The Duck & The Peach is a New American restaurant in D.C.’s Capitol Hill, inspired by the fresh flavors of California and the warmth of New England. Led by Executive Chef Katarina Petonito and Rammy's Pastry Chef of the Year Rochelle Cooper, our seasonal menu features signature dishes like rotisserie duck with watercress panzanella and elegant, handcrafted desserts.

Enjoy the full menu at our bar, offering craft cocktails and a curated wine list featuring women-made selections.     What a terrific experience. Our second to time there. The Duck and the Peach combines outstanding food and excellent service with a fun atmosphere and an inviting decor. Everything on the menu was original, interesting, and unusual, and not just for the sake of being different. It was delicious! With a name like The Duck and the Peach, you’d expect the rotisserie duck to be pretty darn good. It exceeds expectations. Other standouts were the duck liver pâté, honey nut squash, baby carrots, beet risotto, and mushroom polenta. The potato funnel cake was not as crispy or as truffly as I hoped; it was still good. The rotisserie chicken was tasty but dry, unlike the cooked-to-perfection sample we had our first visit. Desserts were a perfect complement to the meal. The pavlova and the chocolate trini’ tea’ were both outstanding and unique. The staff was appropriately engaging and fun. They do allow corkage at $45/bottle with a maximum of 2 bottles, which feels appropriate and is welcome. Wine service was impeccable. The only recommendation I would make for improvement would be to add some sound absorbing materials to the decor. I’ve been to louder fine dining establishments, and the four of us were able to converse without shouting, but it’s not a place for a quiet, romantic dinner. The noise level could come down a bit without killing the lively, fun atmosphere. Highly recommended. We’d go out of our way to dine there… We did, traveling from the Baltimore suburbs, and I’m sure we will again.

    The Duck and Peach was a disappointment overall. The menu is quite limited; the cooking is good but not great; the prices are high, and the ambience is terrible. The place is decorated like a luncheonette and it’s noisy. Service was good, but again the restaurant does not live up to its billing in sources like The Washingtonian.

    We really enjoyed our meal. The duck was amazing and our waitress guided us through an excellent menu with a number of different dishes, all of which created a fun adventure.

    We had a mixed experience. The atmosphere was nice, and the service was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff. Most of the side dishes we tried were pretty decent. However, The mushroom polenta had an overwhelming vinegary taste, lacking the rich, earthy mushroom flavor I had anticipated. Most notably, the restaurant’s signature and titular duck, which I had high expectations for, fell short. While the meat was tender and had a good flavor, the fat was under-rendered, and the skin lacked any crispness whatsoever. Given the emphasis on this dish (and the price) I expected a much better execution. If you are going to make duck your “main thing” it has to be exceptional duck. Also, I think it is poor form to charge $12 for bread and butter, then ask us casually if we would like some more bread, only to inform us later that there’s an additional fee. Overall we left disappointed.

    Food was outstanding and the setting inside the restaurant was beautiful. The only minor issues we had were our waiter was a bit arrogant and the cocktails were small.

    The staff made our first wedding anniversary perfect! Chef Kat's creations are delightful and lead you on a tasteful journey led by her culinary genius. My wife and I were delighted to meet Chef Kat, and she is as wonderful and sweet as her desserts. I highly recommend that anyone in the DC Metro area looking for a quiet, comfortable, cozy location next to Eastern Market for a meal make reservations at The Duck and The Peach!     The service was the best I've experienced in the city in quite some time. Everyone was friendly. Our server was sincere, conversational, and knowledgeable. And of course, the food was delightful.
