Bartender was amazing. Food was very good but nothing to write home about. Love love love the vibe. Will definitely be back. Valet parking right out front on a snowy night is a bonus!
Food was amazing, pasta tasted excellent! We didn’t order a single thing we didn’t like! Service was lacking though, our waiter (Jorge) was rarely present and we were left without drinks for long periods of time. Getting our check was even difficult. Support staff was good at keeping our waters refilled though.
Would return for the food and hopefully better service, perhaps it was just a bad night.
Love the food and service at the Bristol. Unfortunately, it's just keeps getting louder and louder, to the point where you can't even hear people across the table from you. They should turn down the music and bring the whole noise level down to accommodate a better dining experience.
Visiting from San Francisco
The food was over-the-top and we have very sophisticated taste the snails on Texas toast the endive salad blood orange vinaigrette the salmon Rilette was so creamy and the Norred ships or nice and fun and not too salty the fennel garlic sausage stuffed porchetta was flavorful and beyond the Basque “Cake” was I think the best dessert I’ve ever had! And my husband and I are in the food business so we were thrilled with
Our meal! We will definitely return on our next visit to Chicago
The food was delicious - we had the scallops and wagyu beef, along with salmon rillette appetizer. The service was top notch. The only draw back is that the venue is small and the tables are very close together, so it was hard to have a conversation given the noise and our neighbors being a foot away.
We visited the Bristol to celebrate a friend’s recent promotion. We had a group of 8 and decided to do the family multi-course menu option. The food was amazing!!!
Food and service was amazing!! However, the portions were really small for what was supposed to be “family style”, especially for such a high price. I will definitely come back but will have to eat a little before so that I don’t leave starving.
One of the best fine dining values in a neighborhood spot. Or maybe it's a neighborhood joint with fantastic food, drink and service? Either way, you win. B-side monthly menu is a steal and Happy Hour even more so. You'll be looking for excuses to eat here often.
Cool atmosphere. Great food. Excellent service. Tables are very close together. I would go again.
New Years Eve was delightful here. Fantastic menu and great service.
Staff was underprepared for NYE rush
Great food, lively space, service is good but a bit harried
We had a great anniversary dinner at the Bristol. It has always been a favorite of ours and we have spent many special occasions here over the last five years, including our wedding rehearsal dinner. For our anniversary, they made us feel very special, seated us in our favorite spot, and gave us two glasses of champagne to celebrate. The manager and bar tender spent time talking with us and congratulating us on our anniversary. The attention to detail and personal touch they provide is wonderful and makes the experience meaningful. The food, as always, was incredible, making it a perfect night!
Best burger I’ve ever eaten! The duck fat fries are also amazing.
We had the Winter salad, beef tartare, kentucky ham, Amish chicken, burger w/ duck fat fries and cacio de pepe. All dishes were exceptional! Definitely will go back. It was pretty loud so a little difficult to have a conversation. But overall a good experience.
The basque cake is glorious!! Great service.
Celebrating my oldest 17th birthday, we had an amazing time. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious. Would highly recommend to friends.
Amazing. Wonderful. Delicious. Everyone was so sweet and friendly. Great experience.
Our experience here was phenomenal! Can’t wait to go back. The food was amazing and the wine pairings were even better. Loved the ambiance there as well. Servers and staff were great as well.
Easily one of the best meals I've had in quite a while. You can't go wrong on the menu, but save room for the Basque Cake - trust me!
There are about 2 too many tables along the south wall. Just very difficult to get in or out, feel like you’re in your neighbor’s conversation. Awesome food, but the experience is tough.
Food was ok, actually pretty good, but nothing special. My big complaint was I reserved a table for 10. When I got there they said they wanted a party of this size to order family style. Said I could order ala cart, but they did not know if the food would all come out at the same time.
The great thing about The Bristol is that the menu changes often. Of course, there are some dependable and wonderful standards (monkey bread, duck fat fries, raviolo, Amish half chicken) but other items are wonderfully fleeting and must be tried. On a recent visit this included the cured salmon, mushroom tagliatelle, and the sturgeon. In addition, service is always friendly and professional while wine service is spot on.
Salty, salty, salty! There were six people in my party, so we were able to share about 10 different dishes (from starters to mains). Aside from the beats starter dish, everything was VERY salty. Mediocre food, at best. Plus, the lighting was way too low. We couldn't even see what we were eating half the time. Service was good, and wine was good. But left something to desire for a $700 meal.
Good experience. A bit expensive but not the worst. Great service and plenty of room between tables for conversation.
Tried almost half the menu... everything was incredible! The risotto is one of the creamiest, most flavorful dishes I’ve had. Dumplings were awesome, wagyu skirt steak with mushrooms was prepared flawlessly. Arrive hungry!
DELICIOUS! Get the sturgeon dish - it is soooo great. I hope they keep it on the menu forever. My husband loves the burger and the duck fat fries are just fabulous. Highly recommend this lovely neighborhood restaurant!
Love this place! We were running about 10 minutes late so I called and informed the host and he was totally cool about it whereas some places can be curt and love to remind you that they will give away your table if you're more than 15 minutes late.
Shortly after being seated we were greeted by Kelli G. and because HH was due to end shortly, she took our drink and HH food orders so that we could take advantage of the great prices. You can't beat $5 glasses of wine and $6 food options. We chose the beets, squash arancini balls, and duck fat fries. All dishes were good except the beets and I really love beets, so that was a bummer. The monkey bread was on point, you can't go wrong with cacio e pepe, but the Amish 1/2 chicken....Whoa! I see why it's their #1 ordered dish. For dessert, we chose the caramel sundae and the pb cookies with cremaux. The cremaux was salty and the least favorite.
The ambiance is great here, it felt very cozy and comfortable, the service and food were great. I can't wait to come back.
Sunday night dinner for a birthday celebration. Service was amazing from start to end. Everything we tried was fantastic - Porchetta, cacio e pepe, mussels, fries (we had more dishes but these stood out for me) and we shared 3 desserts. We could have licked the plates clean. Round of cocktails and a bottle of wine kept us happier. We will be back
The experience, from start to finish, was great! The service was perfect, food was delicious, and I felt like it was a good value.
Better to do a few apps and share plates
enjoyable experience....enjoyed duck experience and wine pairing
This is such a good restaurant offering good menu and tasty food.
We enjoyed having mussels, wahu steak and mushroom tagliatelle.
All were superb.
We will be back again soon.
I also love the fact that they take reservations for brunch so no wait is necessary.
Solid brunch food, the Tuscan kale salad was very good. Quite noisy.
Delicious food and drinks! Great service
Food was great and service was amazing! The raviola and monkey bread were delicious and drinks were great too
They no longer served the dishes we came to enjoy.
The atmosphere was wonderful, quiet, low lighting, good for an intimate meal. The servers were friendly, fairly knowledgeable on the drinks and food menu and were helpful. They ask about allergens before sending your order to the kitchen. The food is prepared fresh and takes some time to arrive- which is great and rare to find a place in Chicago which doesn't try to get you in and out in under an hour. The ingredients appear to be good quality and the flavours are well matched, very rich and quite salty but tasty. The portion sizes are good, not too huge like a lot of places. The B-sides 3 course menu is great, and the regular a la carte is also good. You can get good deals on drinks and starters during happy hour too. The bathrooms looked nice and were clean.
Great food, nice atmosphere, good cocktails. A lovely evening out.
