The Fish Market-San Jose
First of all the food was horrible cold and service was ok very disappointed on this second time we have ate here. We will not be back !!!!
Servers were very nice! Got us toasted warm bread with whipped butter! So crunchy outside soft inside. Calamari and crab dip were delicious! Shrimp ceviches was a bit bland. Petral sole could use a bit more seasoning. My son enjoyed the dinner!
Since this is the "Fish Market", I hoped there would be more wild-caught fish. Instead, they emphasize "fresh" fish, implying (I assume) never frozen. I would also expect more of a variety of fish that I can't get in just about any grocery store. That was disappointing, especially considering the entree prices. But my wife and here sister enjoyed their dishes more than I did mine. Linguine & clams was not as advertised--> LINGUINE AND MANILA CLAMS 20.25: white wine, butter, fresh garlic, green onions
They surprised me by using red pepper flakes in the linguine. That is NOT something you want to surprise someone with!
Our server was great, sorry can’t remember his name. We always have great service when we come here. It’s a little pricey but it’s a great date night or special occasion place.
They were overwhelmed by the increased customers for Valentine's day. The quality and temperature wasn't good. One of the 3 meals wasn't brought with the other meals and actually had to remind them that the meal was missing. If this was our first time, it would be the last.
We were seated shortly after our reservation time and had ordered our drinks and Valentine Dinners. We ordered two waters and a cocktail plus two large crab cioppino’s with linguine. It took about a half hour before I received my cocktail as the water and bread was already on the table. Then the main course arrived and it seemed that one of the so called large crab cioppino was in a slightly smaller cooking pot and had lesser portions then the other and the waitress said that the larger pot was ran out or not available at which we thought was odd. But overall the meal was great.
Very slow kitchen very small portions and very poor service. I had to leave a very small tip. It was that bad.
My husband and I went for Valentines Day dinner.
It was very busy for a Wednesday dinner. The service was great, but the food took a long time to come. When we received the food the vegetables were cold. Then one of my family members didn't receive her food at the same time everyone else did, so it was a bit inconvenient. The food was great, but for going here for the first time I would of expected our food to come a bit quicker
Delicious food. The tilapia was so fresh, everything was good.
Good food and great service!
The food was very late, some other waiter picked up our dinner. The manager comped us, so that was nice, but still.
Double date with some good friends.
It took a long time for our server to take our order and then when our food came it was cold and the portions on some were very larger and others very small - of the same dish ordered.
Parking is a nightmare! Had to park far from the restaurant.
Probably won't return.
We were a group of 13 and had a large private room (room for others) service was good but had ran out if crab? One order was forgotten but finally arrived. We had a good time. We found prices high, we had 2 kids/1 baby/ 1 adult didn't eat and our bill was over 420.00 with only 3 drinks. Averaged at 40.00 per person.
Food is great. Service is great. Price is ok.
Always a good evening the The Fish Market.
Superior service, good food.
Our lunch was great. Nine of us had a wonderful meal.
Took the server a bit to start waiting on us but once he did he was good. Food came in a timely manner and was quite tasty. Prices were reasonable for the dishes.
Very crowded on Saturday night for dinner although we came early and had a reservation
Food is mediocre at best
Fried calamari appetizer is a small portion “boosted” by fried peppers
Skewered scallops were undercooked
Skewered prawns had no flavor
Linguine with clams was ok but some clams were sandy
Will not return
All the dishes were just mediocre. - fish, salads, soups, sushi, pasta. Nothing especially tasty or remarkable. I guess that's why the place was practically empty at 7 PM.
We enjoy the extensive menu and fresh fish offered at the Fish Market. A reliable restaurant for good food.
Ordered: New England clam chowder; Shrimp Tacos; scallops wrapped with prosciitto; fish and chips; shrimp and chips. Shrimp tacos were great. Fish and chips mediocre; Shrimp and chips was vey disappointing because they were over cooked. Coleslaw that accompanied the shrimp and fish dishes were dry and tasteless, almost none edible. Scallops wrapped with prosciutto looked over cooked and was over cooked. Tried to give them away, but no takers. This is my fourth visit to this establishment but yet one of the visit was fulfilling.
Horrible service. Waiter did not know menu or how to serve. I had to show him on the menu that they did indeed have bottled water. Checked in on us every 5 minutes because I’m sure he messed up with the table next to us. We could hear complaints to a manager. We barely finished dinner and he brought us the bill! Didn’t offer us coffee or dessert!!!! Food was delicious! But service can make or break an evening!
We had reservations but still had a long wait to be seated. We were seated in a corner away from the main crowd. Our service was not responsive and the soup took 30 minutes and was warm. Dinner took a long time and was cold when it was dropped off. When I couldn’t find our waitress I complained and the manager came to the table. We waited a long time but they finally brought another dinner. It wasn’t hot off the grill, but was warm enough. They didn’t charge us for the dinner. We won’t eat here again, it was New Years Eve and the experience was exhausting.
Thoroughly enjoy our time at The Fish Market-San Jose. Reservations were honored and service was excellent (even though it was New Year's Eve). Food delicious as well. Will surely re-visit soon. Thank you.
Even with reservations at 6:30pm and arriving 10 mins early, we were asked to wait for a table until 7pm. Once seated we waited again for someone to come by to take our order. Finally flagged a busboy to give our order. The waiter came 10 mins later to ask if we were ready to order. Food arrived 15-30 mins later. The crab dip was not good with hardly any crabmeat. The clam fettuccine was watery and no flavor. We ordered the cioppino without pasta and of course it came with pasta. We hardly found any whole pieces of seafood except for one prawn. Again taste was not good and disappointing. Will not return to this restaurant
We celebrated New Year’s Eve at the Fish Market. We got seated where I had requested. We didn’t have any appetizers as we opted to have dessert instead. The crab was amazing and the steak was cooked to perfection. The only disappointment was that it took a very long time to get our dessert about 30 minutes. I love the fresh fish here and the variety!
One of us got hot food delivered about 10 minutes before the other two of us in the party - 10 minutes later the fried food arrived cold - both meals - cold. How did we wait 10 mins extra for cold food and no apology?
Thinking twice about fish market next time.
Great service and food. Allah our server was perfect
Please changes the tomatoes back to the way they were. The new recipe has no taste, too oily. Also, our rush was not cooked all the way.
Love the local Dungeness crab!
Very Disappointed. Reservation made for 3:00pm to take my disabled Father to Christmas Eve Dinner at the Fish Market. Showed up at 3:00pm and they rushed us to a table-asked for booth. They sat us in booth and we remained there for 20 minutes without anybody coming to us. I saw a waiter and asked if we could order a drink. About 10 minutes later the waiter approached the table and said I need you to order your food right now because we are closed. I was floored! Why would you take my reservation made 3 days ago when you were closed. I asked for a Manager, he unable to do anything but say sorry we are closed. I then walked across parking lot to Black Angus and asked them if they could accommodate my Dad and I for Dinner. They said absolutely and were surprised at what I just told them. I walked back to Fish Market to get my Dad and the door was locked and did not want to let me back in to get my Dad. At this point I am very angry at what is happening. I am so disappointed and furious at what the Fish Market put us through. My dad is 84 years old and on oxygen and I am moving him from Restaurant to Restaurant so we can have a Christmas Eve Dinner. Very Sad they offered us nothing or to even help me with my Dad, they just waved to us as we left. I do have to say that Black Angus went above and beyond to help us. Special thanks to Kristian Maldia, our waiter at Black Angus-Blossom Hill for the Best Service we could have asked for. Again, this is not the way Fish Market-Blossom Hill should have handled this. Very Disappointed in Management. Don't take a Reservation if you are closed!!!
bread and butter are the best part of the meal. My crab salad was just ok and my daughter's crab sandwich was mushy and tasteless and she only had a bite. Calamari was delicious
I won’t be coming back. The fish was OK but nothing great, and the sides were old tasting. For the price we paid there are much better places to eat.
We had a nice private table. We were able to visit & “catch up”.
Everyone in the party enjoyed the selection and the service/food. Was a good experience.
Fish and chips combo was delicious. Noise level is high and if you were hearing aids could be annoying. Service was good. All servers and staff were very courteous.
Minimum wait. Slow service, they were very busy. Server was pleasant and very nice. A bit pricey for just an entree
