The Great Escape
Met some old friends for dinner. Food and service were really good. I had the broasted chicken and my husband had the chicken pot pie both were great. Will definitely go there again.
Always a pleasure to come to the great escape because of their food selection. Their ribs are one of the best in Illinois, fall off the bone great barbecue sauce it’s a total winner. You must also try their French fried shrimp order broasted chicken both are a complement to the ribs and are delicious. Fred Ronden soup one of the best tray you’ll love it. Enjoy
We come here often. We always have great service and great food. Can’t wait to go back.
Great service with an appetizing selection of food to fit everyone's palate. The salmon and steaks were very flavorful and cooked just right. It is a great value for the quantity and quality of food served'
Great old time supper club feel. Good service and good food.
Great Restaurant with Amazing Chicago History! The Food and Beverages were absolutely wonderful. We were celebrating my parent's birthdays - 83 and 88. Perfect for elderly, access and layout. Mom and I enjoyed a Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini to start. She and my Dad both had the broasted chicken, a house specialty, and it didn't disappoint. I had the chicken pot pie, absolutely delicious, however huge, totally shareable. My husband had the filet medallions, done perfectly and so very tender.
Love the old supper club feel! The Pot Pie is to die for!!!!!
Consistent great food!
After looking at their website, we were excited to go. Unfortunately, the food was not good. My sons cheesebuger was so rare he could not eat it, they did replace it. My dads chicken pot pie had raw carrots in it. My granddaughters grilled cheese was very greasy as was my meal. Overly greasy. We waited a long time for the dinner also. We were sadly disappointed and will not be going back there. Although the waitress was good and did try hard, it was the kitchens fault.
Our waiter was a bit overwhelmed with too many large parties to serve at the same time. It took too long to get our initial drinks. That being said, the food was very good and we did not feel rushed.
Great service and awesome food! Celebrated our son's birthday. They were very accommodating:)
My wife and I had the prime rib, which a Saturday special. It was delicious! Service is always excellent, especially when Kinga is our server.
We love dining in the 130 year old bar area.
Noice noice noice noice noice noice
The food was delicious when we finally got it. The service was the worst I ever experienced. We waited 15 minutes and finally asked for a server. They were not busy. Waited again another 15 minutes for our drinks which at that point the server Jacob asked us for our dinner order. No one came to check on us and we had to ask random people twice for some bread until we got it. Finally got the bread right before our dinners came which was over an hour from when we sat down. The food was delicious, but the service was so bad we would hesitate to come back.
The food was very good and a bargain. The service was very slow, I'm not sure if they were short staffed that day. Server was pleasant, but long delays between drinks, etc.... The place could also use some sprucing up. The ceiling in the small dinning room was dirty and the heavy tapestry drapes do not seem very sanitary.
Amazing experience. Owner Brian runs a top-notch tight ship.
My parents used to go there in the late 60’s thru the 80’s. I love it there, And now I take my family there. Food is awesome, (ribs and broasted chicken, and don’t pass on the baked French onion soup) clean, great service from the moment you walk in the door, self sufficient energy, touchless bathrooms, old school, love it...
At 5:45PM last Saturday, my wife and I made an online reservation for dinner at 6:30PM. We arrived on time, the place was packed, but we were still seated within 5 minutes of our reservation time. My first impression of the place was 👍!!
Our next impression of the place reminded us of a "Wisconsin Supper Club" with the white table cloths and napkins.
For our entrees, we ordered the Baby Back Ribs and the BBQ Broasted Chicken dinners. Once again, we were duly impressed with the food and our server, Maurine, was right there for us.
The only "negative issue" we had was the high volume level in the room when the tables were filled.
With that said, the prices were very reasonable and I'm sure we will go back again to try more of their offerings.
Met colleague for lunch
Had a wonderful time at the Great Escape. service staff were warm and attentive. Food was extremely tasty. The quantity were generous. It is definitely a place one should visit for a good meal at an excellant price.
This place is great! The atmosphere was awesome. The service was great even though they very busy, and our waitress was extremely nice. The food was delicious and the pricing was very reasonable. I have been here a few times and look forward to going again.
Great food and excellent services
Food was very good and reasonably priced. Restaurant was a bit loud due to several large groups. Overall great experience.
The prime rib is excellent and the broasted chicken is another favorite. Service was great also. Highly recommend
Rather disappointed in this outing. We have been here several times and had a great experience. We were there on a Saturday night around 7:15. We were promptly seated. The wait for food was incredibly long well over 45 minutes. The server was pleasant but struggling to keep up. My prime rib was tough and Luke warm at best. My wife had the chicken pot pie but it was too hot to eat. The waitress bought us dessert a single slice of pie, which we nice but the manger never came over to apologize or even acknowledge the challenges they were having. We really felt like more should have been done.
We go here often and always have a great time. We cannot wait to come back. Love the mustard bass.
Good service. Nice atmosphere and quiet so we could talk! Chickenwas really good! All 9 of us enjoyed our meals! Will return even though far from home!
Been there several times for functions, drinks, but this was the first time for dinner. Had a great time, food was amazing, and the service was excellent. Will be back.
I didn't dislike or like this establishment, it was a rather neutral experience. As a new resident to Schiller Park, it was an attempt to try a place that had fairly decent reviews, something popular. For me and my wife, it was an average experience, a place to eat and see what we thought. The vibe was a little dated, but whether it was intentional or not, I'm uncertain. The food was ok, but not especially memorable, nothing that stood out - it was ok. The demographic that I think might best enjoy this establishment, 60+yrs. It's not a knock, but an observation that, to those inclined, might appreciate the heads up.
More importantly, those whom I interacted with on the employee side of things....wonderful! It's a pleasant place, not fancy, pretty simple, but not for me. The thoughtfulness of that staff was the part I appreciated. Thanks for that!
Most everything was good except the Mahi-mahi was a little over cooked.
The Salmon special was very good.
The waitress was slow and not very attentive.
She did not have a great personality and took too long to refill coffee and didn’t ask if we wanted dessert.
The beignets were very good but not enough powder sugar on them.
I am annoyed that I have to keep calling Open Table to post my points. I have always agreed to have the points automatically posted and every third time or so I have to call customer service to have them physically post the points. What is wrong with this system?
Great neighborhood restaurant. Casual. Great menu selections. Always good service.
Never disappoints! We come here every few months and have tried many items on the menu. All have been wonderful, including the broasted chicken which really is the best broasted chicken we've ever had.
A great neighborhood restaurant with excellent ambience, an historic bar, and comfortable, quiet seating. The food is very good and the wait staff, from the front desk to those attending to tables, is outstanding. This is a little gem with a great neighborhood feel.
My team attended a conference in Rosemont. We were able to go out for dinner. We had different dietary needs. This is a great restaurant if you have different dietary needs, want to talk, eat great food and learn a little history. This restaurant is a historic building and it was fun learning about it. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent tasting meal, great choices on menu , & definitely huge servings.
We were looking for some place a little different. The Great Escape was it. The service was outstanding. The food very good and very reasonable. I would definitely go there again if I was in the area.
Great food and a good menu choices. Can't go wrong
3 of 4 dinners came out cold and and when we talked to the waitress she apologized and had the kitchen heat them but no better. The manager came over to tell us that they have been in business for 27 yrs. Good for them but we will not return.
Always good food and great service. Everyone is always pleasant and accommodating.
Terrific and really a surprise as we don't get this way EVER! But now we wish we did as food was terrific. Reminds me of several restaurants that have gone the way of the bull dozer and that we still miss. Glad that at least there is one left.
