Charming. Lots of outdoor/open-air seating. Great menu options.
The Hog’s Breath Inn needs a MAJOR revamp. It’s pretty tired and the facility is poorly cared for. It looks seedy. The food very mediocre…The wedge salad was ok, the calamari was previously frozen, and the ribs were dry and flavorless. The service was great though…staff was very good. They should get jobs in restaurants that care about the quality of food they serve and clean the facility….
Our experiences (4 people) was amazing. We arrived a few minutes late due to the lack parking but the hostess was very understanding and moved our reservation time to accommodate this issue.
This was my husband and my first experience at the restaurant but our friends who recommended we all dine there had been quite sometime ago. (When Clint Eastwood owned the restaurant)
The ambiance was great! All the rustic fireplaces and patio lights created a relaxed atmosphere. Our waiter, Sergio, was amazing! He was one of the reasons our experience was such a positive one.
The food & drinks were great! I thoroughly enjoyed my Shrimp Pad Thai and everyone else completely enjoyed their choice of entrees. We passed on the dessert but two of us enjoyed an after dinner dessert martini that was really tasty!
I would highly recommend this restaurant to any one who is in the Carmel area. Reservations are suggested and give yourself plenty of time to find parking and allow for the walk you’ll have make to the restaurant.
*Free public parking lot on 3rd street in between Junipero & Torres.
We fell for the hype of the place but were both disappointed with our meals. I wouldn't recommend it and will not plan to revisit in the future. There are plenty of other restaurants in Carmel at which you can find great ambiance. #totaldisappointment
The staff is awesome.. Food is so delicious... Chicken Marsala was so flavorable... Love sitting outside in the patio.. Such a great setting. I highly recommend this place.
My bottle of Budweiser was not cold enough and my glass was not cold enough.
The food was delicious!! I have never seen a staff more attentive and always asking if we needed anything or how was the food. We were also so impressed that the entire staff working hard and working so well together as a team! Eating in the courtyard made for a nice quiet meal, off the noisy streets. Can't wait to go back next time we are in Carmel.
Excellent service, great food and drinks!! We LOVE this place and we’ll definitely be back!
Excellent food. I would definitely eat here again. Staff was very welcoming and we were served in a timely matter.
Filet Mignon and rib Eye steaks were cooked to perfection. Sooo good!
This place is living off the prior Clint Eastwood ownership. Eastwood memorabilia is everywhere and I’m fine with that as I’m a huge Clint fan. The food however was bad. Filet steak was very fatty and tasteless. Red wine sauce was congealed and out of a bottle. Potatoes au gratin were greasy.
When I made the reservation online there was an opportunity to select if it was a special occasion. I selected Anniversary. At no point during our dinner was our wedding anniversary acknowledged. It was our 30th. The hostess who greeted us was not very friendly. In the women’s bathroom one of the two stalls had no lock on the door.
The food however was excellent! Our steaks were tender and cooked the way we asked for. Probably will not return again.
Food was not very goo my boyfriend had steak that was full of grizzle and my pork chop was tough. Service was fair. After complaining they did take some money off our bill but overall it was not a pleasant experience
Horrible service! Rude hostess from Middle East or wherever. I changed res twice around my new college daughter move in and the hostess acted like she was so important. Seated us in corner, super rude, and waiter came by once…another guy came by with water only once after I had to ask a waitress where our waiter was after 15 mins of no service after seated!! Hostess said you can tell waiter if you want fireplace lit. No one ever did it! Great food but service horrible and I love this place, but will never return!
We came for an anniversary and we had a wonderful experience. We alwill be back and are anxious to bring our family and friends.
Excellent service , great ambiance went for my wife’s birthday, had a little trouble finding parking but it was well worth it
Family member’s birthday. Great table near the fireplace. Food was average for the price. Great ambiance.
Our second visit in a year. Excellent server, Lucio. Food was quite good, service excellent. Only flaw was the hostess checking reservations.
It was an enjoyable experience overall and I am looking forward to our next visit.
Always a great time! Outdoor seating is so welcoming and cozy you never want to leave.
Great service! The calamari was great! The chicken Marsala was good. The pork chop was horrible. It was overcooked and very dry with minimal flavor. They gave us a free crepe brûlée, for the birthday. It was an average evening with a $200 price tag. (We did have martinis)
Over hyped and u dr delivered, this is no longer the hot spot to see Clint Eastwood. The pub area is really great. And, there is a lot of Clint memorabilia on the walls there. So, go grab a drink by the fire. It’s delightful. But, skip the unimaginative dinner menu.
Not the same place, not the same crowd, it’s really going downhill! Pass on this one if you can
Sergio was a fantastic sever. Dinner was delicious!
Good service steaks wonderful patio dining was perfect.hostess Bianca was very helpful and hustles she is a keeper.
Such wonderful ambiance. Adequate food and drinks. Service is always friendly.
Outdated, expensive and not customer svc. Friendly
Pricey but enjoyed the atmosphere and food! Our waiter was very attentive (Jim Table 32)!!
Fun little hideaway in Carmel with a tasty diverse menu.
From beginning to end, absolutely perfect evening. Great and friendly customer service. Great food.
Great restaurant with a great staff and ambiance. Perfectly quiet and peaceful, and the food was absolutely AMAZING!! Definitely would recommend and definitely will be going again.
Great place to dine with friends or family. It is so nice to sit by the fire as we eat and the beautiful old tree in the courtyard makes the setting amazing. I loved the artichoke soup and my family was happy with their food too!
We order the calamari appetizer and it was served with no tentacles. If you don’t get any tentacles you can assume they are passing off something else for calamari . We left after that.
The food was pricey for the quality, and the restaurant needs some updating.
Went for the first time last night, fully knowing Clint Eastwood hasn't been an owner since 1999 but hoping that this "check the box" moment would be worthwhile. It wasn't. I checked the box but will not be revisiting anytime soon. Had a nice patio table and an adequately capable server. I think my wife had the best comment for the food "ample quantitities but reminiscent of something you would get when your neighbor invited you for dinner" . . . OK but not necessarily memorable or enticing you back for seconds. The ghost of Clint may still be in the wood paneling and on the grounds but that is about it. Take a pass on this one if you're looking for a great meal.
We don’t get out to California central coast very often, but when we do Hog’s Breath Inn is our favorite place to dine. Sand dabs were excellent as always.
The Sand Dabs were terrific and the service was excellent.
I used to always make a point to go to the Hogs Breath on any visit to Carmel. After 15 years since my last visit, last night was the last one. Quality of food was just above airline quality. Super short poor on my glass of wine. Manager was accommodating and nice when I sent back my plate. It was a sad experience after years of nostalgia with this spot.
Always a great experience in a charming setting. If you love Clint, this place is a must. The food was great...not dry, overcooked, cold and our customizations came as ordered. Service with a smile and good humor.
Food was great, we really enjoyed our dinner! Was their 20 Yeats ago. Was what I remembered and better! Cheesecake was great!
