Another fantastic dining experience at The Girl & the Fig! We were thankful Nick was able to reserve a table for our party of nine. We were comfortable on the patio with the heater and umbrella. Our server Kelsey was incredibly attentive. Everyone was very pleased with their food and drinks. We couldn’t have asked for a better brunch, and we look forward to our next visit!
Excellent food quality and presentation. Best duck confit we’ve had. Fig salad and drinks were delicious! Nice outdoor ambiance off the plaza.
We dined outside for lunch. There was one overwhelmed server for entire sidewalk seating - seemed surprised by strong turnout which one would expect during Thanksgiving week - crowded! We were disappointed by the mushroom tartine appetizer presentation and blandness of the mushroom risotto. We wanted to order the mussels but they were waiting on shipment, which we learned after ordering white wine. Desert underwhelmed. Overall not what we’ve come to expect of The Girl and the Fig over so many years of excellence. Underwhelmed - missed the mark in our book.
Service....well it was okay
The inside courtyard was “booked” yet we saw 3-4 empty tables the entire meal. Plus they didn’t have enough heaters for their parklet area. They were all next to the empt tables inside the courtyard.
A little work to be done if they want to survive the cooler weather....
I've been to this place a few times in the past. However, this last visit was a bit off. Other than our wine, the appetizers and entrées were all served at the same time.
We were originally seated at a "picnic style" table along the curb and had asked to be moved to a regular table so we could sit on a regular chair. The host was very accommodating. We noticed that the sanitizing part was done haphazardly. The lady was looking away when she sprayed the table and chairs. Needless to say, we ended up re-sanitizing our table and chairs just to be on the safe side.
Tasty meal with excellent service, even during COVID w/ outdoor seating they did a great job maintaining a cozy ambience. Everything was served hot and the risotto was excellent, the mussels were tasty, and the garlic fries were very addicting! :)
Great outdoor dining experience. Lots of heaters. Service and food were exceptional! They even got us in early. We will definitely be back.
Girl and the Fig has always been one of our absolute FAVS! Love the croque monsieur
with the egg on top for brunch, along with a glass of the Idle Viognier ... YUM!! Service has always been top notch. When we used to come up from San Francisco for our weekend "vacation" we always looked forward to a meal there; now that we have moved to Sonoma (lucky us!), it is a destination within walking distance!
Wonderful food, friendly service and super clean. Also great use of the sidewalk space and space heaters to keep things cozy.
Sidewalk dining at its best. Under current circumstances, it's certainly making restaurants pivot to take care of business in new ways. The outdoor dining felt spacious and cozy, even if it was cold outside. Food was outstanding as always, and service attentive.
Food just not good this time.
Had the roasted pumpkin soup with the arugula fig salad - just excellent!!
Waitstaff were very friendly and attentive. LOVED the mushroom tartine and stole a few bites of my daughter’s excellent grilled cheese. Husband demolished his duck confit, and my fig and arugula salad was beautifully balanced. Nice outdoor ambience, ample heaters and it all felt safe.
Excellent food and service. Would definitely be open to coming back again!
it was a great luncheon sitting in the sun outside with great food and good service
Delicious food and drinks with very good service. COVID required outdoor seating, so dress for the weather.
Perfectly executed delicious dishes; cold on the sidewalk seating though
Food quality not quite up to previous excellent standard.
Very much enjoyed dinner on a chilly night. The ONLY thing to improve upon is getting the patio heaters to work better. So, just dress warmly and enjoy wonderful food!
I had the duck Confit, which was a little dry, the beans were not cooked all the way and it was too salty. I had to add sriracha to give it some flavor, I have never had to do that with duck. 😢 I will go back one more time to try other things as they may have had a bad day. The lavender mojito was fantastic!
The food was AMAZINGLY delicious!! This is a MUST to go when you are in Sonoma.
My croque monsieur was not up to the standards I'm used to from GandtF. The cheese wasn't melted, and on a cold night that's essential. There was no bechamel sauce to speak of, and that's what makes the difference between this French classic and a grilled ham and cheese sandwich.
With the weather becoming cooler it's really key to have heat lamps that are really warm. Sadly, ours wasn't, and the moment we signed the check we made our way home because we were so cold.
I will go back because I have had such a good experience previously. I also want to give the benefit of the doubt to any restaurant that's trying to make it during these unique tiimes.
Excellent food, and they've done a wonderful job of providing a lovely dining experience on the sidewalk. As always, the food is superb and the service is excellent, with great attention to detail.
A little chilly outside but still very enjoyable. Gas heaters are beneficial Food was very good, high quality ! Had a great day in Sonoma because of the time spent at the girl and the fig.
Enjoyed the meal. Enjoyed the meal. Enjoyed the meal.
Lovely restaurant and the food is amazing. Will dine at The Girl and the Fig again!
In spite of the restrictions caused by the pandemic, the girl and the fig has created a lovely ambiance on their enclosed patio and street dining area. Their menu, though smaller, hits all the “fig faves” we remember from pre-COVID-19 dining, and their wine list and service were excellent. From a Sonoma resident, I give huge praise to the girl in the fig for adapting to restrictions and the uncertain future of the restaurants in our town.
Highlights were the flounder meunière and seasonal butternut squash soup and mushroom risotto - and of course, the warm chocolate chip cookies and vanilla milk shake for dessert! The wine list is extensive, with “out of the box” selections that will expand your usual options of Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay, and Cabernet. Embrace the chance to try something new!
Mussels should taste like the ocean, not like the broth. They were tasteless, which is hard to do to a mussell. And profitoroles should not be crackly and dry.
But the rest of the meal was of the quality expected, and I would recommend the food overall. On a Monday night, maybe those two items were not as fresh as what they usually serve, and with Covid it has to be hard to maintain exactly the same standards as prior to it.
If I order mussels I shouldn't be asking for someone to bring me a bowl for the shells and a spoon for the liquid - I would have thought that it would be automatic. If I'm having dessert I would expect to get silverware with the plate? The service was a little lacking. The mussels were a little cold on top and the fries also were tepid warm. I had been looking forward to going to this restaurant especially after the reviews were so positive but all in all, no one really cared for you - they were doing their job but not thinking about it. The air vent was right over our table and we could smell food cooking but also it had a burning/tickling sensation. There were a couple of free tables but when we asked to move it wasn't possible so that wasn't a positive. I'm glad we have now been here but I wouldn't go back. There are too many other decent restaurants in Sonoma to go to.
We’ve been going there for years and it has always been great.
If there is any complaint it is that we had to sit outside in the summer one time and it was way too hot. Otherwise nothing but got.
Always love it here. Great, friendly service and amazing food.
Excellent. Every time. I don’t need to say anything else.
The hostess was out of her depth. Other than that the food was, as always, just outstanding - we had the steak Tatar each and shared the house salad. Both were amazing. Our waitress was a doll. I thought eating basically next to the street would be super annoying but it wasn’t at all. Satisfying, tastey, filling, and a good value.
helpful staff, great choice of food and value for money wine list.
CoVid precautions carrtied out well.
We enjoyed our time here. The avocado toast was delicious, lots of chunks of avocado with a perfectly cooked egg! The Croque sandwich was good but both of my friends said the bread was too thick and too soft. Not the typical bread it’s usually served with.
A superb restaurant with consistently excellent food and service.
Our dinner at The Girl and the Fig was the best dinner we had during our stay in Sonoma. The food was outstanding and I can see why people have rated this place as a must eat restaurant while in Sonoma.
We ordered the mussels full order as an appetizer along with the flounder and the mushroom risotto which is vegan (they use cashew butter). Everything was heavenly and I will definitely visit again and order the exact same dishes! Sooooo good!!!
Our server was also extremely friendly and her recommendations were spot on! Five stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
