The Greyfriar at Chawton
excellent service, gorgeous food, Simon and his team are working really hard.
The food at The Greyfriars is always outstanding. We have dined here on several occasions and have always received fantastic service and food. I would highly recommend.
Very good food in a charming Pub in a beautiful village.
At the high side for a GastroPub - but worth it.
Great staff , beautiful inn and really really good food. Cost was very reasonable and service pleasant and fast.
Turned out to be an ideal location for my friend and I. I am not from the area and was a little dubious when the manager telephoned me to say they had a large party of 27 serving when we were but they wanted to let us know. In the event they handled everything very well - and the fact they informed me first was very efficient service
The food was good rather than excellent and for me over salted - but overall very good experience and would happily revisit when in the area
Great food, very tasty and efficient service. Will come back to eat again.
Superb lunch. Excellent food and well put together wine list. We had two new borns with us and they could not have been more helpful. We will be back!
The booking had not come through but they managed to accommodate us which was great. Lovely food
Great food which is much better than your average pub food. Nice location and easy to park.
We have started to eat at the Greyfriars about once a month. The food is always good, not cheap but worth splashing out as a treat
The food was exceptional and the service very good. We enjoyed the experience very much, including the live music, and would recommend it highly.
Superb view in a lovely location, the staff were friendly prompt and helpful. The food was wonderful and all at a reasonable price - highly recommended
Good service - friendly staff - never rushed- booked to go again next week
We are so glad, you enjoyed your visit, we look forward to seeing you soon
The Greyfriar was the perfect dining experience for me and my partner. The food was incredible and the service impeccable. Having a food intolerance I find it difficult to find places to eat and places to trust; however, from the moment I was in contact with the pub I felt confident and comfortable. The food was superb and I cannot wait to dine again.
Hi EmmaS, We are so happy that you enjoyed your visit and that you enjoyed the food. we all look forward to seeing you again in the near future kind regards Simon, Norma and team Greyfriar
Good local pub with friendly, attentive staff and a perfectly decent range of excellent dishes on a changing menu.
Hi HowardF Thank you so much for your review.. we look forward to seeing you again in the near future Kind regards Simon, Norma and Team Greyfriar
Very poor roast dinner! All the veg were over cooked, roast potatoes were like bullets, carrots just mush and heaven only know what the cauliflower cheese had been through? The best part of the meal was the mint sauce (probably not “home-made”)!!
Delightful setting of The Greyfriar in Jane Austen's pretty village of Chawton.
Good choice of menu, home cooked to order so allow time for meal. Delicious home made soups, definitely recommended! Steak and Ale pie very filling. Our desserts were tempting, but the lime and lemon cheesecake lacked the citrus tang.
Really friendly service, nice food - we both had the veggie burger and I'd recommend.
Great pub, with nice garden. Food was slow but good. Pub was in a nice location just opposite the Jane Austen house. good for the summer but very small for winter.
