williamstown. Because I rarely experience restaurants in hotels or inns that are above average, I waited until having been to The Barn Kitchen & Bar three times before reviewing. All three times were exceptional -- the ambience, the cooking and the service.
I sensed in two out of three visits that the servers were quite new, however the restaurant hired well. The servers were polite, intelligent and did an admirable job.
My favorite entrée has been the Pan-Seared Cod (cauliflower “risotto,” bacon, lemon-white wine sauce, matchstick potato). One time, I feasted on a filet mignon special. The desserts are also excellent. My favorite desert has been the Taconic Mudslide.
We will be dining here often. Thank you The Williams Inn for this stunning inn and restaurant!
