The Espy Kitchen
Our waiters Ben and Kevin were awesome, we couldn’t have asked for better service. They made our night!!
I wasn't happy with the Chicken Parma. It seemed over cooked. Also too many chips but that's personal choice and the rocket not a good combo with the parma. Prefer veggies.
Other than that, very happy with the service and staff who were friendly. 5 stars for them.
I'll still recommend to friends.
The service was excellent at The Espy Kitchen. Our food was taking a little longer to come out than usual so they gave us a round of drinks on the house.
Had my birthday dinner with 4 friends at Espy on Saturday night - however our group had a terrible waitress, very poor service and was in a rush to get us out of there. We decided to leave within half an hour of arriving.
Extremely over priced. I will not be eating in the Espy kitchen again. Staff and ambience was fantastic, it’s a shame it’s not a good value meal. Food was average tasting.
Being able to go upstairs for a post dinner drink in the Ghost room made the whole night.
:Love the espy and well done for opening under extremely trying conditions. However, chicken was next to stone cold, meat was to cold, and kids pizzas came 1/2 way through the meal.
Good food, sedate by nice ambience in a great Australian pub building.
We were really disappointed. Went here for my husbands birthday with the kids. The service was poor, no cutlery or drinks without asking. Served 15-20 minutes after arriving. No vegetarian meals except one margarita pizza designed for kids, which my husband and I were forced to share as he wouldn’t let us have a vegetarian pizza. Yes that was his poor birthday lunch. It came out stone cold. No body cared. Will not ever visit this place again. Kids were upset.
Not enough choice on menu. Food quality good but value and variety not really there. It felt a bit like an American Diner to be honest.
We ordered Bloody Marys and the waiter said the whole establishment did not do Bloody Marys! Have never encountered this before at a pub.
The Espy is normally great but Theres no question the COVID rules affecting hospitality establishments have stuffed the dining experience in larger venues such as this, my most recent experience was rushed and confused with overzealous and illogical policies surrounding service, that risked sucking the fun out of the evening . Smaller more pragmatic venues are the only ones worth booking until COVID restrictions are relaxed further
Amazing venue and outstanding service! Well done guys!
It was the first time going out for myself and my husband in a few months. Apart from, necessary signing in, everything was pleasant, the service, the food. Wish more people would be able to work and visit the place. In overall, we enjoyed it. Thank you!
Great night, brilliant staff, amazing food.... Every time.
What a fabulous offering The Espy has. On this occasion though, due to Covid-19 restrictions it was really lacking in atmosphere - to be fair - this is not their fault due to the tight table restrictions put in place. Will definitely return when restrictions are over and can't wait to see this place buzzing as it will do. Food was as expected but I think they could expand on the menu a bit. Again, this could be a limited menu for now due to the amount of people they are turning over at the moment. Brilliant venue for a party, hens night or any other event post covid.
First evening out with girlfriends since COVID lockdown ... what an absolute treat, service and food were superb. Thanks Jess for your excellent service.
Rules were very strict due to the restrictions, so we were only allowed to stay for about 75mins.
There was very little choice for food - only four mains and pizza, and the mains were uninspiring, what you would get at a franchise pub. Two of us had the chicken parma and were disappointed with the quality.
Best thing about it was hardly any people so it was quiet and we got to see the renovation. Would not go here for dinner again unless the menu changed, but would come for a drink/night out.
Little rushed drinks came slow meals came fast
Amazing venue; drinks and ambiance! Best pub in Melbourne
Service was great
Food was ample and nice
Great food and great vibes. Systems in place to make it easy for the customer to manage covid19 restrictions
Outstanding value and service as always. In trying circumstances due to Covid-19 it was a joy to be back at the Espy Kitchen
It was a great night. Loved the Reno on this old girl. The ambiance was amazing as was the service.
Food was good service was excellent.
Use to get in there a bit in the day and it’s been a while. The makeover is awesome. Had a meal and a couple of drinks before a gig at Palais. Super service and food.. I miss a little bit of the old Espy but if it wasn’t once a Melbourne icon it certainly is now. Be seeing ya soon....
Great spot but service was a little slow. Given we paid a 15% public holiday surcharge, the busy-ness shouldn't have been an issue.
Food was pretty good and reasonablely priced.
Enjoy the ambience so will definitely return!!
Great restaurant when you want pub but not the grub. Good value, great food options, lovely staff who provide just the right amount of attention, especially when your pint is just about empty. Absolutely worth it- plus it’s attached to the Espy - I mean how cool is that!
Would like to see more vegan/vegetarian options available. Great ambience, excellent service by our male waiter.
Food was average and service was poor. Would not recommend the banquet as we didn’t get value for money. Also it was a public holiday and they messed up the surcharge meaning all 12 of us had to repay for food and drink. Not ideal
Very fast service, good Sunday roast deal.
Food tasty and meat cooked well.
The restaurant was very noisy on a Sunday afternoon from the amount of people in the bar but that made the atmosphere good
Been twice and staff are friendly & helpful.
It was an amazing experience, great friendly service. Not pushy but attentive.. great menu and lots to choose from..
Good straight forward food that was well cooked. Great service. Reasonably quiet considering all the hard furnishings and was almost full. I would go back again.
Were seated next to the kitchen but it was not an issue. On the contrary, was interesting to see how everything works. Service is first class and the drinks amazing
I felt the pizza was a bit short on toppings for the price, but perhaps that is they style of pizza they produce ... the very thin crust was tasty though!
Chaotic front bar full of fun then placed in the peaceful eating area at the rear. Food, drinks and service were all excellent.
We were visiting with friends from Brisbane via Royal Caribbean 'Voyager of the Seas'. The highlight of our cruise was visiting the Queen Victoria Markets and then catching a tram to St Kilda to enjoy lunch at 'The Espy'.
The markets were on, so we were able to enjoy those prior to dining at the 'Espy Kitchen'.
We enjoyed the calamari, pork, zucchini flowers, chicken pate and roasted pumpkin salad. Aperol Spritz was on tap which is my most favourite drink and due to the weather being a perfect 30 degrees went down a treat. We also tried the Seaside Spritz which was equally refreshing.
The service from the moment we arrived to the moment we left was second to none. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
We were very sad to leave at the end of lunch however we needed to get back to the boat, although we were tempted to stay and enjoy.
Our dinner in the Kitchen was delicious. After we went up to the Ghost bar which was fabulous. A lovely way to end the night.
A great Friday dinner ana cocktails with friends. Lovely food, lots to choose from! Great wine list and cocktails 👌 Ellen was amazing and looked after us so well!
Ford and service very good but expensive. good but doesn't warrant the cost.
