The Cornerstop eatery and bar
Was pleased to see that the restaurant was a little bit warmer than the last time I was there. But could still be warmer. Our server was excellent!
Very disappointing experience. We were a party of eight - admittedly a difficult size - that arrived for lunch at 12:30 pm. The problems started almost immediately, as they did not have a number of the items (the carrot ginger soup, empanada and Early Grey tea, among others) listed on the menu. The waitress said that they had changed the menu the day before, but had not had the time to print new menus. Rather than telling us what was available, though, we were left to guess and order based on a now outdated menu. The first lunch entree was not served until we had been seated for an hour; the last entree was served 17 minutes after the first. Management apologized, and offered to comp the late entree. When the bill came, however, the last entree was still on it. It took about 15 minutes for management to correct the bill. In addition, when they asked if dessert was wanted, they brought one menu for the table.
We were split on the food. The street tacos and sausage and fennel flatbread were well received; the quinoa mushroom burger was not, as the "burger" was little more than mush and very bland, and the caesar salad and dressing was said to be essentially tasteless.
Great food and atmosphere
Friendly and knowledgeable staff
We recommend and will be back again soon!
Excellent scallop and risotto entry. Great ambiance, little noisy, but in a bar area, and moderately expensive.
Never been disappointed!
The quality of the food and drinks is excellent. Service is top notch, ambiance is great, quiet enough to speak to friends but still some energy.
$1 oysters from 4pm-6pm make it a destination.
This was our first time trying the Cornerstop. We can’t wait to go back. Great food, atmosphere and service.
Everything was amazing as always! Every time we come in the food, service, and atmosphere is perfect
Interesting and varied menu- front room is great combo of buzz and activity to make dining fun. Wait staff spot on and food fabulous!
This location, which has had at least two other restaurants before The Cornerstop, is a good one on the junction of the towns of Hingham, Hull and Cohasset. It's easy to find and has no close competition in its "neighborhood." Parking appears to be adequate, but we were there on a weeknight. We had a reservation through Open Table and were seated immediately. Our server was friendly and knew the menu. Our meals came fairly quickly in this busy place. The menu is limited like a bistro menu would be, and this was no surprise having looked at the website. Most of the menu items were very appealing and my braised short ribs were delicious and the flavored polenta mixture upon which they rested was very tasty. My Tiramisu was scrumptious. Another big plus was that the beer list was large and the cocktail and drinks list more than adequate.
The only drawbacks to The Cornerstop we can list are that entree portions could be bigger for the prices, the wine list a little larger, and the high seating more comfortable. But that's it.
There is wonderful effort put into the food. So fresh.
Only complaint is how cold it always is there.
Our group of 4 had a fantastic experience at The Corner Stop. Everything we ordered (apps + 4 different salads) was delicious and the server was attentive and friendly. You can’t go wrong at this place. Everything is delicious and the menu changes seasonally. Hands down, they have the best burger on the S Shore! Their cocktails are creative and YUMMY! This is definitely our favorite place on the South Shore!
We always enjoy our dining experiences at the Cornerstop. Great food, service and atmosphere, also appropriate for families as well as couples or groups.
Another great experience at The Cornerstop. Never disappoints. Four of the eight were first time customers and were impressed. Hopefully, they will become repeat customers.
Chose to sit in the bar area, as I prefer the ambiance. Always great food/drinks and great staff.
Br Sprouts were hard as rocks and returned.
Caesar salad was finely chopped lettuce...should be leafy and little cheese, was hard to eat so finely chopped. Noise level was unpleasant.
Service was slow. Food was average at best and very expensive. Boston prices but suburbs quality
We tried the curry roasted cauliflower and the roasted squash flatbread as appetizers. The curry cauliflower was great if you got a bite with the apple chutney, but was eh, if you ate it alone. The roasted squash flatbread was to die for, as was our dessert - the butterscotch pudding. We split the first one and it was so good, we ordered a second. For our entrees, we tried the lamb burger which was fabulous (as were the truffle fries); the Cesar salad with grilled chicken and the street tacos. They were out of cod, so I substituted the bavette steak and they were fabulous! We will definitely be back! Cool spot - food was delicious, ambiance was great and the bar wasn't too noisy. We sat in the high tops, as we had two avid sports fans who needed a view of the game, and still we were able to enjoy our group without shouting across the table.
