Great food, great service...we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves
My favorite weekend brunch place in downtown SF. Get the Sautéed Gulf Shrimp which is served over the creamiest polenta! Yummy Bloody Marys, too.
The best food we have ever had delicious
Great food and wonderful service. The crust cover salmon was great.
this must be my 6th visit - usually outstanding and always a good spot for special occasions. This time - food was good, but we had 3 or 4 people serving us and it seemed like they didn't know what the others were doing. One would ask - did you need something else - I would respond that we already asked for the wine list. Also, it took about 20 minutes to get our pre-dinner cocktail, yet our food came ever so quickly once ordered. My guests from Belomnt hadn't been before - didn't seem impressed.
The Cavalier is a decent place for lunch. Food is average and the menu is pretty narrow. Service was fast and professional.
It’s a beautiful place with great food. It was a bit busy and slightly noisy.
Dined here several times. Typically much better. Our food arrived cold and was not up to the quality of previous visits.
Great spot for lunch or cocktails in their bar. Great service and fun atmosphere.
Had a wonderful breakfast with my family for our annual holiday SF trip. The restaurant is so charming! We had a great server, I believe his name was Tim. He was very helpful and gave great advice on ordering. Our food and drinks were delicious! I think we found our new favorite spot to visit each year.
A pleasant surprise. We ate there just because it was convenient ... and it was good. Service was very friendly and all of the food was good, some of it very good (brussels sprouts chips; a scallop entre). It's a convenient, tasty alternative if you're downtown shopping or for a movie, early dinner after work. We'll go back.
We weren't iimpressed with the NYE menu. We probably try again with the normal menu to give it a fair chance.
Cavalier was a great spot for our NYE dinner. The British inspired dishes were rich, salty, buttery and delicious!
Delightful staff, delicious yet simple food, cozy atmosphere. Went at the time that breakfast was ending and lunch began and they were very kind to offer us both. We opted for breakfast and were surprised with how simple dishes could have such complex flavors. Will return for drinks and dinner!
Felt really dirty and the menu wasn’t good. Excellent service though
Patrick, our waiter, was absolutely perfect. The Cavalier salad is simple yet delicious. And be sure and ask for a “White Lady!”
Always love the food. Wish more extensive/lunch menu available Sundays as I am not a brunch person
We have gone to The Cavalier more than 5 years in a row! Every time we are in San Francisco! Never fails to impress!
Love going to Maryanns after!
We had a blast, fun waitperson, lots of delicious shared food, great specialty cocktails, loved the corner table, lots of laughter with great friends enjoying great food and drinks. 👍🏼👍🏼
Scotch duck egg was delicious but was room temperature. Would have been better more heated. The butter lettuce salad was also very good. We both ordered the Marlowe burger, well and medium rare. Although the burgers were tasty, both were undercooked. Some of the medium rare bites were not even warm! The well burger had red/pink meat juices on the bun! The accompanying French fries were outstanding! I ordered mine without salt but they were definitely salted! Server offered to make a new batch but declined as I hate to have food wasted. Just did not use the house ketchup. Kitchen chefs could use some help/training.
Food and drinks were delicious and our waiter seamlessly transitioned us from the happy hour menu into the full dinner menu as we were hurrying to make a show. Highly recommend!
Great stop for a light lunch. Salad and open face sandwich. Add in sparkling water and a beer - great quick snack for two.
Mahalo to our waiter / bar tender. We will be back for one of those Pimm’s!!!!
Food was great. Waiter was great. The host left much to be desired. Why on earth would anyone seat two tables next to each other when the rest of the dining room is empty?
A total pretentious vibe when you walk in the door. Waiters and waitresses avoid eye contact at all costs. I felt like I was causing any wait staff irritation to ask for anything. My salad was uneatable. However, when I finally got eye contact from the wait staff, they were kind enough to bring me a different salad which was also uneatable. SALT OVERLOAD ON BOTH! My husband had the scallop entrée that was boring and not worth the money it cost. The best part of the meal was my hamburger and delectable fries so if you’re going to the Cavalier plan on having a burger! One last note.... if you’re looking for a place to have drinks don’t go there! You’ll need twice as many drinks because of the lack of alcohol they serve in one! Total ripoff!
Hosted a business meeting at the restaurant; made a reservation and was seated within 10 mins (it was full on a Wednesday night, so reservations are a must!). Food was excellent - service was attentive, but not invasive. Portions are small, so in hindsight i should have ordered a salad to start.
Usually my favorite restaurant before theater, but so disappointed with the service and menu. The server was so uncharacteristically incompetent and menu so very limited. Do they have a change in the ownership?
little loud but great service. Would love a bit wider selection of food items but overall theses a great place for pre-theater!
I'd expect so acclaimed a "London inspired brasserie" to deliver impeccable fish and chips. Unfortunately the fish was mushy and tasteless, and rather overwhelmed by the minted pea accompaniment. Fortunately this followed a surprisingly good starter (lamb hash with latkes) and was followed by an above-average crème brûlée, and service was attentive. Overall somewhat disappointing given high expectations.
Wait quaint little restaurant so cozy with the holiday decorations up. Very friendly staff with great knowledge of your menu.
Relaxing environment with friendly staff and superb food. Never felt rushed at all.
Good food. Very warm and competent service. Great atmosphere. Would recommend it!
OK food, nice atmosphere and service. Overall pleasant dinner.
We loved everything about our brunch, especially the service. Tim took excellent care of us and the man who greeted us was lovely as well. There were good sized portions and delicious cocktails. Would definitely come back and recommend to others!
Good food and helpful service who recommended a change in what we had chosen and was right !
Beautiful interior down a hidden alley between Mission and Marker. I booked based on Open Table reviews for my wife’s birthday brunch followed by HAMILTON, followed by dinner at another Open Table gem. We ordered champagne by the glass and the Lamb Hash entrees. Followed up with coffee. Discovered the connected hotel mid brunch. Service was quiet and good. Not an “on” or “in your face” style. We will be back. The Lamb Hash? Well you have to try it now. AMAZING.
A very welcoming and friendly staff for our weekend brunch. Don't pass up the great Bloody Mary drink. Also loved the scones and clotted cream w/ Earl Grey tea.
Roasted tomato soup and the roasted Brussels sprouts were awesome! Also loved the decor.
Food was tasty and the atmosphere nice, but the waitress today was the worst. Slow service, passed by the table several times and ignored us, despite intent eye contact and trying to wave her down. The manager stepped in, I think he noticed.
OMG. THE CHICKEN
Food was very good. Staff was attentive. I bit pricey for the portion amount. My only complaint was we noted this was for a birthday and no one mentioned it, said anything, or acknowledged the birthday.
