We sat outside and all safety precautions were followed - non-touch menus and billing were a plus. The food for brunch was quite good and there were lots of interesting choices. The waffle with smoked salmon, salmon roe and crème fraiche was particularly yummy and quite decadent. The wine choices were great!
Will definitely return.
I ordered mussels as appetizer; fantastic! Then cavatelli pasta with short ribs. Too much sauce and mushy short ribs. Prices were too high also
Great food, and the outdoor dining is memorable. The staff was attentive and friendly . The wines were excellent - pricey but worth it.
I love when my food arrives piping hot!
Food was delicious.
The food is nice but bit plain and sober
Food was good. In particular we really liked the skate and the burger was very good. The service was on point, but I did not feel comfortable as we neared the end of our meal. I felt like people were sitting too close to my table.
Amazing food!
Amazing service!
See you soon!
Great venue for a date. Long cocktail list and great ambiance, however not quite matched by the food (burrata salad with strange aftertaste, steak frites with more sauce than steak, very salty lobster risotto). Prices also on the higher end for the neighborhood.
Overall, I’d say stick to cocktails, there are probably better venues for food in the area.
Scenic and romantic, charming place. However, food is horrible.
Amazing!!! Delicious food, beautiful ambiance, excellent service!
We ate indoors at The Consulate the weekend indoor dining started back up in NYC. They kept all tables spread out and all staff wore a mask and asked for temperatures. The food was very good and quick and the drinks were excellent! The staff was friendly and quick. We will be going back for sure!
Fantastic restaurant. Food is always delicious and I love the ambiance. Staff is very welcoming and friendly
One of Upper West Side’s best wine I personally paired it with a side of mushrooms. Dress code varies so don’t worry too much. The service entails more than two to three assisting the table so I tend to dress my casual best!
Service is professional and attentive (straddling the line of almost too attentive); a great service (from my view) needs to also allow me to feel as though my guest and I are enjoying dinner with the two of us...not necessarily with the other four staff members attending our table. But, that can be a “beneficial” minus to some.
Ambiance at night is chicly cozy, dim lighting and the decor allows you to indulge without being intimidated. I felt safe eating there as it is 2021. Definitely recommend dinner and brunch for whatever the reason. You’ll enjoy your time!
It was lovely.
We had a fantastic meal and experience at The Consulate. The service and great food warmed up a very cold evening. It was the first night of 25% capacity indoor dining, yet the staff did not miss a beat. This is a treasured addition to UWS dining!
Our waiter was awesome, the food was great but the cocktails were incredible!
Been coming here regularly since they opened and have been quite pleased until now. Service was a complete disappointment this time: brought me the wrong drink twice (I didn’t bother asking them to get it right after the second time), the wrong dish (which they additionally tried to charge me for) and the service was entirely extremely slow. Reluctant to return after this.
This was our first visit to The Consulate and we were extremely disappointed. A party of three, none of us had a meal that we thought was up to snuff. The steak frites cost $42 and seemed to be covered in some sort of gravy posing as peppercorn sauce; the branzino tasted like a sad pond. Luckily, our kale salad and the wine were both good. But we won’t be going back.
One of my favorite places in NYC! Outstanding food and great atmosphere, friendly charismatic staff. Have great time every time I go!
The menu looked great so I made a reservation for Christmas and was shocked when I arrived to find they basically turned an outdoor restaurant into an inside one. We did not feel safe at all with covid. There were only two windows and a door open. The rest was sealed tight and inside was very warm. Needless to say, we didn't eat here. Shocked they're passing muster with the health authorities.
We went to another restaurant, French Roast, that respects the safety of its clientele with heat lamps and plastic dividers.
Horrible service. It was Christmas Eve and they weren’t busy at all. We showed up with a reservation. I asked about a chicken dish that used to be on the menu. The waiter said he would check with the chef. He returns 15 minutes later and asks if we’re ready to order. I asked if he had checked about the chicken. He said he had and the chef could make it. My fiancé ordered the $50 Christmas Eve special fish. Our food came 40 minutes later. I did not receive the chicken I asked for. Rather the chicken that was currently on the menu. My fiancé’s fish was Ice cold. They said they would make him a new one however they returned less than 5 minutes later with the plate just heated up. It was a $200 meal that was probably not worth 50. It’s sad because we used to love this place. Will most likely never return
Very memorable dinner. Absolutely everything we ordered was so delicious. The service was generous and attentive. Quick but not hurried. Cocktails were outstanding as well. Just a great experience. Can’t wait to go back.
Had to eat outdoors
Prompt, Attentive , Delicious and enjoyable Ambiance.
Great outdoor dining compared to others in the neighborhood (considering the climate we are in) ; supplied with heated lamps. The Consulate is a great choice. Korean Steak and the Rising Sun cocktail is one of my favorites.
The staff was wonderful to us during these unusual time😊
Overall very nice, some of the items we ordered were just average but we still enjoyed the evening
Lovely dining experience at The Consulate. The Brussels sprouts and kale salad was excellent. The skate fish and French fries were delicious. And the apple tart was wonderful. The service was outstanding the room is beautiful. So glad that I live right nearby.
Love the food choices @The Consulate!! Excellent service too!
Extremely expensive
Always an amazing experience at The Consulate! We sat at the high table inside: the service was impeccable and the food delicious!
Great food and service!
Excellent choice — great room, food, and service. Highly recommended.
Cute place for girls night out. I would recommend to order cocktails, Jelena makes them so delicious.
I am a vegan and they had not one single option for me. This is a real pity. I landed up with a salad (hold the cheese) . I am sure they could do better than this. It's NYC
Excelente , Excelente !!!
Food was amazing ( mushrooms , goat cheese flat bread , and burrata, delicious . Hanger Steak, cook perfect. Service one of the best in our neighborhood . And floor manager make us feel very welcome .
Friendly , Kind and attentive to all detail.
Congratulations
Great !!! Great. Job !!!
Neighborhood gem! This place never disappoints. Food and service are phenomenal and an amazing wine/cocktail list to couple it.
Great addition to the neighborhood! Lovely outdoor space. Delightful menu, well prepared & delicious food, professional service.
Such a lovely setting, and so cozy with the heat lamps -- but the food is overpriced and mediocre, and it was half an hour before anyone came to tell us the specials (no, it was not busy). I've eaten here twice and had the same experience both times. It's a shame, because with this setting, it could be a home run!!
Excellent all around.
Excellent food, attentive service, nice thoughtful set up for outdoor dining.
