The Chateau - Norton
We dined on a Tuesday. The special of the day was chicken parmigiana. It was excellent for only $12.95. Our only disappointment was poor service.
This was my first time visiting and it was absolutely awful. 25 minute wait just to get our drinks in, during that wait two different servers stopped and asked if someone had taken our drinks we said no and both servers just walked away. Finally after getting a 3rd server who actually got our drinks and brought bread to the table we put our food orders in. Clearly the overpriced food is microwaved I ordered pasta and my date had raviolis which were brought out in approximately 6 min. The food was disgusting. The waitress never offered us second drinks or dessert put the check on the table then we had to wait an additional 20 minutes for change. Absolutely the worst place I've ever been.

Our dining was surprisingly good. In the past, our food would usually be served cold. Also, we don’t care for their sauce. We decided to go since it is in the neighborhood and we just wanted a restaurant close by. We got steak tips which were excellent, cooked exactly medium-rare as requested, and hot. The roasted vegetables were wonderful. Our server, Peter, was outstanding. We did stay away from anything on the menu served with their sauce.
We are frequent visitors to the Chateau in Norton. We do the call ahead which is helpful since we have a 25 minute ride to get there. This night we got a free entrée. we're on the mailing list, since one of us had a birthday. The food is always good, well prepared and decent portions. I got the Shrimp, Scallop and Lobster with penne. It is advertises as spicy, due to the hot peppers, but I get it without the peppers( I'm not crazy about spicy food). My wife likes the Baked Stuffed Shrimp. The waitress was very nice, easy to talk to, and aware of our needs. It wasn't that busy( the Patriots were on that night) so it was relatively quiet and easy to carry on a conversation. We would highly recommend the Chateau and use the call ahead, then you don't have to wait for a table.
This place needs an update. The location by the lake is nice and our server was lovely. I shouldn’t judge the food based on a salad because that’s not their specialty, but I got the chopped salad which sounded good: beets, corn, chickpeas, tomatoes over greens. It was canned beets, corn, and chickpeas with underripe tomatoes and iceberg lettuce. If you’re offering an entree salad you really need to be using fresh ingredients. The pasta dishes looked better. Even the bread everyone raves about was chewy white bread with over chilled butter. If you want to play Keno while looking at the lake (and a million TVs!) in a dated atmosphere this is the place. If you prefer fresh Ingredients and a modern take on Italian pass.
We were a party of six and were given a round table which was very nice for conversations. Our waiter was very nice and kept us updated on the Patriot's football game, as we requested. The food was good, but not memorable. Our waiter brought us plenty of bread for the table, which was very nice. The service was quite good and our server accommodated our requests for plenty of time for us to visit along with having our diner. My husband had fish and chips and thought the fish was very good but the French fries were on the cool side. The rest of us made other choices and thought the food was fine but not exceptional. This is a nice place, there are plenty of parking spaces, and (as far as I know), everything is on one level, if that is important to you.
The waitress did her best to accommodate us, however the food was do disappointing.
We were s party of four with a 5;00 reservation.
The restaurant was not busy at all.
We ordered appetizers, stuffed mushrooms and antipasto. The mushrooms lacked flavor. The antipasto? So disappointed they even call it such.
It had 4 slices of salami the size you put on cheese and crackers. One tomato with one piece of mozzarella...
My husband ordered steak tips. They were like rubber. I ordered toasted ravioli, appetizers portion of 4. They were so tough that I only ate 3 of them.
My cousins meal was also sent back.
Although the restaurants manager comped the meal, our experience with this restaurant has left a negative taste in our mouths.
Our server was absolutely magnificent. The food was delicious.
We don’t frequent the Norton location often, we usually dine at the Stoughton location. We were very pleased , and we will be back.
- A very successful restaurant that has honed it's ability to feed a massive number of people and not run out of room in the parking lot. The staff was very nice - every single person (but our waitress was the best !!!) We were ushered through a room that took my breath away - A massive number of people who were all packed in close proximity but still seemed to have their own separate area. Luckily, we were shown to a table that was separated from the main area and was next to the windows that overlooked the lake. This area was much more private and gave a feeling of being separated from the main group. The service was great and the wait time was very short considering the number of people who were being served. The drinks were great and the meals were very well prepared. My only comment (and consider that I am one of the most frugal people in America) the prices, averaging $18, for a menu that was Italian was a bit high. I will close by saying that The Chateau is managed to perfection and they sure feed a lot of people on a Saturday night. I would suggest that you go and give it a try. You'll be very happy with the staff and the meals and you can add it to your rotation at a frequency that you desire.
We hadn’t been to The Chateau in several years because of some poor service experiences. On a whim, we decided to give it a try again. It was not a particularly busy Saturday night by their standards. We had no problems booking a reservation, though we had to wait a few minutes while they checked to see if the empty table right by them was “ready.” Probably a bad signal. We sat for 5 minutes before our server acknowledged us and another 4-5 before she came by, flustered by how “busy” it was (her station was not full and 2 tables we’re getting ready to leave). Rookie mistake- we placed our drink and food orders together since it was apparent she couldn’t handle her workload. Over 5 more minutes before drinks arrived, though the server was cheery and pretending this was normal. A food runner brought our appetizers but then 3 minutes later, Jazmin hurriedly presented our entrees. “I didn’t know they would come out so quick,” she demurred. No apologies, no checking back on us until we were finished. (At this point she had only 2 other tables.) Had the dinner flowed as one would expect, we probably would have had another round of drinks or wine, had enough time to rest between courses to maybe had desert. Instead, we rushed to eat so our food didn’t get cold, then just wanted out. Bottom line - little has changed at The Chateau. The food is consistent, decent but unspectacular, and the service is just not good. Maybe they need more servers, faster bar service or food runners, probably just need better training. It cost the restaurant some extra revenue, cost the server a decent tip, and cost The Chateau brand 2 customers.
We had a birthday celebration. Everything was great. Wonderful waitress.
Not a big fan. I feel the prices are high for mediocre Italian food. The place is outdated and needs to be freshened up.
I will say, the bread is awesome!
We went with my Birthday free entree, prime rib was delicious!
Food was cold for everyone in our 14 person party management only took $40 off the bill. We will never go back
We did the call ahead, which is advisable on a Saturday night. Very busy. Got seated timely. Waitress very nice, seemed like she was new. Ordered a large mixed drink, my wife ordered a small wine. Order was reversed, mine was small, hers was big. I ordered a mixed drink with ginger ale, seemed flat. Did not send it back. We asked for water, got one glass. Food was very good. She cleared some dishes from the table when we were done, left the rest. All in all, not bad. We like the menu so I'm sure we'll be back.
Great time. Love that they accommodate outside birthday cakes. Food is always hot and delicious. Excellent drinks and service.

The lake view at sunset and the ambience was beautiful. The food was a little rich and heavy for my taste, but it still was good. The service was exceptional for our group of 7.
haven't visited in long time. great onion soup, but they cook the fish to cardboard.

It was my birthday dinner and we all had seafood and it was delicious. They had several different Sangrias and we chose the Pink/Blush it was amazingly good!!
We all had a fabulous time celebrating our Anniversary and our Grandson’s Birthday.
Excellent food and service. We had a party of 10 and our waitresses were awesome.

My husband and I went to the Chateau for my birthday. It was perfect, we had a table by the water, delicious dinner, drinks and dessert !! Our waiter was very attentive and on top of everything !!!
We went on the early side. We enjoy their food and have often ordered take out. On this occasion we decided to eat in. The food was great. Our server was fantastic! He could not have been friendlier or more professional. Thank you
Maybe because it was Monday, the waitress was fine but the food took forever. After about a half hour wait, we were told that an accident in the kitchen delayed the order.

I was very disappointed when we arrived at 7:15pm for an Open Table reservation for 7:30pm and had to wait until 8pm to be seated after being told it would be just a few more minutes. Upon next check at 7:40pm we were told just a couple more minutes, that the kitchen was backed up. Had they been honest with us from the get go we would have left. The service and food were up to standard par for this restaurant, very good. However there was a wedding in the back function room causing the noise level to be a bit higher than normal dinning. However every time a server went thru the door to enter of exit the function room the noise level became absolutely distracting to our meal and conversation. I’ve enjoyed this and other Chateau locations in the past and hope they would take more care to be upfront with patrons in the future as to how long the wait will be and also to let folks know they have a loud function taking place and let them choose to pick another location in the restaurant or pass that evening.
Ordinarily, we love the Chateau. This time, however, was rough. Orders were confused, the food was very slow, and when it finally came - it was cold. It seemed that they were understaffed, so I am chalking this up to that. I will still come back - I love the stuffed shells.
We sat in the Tuscany room overlooking the lake. The food is outstanding. Best seafood always very fresh. Husband had an Italian platter which was delicious.
The service was very good. I highly recommend reservations if you are going on a Saturday night.
We had a very poor server. Her name is Pam. Our party of 4 arrived at 4:40PM to take advantage of the early bird menu before 5:00PM. We asked for the early bird menu and Pam told us us it’s too late. Another server overheard Pam telling us it’s too late and corrected her. After that, Pam was rude and inattentive. As an example, after the meal we waited over 15 minutes before she gave us the check. I had to ask the hostess to find Pam. The restaurant was almost empty so it wasn’t like she was overwhelmed with patrons. Sadly, she was training a new server. I hope the new server doesn’t pick up Pam’s terrible attitude. As for the food, 3 entrees were very good and one was bland and lukewarm.
Food did not come out hot
Very Disappointing! I read the other reviews and the food always got high marks, But I beg to differ the service was very good the waitress was friendly and served us quickly. The food on the other hand was some of the lowest quality Italian food I've ever had. The waitress recommended the seafood, and we should of listened. However we started with the Special Caprese salad, which was a piece of lettuce with two slices of what were supposed to be local tomato, they were not ripe, they had a slice of mozzarella on them and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. No seasoning what so ever, no garlic, no finishing salt or pepper, no basil, nothing to flavor the dish, definitely a fail. Then we order the Bolognese which the waitress said was new to the menu, well I hope it's not around for long because it was the second fail, the meat was ok, the Pasta was cooked properly, the sauce was non existent and like water and had no flavor what so ever the worst Bolognese ever. The Scrod Belle vista was cooked properly, had onion and tomato on top of a nice size filet, but again no flavor or seasoning whats so ever. Last problem was the food was served cold, it was Friday night at 7pm not very busy and the food came out cold? the Chateau needs a lot of work to get up to par.
As I mentioned in a previous review of this visit to the Chateau, we did the call ahead reservation. I mentioned that to the hostess, who told us she would check on our table. No response after that, We waited for 15 minutes, with several parties coming in after us and being seated before us. Finally, I spoke to the hostess. No response, no explanation why we still waiting, no apology. Once seated, our meals were very good, the waitress was personable.
The food is always good. We are frequent visitors. My complaint was with the hostess. If she had just made the effort to explain why we were still waiting to be seated, that would have been fine.
We have been to this restaurant many times. The food is always good and was on this visit as well. The service was very slow which was unexpected.
Very friendly staff. Portions were large. Food very good. I would recommend this restaurant to friends. Easy access to the highway.
Pasta did not come with any lasagna or chix parm dishes.
When we asked asked for a little pasta, no sauce with it.
All dishes came out warm, not hot.
