The Farmhouse Restaurant at Fair Oaks Farm
The restaurant is so welcoming. Warm decor, HUGE fireplace and a great view of the farm. The food was incredible! I can’t wait to go back to try more food. I live in Indy and it was well worth the drive.
Food was at best ok, the level of cuisine has dropped dramatically. We have had many meals at this restaurant and are hoping our last two visits were a fluke.
Main course was brought out about 3 minutes after the appetizers.
Fries with the main course were cold.
Somebody not paying attention.
The food was good, although a little pricey especially for lunch. However, our waitress was pushy. She kept trying to take the food we were still eating which got very annoying. We are paying $20 per person for lunch, then I am going to eat my entire lunch. There was no need for her to ask to take the plate 3 different times when it was still being eaten. A member of our party had the loyalty/discount card and the waitress was not happy about taking the 10% off our bill.
I will as disappointed by overall experience. I had a steak that was more fat than meat. I asked questions of waitress and I felt she was dismissive. I was a little overwhelmed by all the menus! It was not the best experience!
Everything was delicious! Our server recommended the Brussels sprouts— gross right?? Nope! They were to die for. Seriously!!
Our bartender/server was amazing and the fried chicken and steak were impeccable! Best fried chicken ever! Will be back here.
Food is excellent, place is great, the fireplace is amazing but I felt like a was rush to eat end then leave.
I would recommend it, however, I wouldn’t have high expectations for this place. The food was good, but the atmosphere was not what I expected. The place was too bright from the kitchen lights, and I felt like I was in a cafeteria. The marketing and website made the place look more cozy and intimate.
A very relaxing and festive atmosphere after a long day on the road. Nostalgic decor highlighted with a centrally located fireplace reminded us of years gone by. The pecan crusted walleye and 8oz filet mignon were excellent, however a small loaf of homemade bread and butter with the dinner would have added a nice touch.
We went to The Farmhouse for our anniversary. We enjoyed the evening very much. The food was excellent. We both had the pecan crusted walleye, it was served quickly and hot. The service was great.
Food always delicious. Service was great!! Get a glass of chocolate milk.... best chocolate milk around.
We love The Farmhouse. We have gone there a few times and plan on going back. Love the food and the staff
I’ve dined here a couple of times and the food was consistently good both times, all items ordered. The service, not so much. They delivered the wrong entree the first time I was here which I’m not even sure how that happens. But I let it go and decided to return. This time, the other person in my party ordered the chicken dumplings. The waitress said they ran out the night before so she double checked with the kitchen and was told there was plenty. 20 minutes go by and then the manager comes to tell us they were, in fact, out. OK. So, a new order was placed and we patiently waited another 20 minutes for the food. You’d have thought they would have made some token gesture for the error and delay. Maybe a free drink, an app, or comp the entree entirely. Nope. Instead, we got the check and were not only billed for a drink we didn’t order but the waitress proceeds to tell us she didn’t charge for one of the drinks ordered. We point out that the “free” drink was indeed on the check. So she removes the overcharge but leaves the free one on. Huh? Needless to say, this whole thing was a bit insulting and we will not return. You’d think they would have handled this better but apparently not.
The food was top notch. The service was personal and great(Brandi!). The only quibble was the ambiance of the dining room itself. It had the feel of a summer camp mess hall without the warmth
Amazing pecan crusted walleye. Excellent service from Brien.
I love good, ol' fried chicken. Theirs is very good. I ate the whole half chicken, greens and mashed potatoes and needed nothing more. My tummy was very happy.
Great beer and food.
Order three different meals. All three were very good.
It is a great venue with lots of character. Extremely clean and the staff is very attentive.. The menu has a wide spectrum of midwestern fair to choose from and the kitchen staff executes the dishes so as to not disappoint. Have been there 5-6 times and have never ordered the same thing but quality is always consistent.
Very cozy with open viewing to kitchen - well organized and excellent service. Good was comfort food, very tasty.
We had a reservation and were promptly seated and greeted. Drinks and food were served quickly, and everything was fresh and incredibly delicious.
everyone was courteous and friendly. we had dinner there two nights in a row. the first night the food took longer to be served than I expected. I had the tenderloin sandwich which was good but maybe cooked a little too long and my wife had 1/2 rack of ribs which were prepared very well and was very good. the second night I had the rib-eye and it was excellent. cooked to perfection and not a bad bite on any part of it. my wife had french fries and one of the starters, but we had to ask to have new fries because the first ones weren't hot. so the experience wasn't too much different than other restaurants except for the quality of the steak and it was better than any restaurant steak I have had anywhere.
Always a pleasure at The Farmhouse restaurant. We go for the fried chicken. They give you 4 pieces along with mashed potatoes gravy etc. This visit I decided to try the Brick Chicken! OMG so delicious! The desserts are amazing as well. So much to do on the property as well. Super nice facility.
Food is okay, not great. Service was incredibly slow, and it wasn’t super busy. Our server’s excuse for all delays was his boss was in and sat in his section. Second visit to this location because there is so much potential and we thought our first bad experience was a fluke. Fair Oaks is super cool, the restaurant just doesn’t match the standards for the rest of the property. Will not dine in the restaurant again.
Service was great, but the prices for dinners are high. The French onion soup was delicious, as was the Mac n cheese. My pastrami sandwich had big beautiful marble rye bread, but only a few thin slices of pastrami that had been grilled until it was hard and dry. That was very disappointing.
Best steak I’ve ever had!!! Cut with a butter knife. Great tasting food. Server was on point with checking on us, even with being busy.
Food and service was great
We ordered the cheese curds which little fries balls of happiness but realized we should have ordered the Bacon Sampler. Next time. I recommend the pork tenderloin sandwich. It was crispy, juicy and delicious. My husband had the BBQ pork sandwich which he thought was pretty good. I think there were a couple of end pieces that were hard to chew that threw him off. The corn on the cob was overcooked but the kids didn't seem to mind. The brussel sprouts were roasted and tasty. Kids had the regular kids' items but they seemed happy. Will definitely stop here again.
For the most part food was okay. I ordered the ribeye, and it was over-salted, so much so, that my tongue swelled, after two bites. They were accommodating, by removing it from our check, and asking if I wanted something else. I said no thank you because the amount of pain that was on my tongue. Not what I would expect from the restaurant. The handful of times since we have moved out this way, March 2019, service is a little slow. Slow to greet at the table. Not complaining, just used to someone greeting us at the table within a few minutes of sitting down and taking our drink order and having it delivered within an acceptance amount of time. We did sign up for their awards card, and was told a manger would be over to drop it off, we sat there for about five minutes, and no one showed up. Therefore, we left without receiving our rewards card. Would we go back, yes, however it’s because there is not much out in this area. Also disappointed, that the ribeye I did order, did not come from their farm.
We needed to wait for the meal more than 30 minutes after ordering. And onion soup served was not proper temprature.
The food was good. Some things better than others of course. Would suggest sticking to a home style type of dish like the Mac and cheese or the chicken pot pie. I had steak and it was really good but not for the price. The cheese they make is THE BEST CHEESE I have ever had. The cheese board appetizer is delicious and anything involving cheese was good. We ate several meals there. The chicken wings appetizer was also outstanding. Overall the experience was great and will go back again.
Food was ok. We sat outside, but guests to an event kept walking through which wouldn’t have been bad if they weren’t smoking or swearing.
Consistently well done. This was my 5th visit in 2 years.
The food was fantastic, it was a little pricey but I was expecting that. Best steak I have had in a long time.
Had a great time. Food and service were great!!!
Everything was good but my mash potatoes were cold
Have been there a few times and usually is outstanding. This time a few complaints were heard at our table. Pesto chicken sandwich was small with mostly lettuce and tomato. Country Fried Chicken was okay but gravy had no flavor. Pork Tenderloin sandwich was large but no onions and only a very thin slice of tomato in comparison to the size of the meat. Waitress not as personable as most of them are there. We will be back again sometime though. Not usually a complainer but since you are asking...........
We had a wonderful meal. The service was top notch and it was fairly peaceful. We will return again soon.
Friendly service, good food in a nice atmosphere. Would go back.
